I need to step away from the computer, switch off the news and stop expressing my frustrations to people who do not and will never get it. I need a break from my feminism. I am just so sad about it all. I know it is temporary and i will be back but i can't focus on this stuff any more for now. Anyone else reaching saturation point?

I used girly-girl as a derogatory term, which is what you perceived it as as well, wolowitz. And yeah, I like strong guys. Women can body build all they want, they still won't beat the male body builder. They can try, but they just don't have the physical capacity. But we can beat them in other ways, so why focus so hard on being the same in every way when it ain't gonna happen?

I get the impression you're not a fan of men from your comments, wolowitz.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 30/10/2014 20:05

Hmm interesting Crispy. Not expecting equality has to be combined with still believing you're worth it, though. So it won't surprise or make you furious but you still know what's right/want do something about it.

Olivia - what are you on about? I did a feminism class in my first year at college and they showed us a video from the 70s where women body builders were beating men body builders at all sorts of things. They had them racing, swimming, climbing ropes, doing mental arithmetic. That was from the 70s. You'd have thought people would've learnt about it by now, but no, you insist on staying ignorant of the facts. Try reading about body builders gender experiments before you come here spouting that claptrap.

ZombiePuffinsAreREAL · 30/10/2014 20:10

LOL!

Oh Olivia, where have you been all my life?

You're just what we needed. An unreconstructed old fashioned woman. Do you bake? Please say you bake, and that yo man loves yo cupcakes.

This is CLASS!

It's like.... anti feminist bingo.

Oh, and before you turn your perfectly arched eyebrows on me, I love my very manly man. Built like a brick privy, rugby player, ex forces and a feminist. A feminist who feels kind of sorry for your poor manipulated husband.

MrsTerrorPratchett · 30/10/2014 20:18

It is true that all the CEOs and world leaders do need to be body builders. I's a well known fact that higher muscle mass involves being paid more and owning pretty much all the property in the world.

My DH is a personal trainer and he has both male and female clients and he could tell you easily that although some women can defeat men at sports as a general rule they don't.

I do not bake, Zombie, I have staff for that. I deal with the kids and work. That's about as far as my womanly duties reach.

BOFster · 30/10/2014 20:23

Ah, Oliver Reed and Alan Bates. Now they were men's men, know what I mean?

MrsTerrorPratchett · 30/10/2014 20:23

I couldn't give a shiney shite about sports. How does average muscle mass and lean body mass equate to unequal pay and power?

ZombiePuffinsAreREAL · 30/10/2014 20:23

Oh dear.... You are a sore disappointment. Really, you utterly fail as a woman. No wonder you don't want to associate with actual real women who care about other actual real women. It must be tough for you.

I would offer you one of my delicious Halloween Biscuit but I fear you would have to go and live in a cave when you realise what you're missing.

Bingo card filling nicely, thanks

Besides, seriously, Crispy, who the hell wants to look like they've been pumping iron to match the guys? So gross.

ZombiePuffinsAreREAL · 30/10/2014 20:25

I LOVED pumping iron. Seriously, I suspect I might even have given your manly man a run for his money.

You are a parody, aren't you? Halloween Grin

I enjoyed the book The Frailty Myth a lot.

OliviaBlue · 30/10/2014 20:27

Wolowitz, please. Go home.

Zombie, just cuz I don't bake doesn't mean I don't respect your baking skills. Hell, you can join my staff :P

alicemalice · 30/10/2014 20:27

'I need to step away from the computer, switch off the news and stop expressing my frustrations to people who do not and will never get it. '

Yep, I'm with you. I'm finding every feminism thread gets taken over away from the original point and we spend so much energy arguing back.

OliviaBlue · 30/10/2014 20:28

I'd hire you, just for fun. I have a maid I get to wear a traditional French maid's outfit. No joke. A body building female chef would work wonders for parties.

I wonder why you would need staff when you work as a part time secretary.

OliviaBlue · 30/10/2014 20:30

I don't - that's why i love my husband.

BOFster · 30/10/2014 20:30

How come you spent the afternoon cleaning your kitchen and preparing dinner for the menfolk on your other thread then, Olivia? Was it the French maid's afternoon off?

OliviaBlue · 30/10/2014 20:31

LOL I don't bake - but i do cook

BriarRainbowshimmer · 30/10/2014 20:31

Yeah I don't like that either.
