I need to step away from the computer, switch off the news and stop expressing my frustrations to people who do not and will never get it. I need a break from my feminism. I am just so sad about it all. I know it is temporary and i will be back but i can't focus on this stuff any more for now. Anyone else reaching saturation point?

Why are you in the Feminist section Olivia? Just why?

CatKisser · 30/10/2014 19:32

The idea of manipulating a man and wrapping him round my finger doesn't sit right with me - I'd much rather be thought of as an equally respected partner in whatever we were trying to achieve.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 30/10/2014 19:32

I prefer to look a man straight in the eye rather than batting mine. I like my relationships untainted by manipulation- a method used by women when they are powerless by the way.

Real women who are equal to men do not need to manipulate- that is the behaviour of the weak.

Dumb little girly-girls are the girls you guys are attempting to liken me too. Some stupid stay at home moms who let their husbands rule their lives and have nothing to say except, "when do you want dinner?". That's what I mean by girly-girl.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 30/10/2014 19:33

You haven't answered the question. You said you want him to "be a man". What does this involve other than being the owner of a penis?

Whatever, I get what I and my kids want, and that's pretty much all that matters to me, hon

What the hell are you talking about? What would you class as a man, MoreCrackThanHarlem?

A person with male sex organs and xy chromosome.
Now please, how do you define 'being a man'? You clearly said you want your dh to be one, how does he live up to your expectation of this?

OliviaBlue · 30/10/2014 19:41

For sure.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 30/10/2014 19:42

Yes it's overwhelming.
It's important to take breaks now and then OP. Got to recharge those batteries Smile

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 30/10/2014 19:43

Feeling better, OP ? Grin

Is it feeding time?

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 30/10/2014 19:46

In other news, I've really enjoyed Scott and Bailey...anyone else?

OliviaBlue · 30/10/2014 19:46

ou guys are being ridiculous. Okay, I agree with equality, there are many women more intelligent than men However, it is not true that a man is just "a human with a penis". Men naturally have a higher muscle mass than women and a lower fat %. Men also have higher upper body strength. There are differences between genders. I have no problem with equality in occupations - i think everything should be open to women from stylists to SEALS. My point is, men are different from women and that's what I like.

If I wanted another woman, I'd be a lesbian. I have nothing against it, I just am not intersted.

YellowSpoon · 30/10/2014 19:49

Jeez why have I not been on this board more often? I love a well conceived comedy character bouncing along before comedy segues to pathos and tragedy.

And in episode 2, Olivia meets a feminist 'stay at home mom' and finds her co-worker is paid 20% more because he matches the boards genital expectations.

CatKisser · 30/10/2014 19:49

Lol, Yellow!

Stylecraft · 30/10/2014 19:50

I have really enjoyed Scott and Bailey too. Written and directed by women. Strong female leads. Sad it has finished and that Jill has retired.

I have somehow missed Scott and Bailey this time around

An obsession with walking zombies has overtaken by Telly watching

I am watching everything else on TV through the lens of Goggle Box, and find those two pissed up poshos highly entertaining

CrispyFern · 30/10/2014 19:53

I was thinking today, it might be easier to think of the world as a place where women are just meant to be the second sex (not by fate or by biology or anything, just in our society).
I mean, we grow up hearing that it isn't like that, but in reality, it pretty much is. Maybe if I just re-jigged my mind, and accepted that, I wouldn't get upset by things so much. Does that make sense at all? Don't expect equality, you can't be disappointed when you don't get it.
Then I wonder what to tell my children about the world and I feel sad again.
