My facebook is full articles about Shias rape. I am so sorry he went through this. However not one article mentions his clothing at the time, alcohol consumption, past partners, whether he knew the person. Not even "rape" or alledged rape. Pick up any article about a woman talking about her rape and it is full of what she was wearing etc.
Fucking deprressing really.

Prashad, I don't think the law is sexist. It was what I would class as rape, but don't mind calling it 'being had sex with without consent' as I wasn't penetrated.
I think there are very different pressures on men and women regarding sex. Both can be very detrimental to the victim. These pressures are easier to see on a wider scale. However, my experience was very individual within these pressures and I can only imagine everyone will need different support.
I don't think the law is sexist, even though I didn't pursue that route, the pressures on men and women regarding sex and how we should feel about it and respond to it are sexist.

I'm sorry you were sexually assaulted King.

I believe you Thanks

PuffinsAreFictitious · 02/12/2014 18:57

More fuel to the fire

PuffinsAreFictitious · 02/12/2014 19:15

Oh and (last post, honest)

The voices of MRE groups, you know, the ones who constantly derail any discussion of rape by saying that men are raped too are deafening in their silence. It's horrible to see the kind of victim blaming bullshit being turned on yet another person, but interesting that, despite their political agenda MREs are silent, or blame S leB.

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 19:17

How interesting that Prashad is showing some true sympathy here for a man that discloses sexual assault and yet is all over the rest of the site victim-blaming women and diminishing their experiences.

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 19:18

I am sorry that happened to you, King.

FlossyMoo · 02/12/2014 19:24

I am sorry too king. I believe you

prashad · 02/12/2014 19:55

I don't recall diminishing anyone's experience of rape, or victim blaming. Got any examples?

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 19:55

I don't need to, Prashad. Most users of this board have your measure now.

YonicScrewdriver · 02/12/2014 20:48

King, I'm sorry you were sexually assaulted and that it was minimised by those you told.

prashad · 02/12/2014 21:09

His rape is being minimised by people on this very thread.

Show me where Kings rape was minimized (sorry king). I don't know you prash but having had a nosy I agree with others measure of you. Your a bit of a knob really.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 02/12/2014 22:01

King you and I have had our differences, but I just want to apologise that Prashad is using your sexual assault for their own grubby ends. I know what guts it takes to disclose, even though this is an anonymous forum, I also know what it's like to have that disclosure dribbled on by someone with an agenda. Hope you're doing whatever self care you need, that you have someone to talk to irl, or if you don't, I can find someone for you to talk to. Thanks

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 22:50

The bottom of that barrel is getting some damage right now.

FlossyMoo · 02/12/2014 23:25

Sorry to tarnish the thread with a PA. I know it is bad form.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 02/12/2014 23:34

Not sure that stating the absolute truth would count as a PA Flossy, anyway, you were merely articulating what others have said, just in more 'earthy' language Grin

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 23:35

lossy, you were pretty restrained, don't give it another thought

You were also entirely correct Smile

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 23:35

*Flossy

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 23:36

Just be sure to keep reporting, folks

FlossyMoo · 02/12/2014 23:49

I reported Cos he's a knob.

Is that enough of an explanation for MNHQ?

FlossyMoo · 02/12/2014 23:51

By the way you have all cheered me up today.

I do not normally frequent this side of MN but Celest's post upset me and caused me to respond. You have all been lovely. Maybe I might look further in to this side of MN.

AnyFucker · 02/12/2014 23:57

Stick around, Flossy

The only people who don't get a sound welcome on "this side" of Mn are people who don't like women or the ones that support them in that.

FlossyMoo · 03/12/2014 00:02

Will do AF.

I will say though I am pre-conditioned. I was brought up in the military and I work in that sector still (at 37). I have only recently found my voice since joining MN so I am still new Smile
