My facebook is full articles about Shias rape. I am so sorry he went through this. However not one article mentions his clothing at the time, alcohol consumption, past partners, whether he knew the person. Not even "rape" or alledged rape. Pick up any article about a woman talking about her rape and it is full of what she was wearing etc.
Fucking deprressing really.

Oh, I've learned loads here. I was very uneducated about feminist stuff for years if iI looked back at some of my early posts I would cringe The "Feminist Pub" thread is a good place to start to get a feel for it.

And anybody that spots the nobbers as quickly as you did is alright Wink

Rhythm O- the piece described upthread by Marina Abramovic is one of my favourite pieces of performance art and Shia Lebouf's piece cannot really be understood (conceptually and artistically) without acknowledging that it directly references Marina's work.

Echoing the poster upthread, Rhythm O was about the relationship between audience, performer, consent, risk and boundaries. It was an important, powerful feminist performance with its power and relevance being located (imo) in the real risk that Marina A took in making the work.

As Shia Lebouf's piece references rips off Rhythm O so directly, I find it really hard to believe that he did not understand the risks inherent in the work- it makes me wonder what he thought his performance was about in the first place.

Its terrible that he feels that he has been raped, or has been raped but this kind of feminist performance work is brutal and political for a reason.
