Feminist Pub 14: The Bluestocking, a place for feminist chat and feminists to chat

Welcome!

This is the 14th incarnation of the Pub and is meant as a place to drop by with random thoughts and meandering chats, on feminist or other related themes. Anything you want to mull over but not necessarily start a thread about. Alternatively, flop onto the chaise lounges with some Wine

We have a pub goat, a feminist cannon for firing at crazy sexists and a variety of drinks and snacks. And stools/bar counters at female friendly heights. And a crèche in the back somewhere

Will link the last pub in the next post!

I had two big squares of Lindt lemon. I have wrapped up the last two for another day.

People who do that need to be punished. Severely. There's nothing worse in a chocolatey sense than After Eight deficiency.

Bastards.

Go tell the Anonymous geezer, bet he'd be able to do precisely nothing find out who did this to you!

FrauHelgaMissMarpleandaChuckle · 29/11/2014 21:17

Grin that thread is now absolute comedy gold.

Best laugh I've had in ages.

Am I missing out on anything? Do I really want to know? Grin

Sabrinnnnnnnna · 29/11/2014 23:30

Zazzles - it's the MN campaign one on BPAS - if you can stand it. Although I think they've been hit with the big banhammer now.

Sabrinnnnnnnna · 29/11/2014 23:42

That thread started off so well too

Zazzles007 · 29/11/2014 23:54

Aahhh, I see, invaded by A Couple of Twats who were being, what else, Twats Grin. All in a Saturday night on MN.

Sabrinnnnnnnna · 29/11/2014 23:55

Yup - fairly normal saturday night on MN...

SunshineBossaNova · 30/11/2014 00:12

I bet R*eddit's quiet tonight - or at least one sub forum.

Night all. Flowers

Sabrinnnnnnnna · 30/11/2014 01:06

The next time there's a MNHQ thread/webchat I'm going to ask why they tolerate this.

That arse's posts still stand (although I think he's been banned now). Gloating about how women are paid less. And why are new joiners allowed to come on and call women "jealous mingers' if they remotely object to things like Hooters. MN shouldn't stand for this crap.

Artifexmumdi · 30/11/2014 09:02

Actually, the gloating post appears to have been deleted now. I went over to read all of your responses because, although I am not articulate enough to take on the GFs, I really love reading what you all have to say. Sterling work on all threats.

Small rant now. DD1 wants a nightgown with spaceships on it and I can't find one, pyjamas yes, a nightie no.

Artifexmumdi · 30/11/2014 09:03

Threats? Threads.

AnnieLobeseder · 30/11/2014 10:41

Morning all

Looks like I missed some fun and games yesterday evening. But I was busy being at the MN London meetup. While you lot of slackers were not. Apart from NotAnother, who is apparently something of a lurker on the FWRboards but should post more cos she's lovely.

AnnieLobeseder · 30/11/2014 10:42

Gah, stupid strikeout fail.

Anyway, I have another job interview on Wed. 3rd time lucky?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 30/11/2014 11:22

Yes! Third time's the charm and all that. Good luck.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/11/2014 11:33

Good morning!

Or is it still? Hmm

Cooking stuff for lots of friends coming round.

DSs tidying up their bookshelves. How can two small person have so many books? And that's not counting the 20 library books which live on another shelf. What do people do with all these books?

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/11/2014 11:34

Annie Good luck for interview!

I've not been to MN regional (!?) meetup though have made some lovely friends from MN local. Smile

PuffinsAreFictitious · 30/11/2014 11:35

Ummm, we bought a house with an extra spare room so that I could build a library to house my ridiculously huge collection of books. Blush

FibonacciSeries · 30/11/2014 12:16

I didn't even know there was a meet up, otherwise I'd gone! Sad

I've spent the morning cooking and then stuffing my face with it and then idly considering starting a food and nutrition blog. But I am so lazy.

EBearhug · 30/11/2014 12:54

Sounds like perfectly normal behaviour, Puffins. Every now and then, I think I probably should cull some books before they totally take over, though.

kickassangel · 30/11/2014 15:09

I got work to provide me with an extra bookcase and have taken all books that are even vaguely to do with work there.

Actually, I don't think we own many books (maybe a few hundred?) as DH and I are hideously bad at buying 'stuff' and are far more likely to think about buying a book than actually doing it. We do have a couple of extra shelves for library books. Dd often has nearly 100 books at a time.

AnnieLobeseder · 30/11/2014 19:02

Oh, shoot me know. There's a weird parallel universe thread going on where posters are talking about getting checked out/hit on by strangers. Those who get it are mostly pleased by this attention while those who don't (especially, apparently, those who did when younger but "lost it") are sad at being invisible.

WTF?

Artifexmumdi · 30/11/2014 19:48

Shelves specifically for library books! What a good idea.

Sounds like a strange thread Annie. I could do with some more friends as I am really lonely atm, but attention like that makes me glad my babies seem to make me invisible.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/11/2014 20:31

I insist that library books must live on a specific shelf when they are not being read. I certainly will not be hunting these books to return.

Being invisible is quite nice. But not when people refuse to talk to you even when they are trying to sell you things. Angry
