Dadwashere, please answer my question. If you were one of the millions of women around the world who literally needed to be a prostitute to feed themselves and their children....If you had to suck a bit of cock or take one up the ass would it feel like a violation or just a job?

Men are expected to only have sex when they want to..so straight men don't fuck men.

Women are expected to have sex when they are told to so it doesn't matter that they are being expected to fuck 10 men a night that can't find a woman to do it for free. NO matter how disgusting, or not attracted to them they are. The woman's sexuality is not of anyone's interest. They are just fuck holes.

I'm not asking you why men don't have sex for money with women... It is not relevant because women don't pay for sex. Not an issue. But the possibility is there for men to sell sex to other men. Most men aren't taking them up on that offer. It's because men as a class have more money than women and because they are expected to only have sex with people they want to have sex with. So they have privilege of assuming prostituted women also only have sex when they want to.

If it were just a job- men would be doing it to

Sopranos100 · 28/08/2014 11:11

I'm not sure there's a huge demand for male prostitutes for male clients given that sex in the gay community is far more easily procured than in the hetero community.

WhatWitchcraftIsThis · 28/08/2014 11:11

I bet most men would financially support their sons or daughters if their only alternative was prostitution or sex work.

Most probably wouldn't if the only alternative was scrubbing toilets.

SolidGoldBrass · 28/08/2014 11:14

It isn't completely unheard of for women to pay men for sex. One of the reasons why it's rarer is that women-as-a-class simply have less disposable income, of course. Mind you, women who use male escorts seem to (or did when I knew more about this) want them to escort them places less than for sex. I heard that some male escorts would get bookings to (eg) pretend to be a woman's new partner at a business social event or a family wedding or something - if the woman was either single or unable to admit she was gay, she would hire a man in order to make a better impression.
There are also men who want to appear in porn movies. Some of them do all right out of it, others less well.

Sorry? Just for a second there it looked like you were reproducing the old 'gay men are more promiscuous than straight men' trope? Or is that what you actually meant to say?

Sopranos100 · 28/08/2014 11:19

That is exactly what I meant to say.

Why don't women hang around on park benches waiting for a shag?

Sopranos100 · 28/08/2014 11:21

Not that I expect a rational reply from someone who believes women can hold their own in men's rugby.

CaptChaos · 28/08/2014 11:26

Well, that's me silenced. Good on you.

Sopranos100 · 28/08/2014 11:27

Thanks

WhatWitchcraftIsThis · 28/08/2014 11:28

NO because gay men don't care if their partners are attractive or not.

And presumbaley all gay men are up for any kind of sex act no matter how degrading (which is of course one reason men go to prostitutes)

Not that I expect a rational reply from someone who believes women can hold their own in men's rugby.

hahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahaha

Nominated for "what the fuckery of the week"

(oh that's not a thing? Can it be?)

WhatWitchcraftIsThis · 28/08/2014 11:31

It's weird that people think heterosexual women make it hard for men to have sex.... (like they don't enjoy sex) but for some reason all these sex hating women are happy to fuck for money.

Sopranos100 · 28/08/2014 11:34

Who thinks their happy? Everyone knows if they weren't being paid they wouldn't do it. Prostitution doesn't have a monopoly on low job satisfaction.

OutsSelf · 28/08/2014 11:37

You took the rope there, Sopranos. It's like bigot bingo in here. Why not attempt actually to answer your own question in more than reactionary terms: Why don't women hang around on park benches waiting for a shag? Shall we start with the climate of male violence against women? And proceed to how women's sexual behaviour is regulated through prevailing attitudes to women and their status as accessories to male identity?

DWH, why is the problem of sexual exploitation of women something that women have to adapt to and accept? Why are you not prepared in any way to regulate, control or even have a discussion with, the men who can't take no for an answer? No woman will willingly sleep with you really is your problem. Why don't you think that men should accept this? Women accept this with ease.

OutsSelf · 28/08/2014 11:49

"Prostitution doesn't have the monopoly on low job satisfaction"

I find your attitude so vile. Do you really think the misery of prostitution equates to low job satisfaction? I'm fairly certain you're having to tell yourself shit like this to maintain self-serving beliefs about the bodily autonomy and coherence and humanity of women.

OutsSelf · 28/08/2014 11:52

My 6th question to the list was, Why shouldn't johns take no for an answer? If they can't find someone to consent to their sexual practices, why can't they take that 'no' for an answer?

WhatWitchcraftIsThis · 28/08/2014 12:02

There will always be a black market for organs, I don't see anyone advocating people be allowed to sell their livers.

Heroin or crack cocaine- there will always be buyers. Few people out there trying to legalize it.

RufusTheReindeer · 28/08/2014 14:03

dad

Still don't understand why seeing a load of discarded condoms (which i completely understand is gross and a horrible thing to experience with your children) means you can't answer the original question

If you had no money and desperately needed some and a gay man (or a straight curious one) was happy to pay you to have sex with him would you do it???

Greenwayslide · 28/08/2014 17:57

Not sure about prostitution but many men in gay porn are actually heterosexual i saw that in a documentary once so i imagine there are male prostitutes who are straight but cater to men as well.

JapaneseMargaret · 29/08/2014 00:16

DWH, not sure if I'm missing something, but it seems to me from your nebulous post, that the reason you're giving for men not wanting to enter into prostitution is because it's horrendously awful for them....

So, um...

nowehud · 29/08/2014 00:40

Why don't men enter sexwork? They do.

On adultwork (a very popular very similar to punternet) a quick search reveals 9,965 male escorts in the UK and 17,061 female escorts.

So out of a sample of 27,026 escorts just over one third are men.

nowehud · 29/08/2014 00:42

"Everyone knows if they weren't being paid they wouldn't do it. "

The same applies to virtually every job in the world. Who would go to work if they weren't getting paid?

nowehud · 29/08/2014 00:51

"There is evidence from the Swedish police that traffickers do not really bother with Sweden any more"

And the evidence is... what?

"... Instead of advocating legalisation or criminalisation, should we be advocating better pay?"

I don't know about the street but most indoor escorts tend to charge more or less around £150 per hour.

"You know prostitutes get raped by johns, right? Even without describing paid sex as 'rape'. And it happens pretty frequently, actually."

nowehud · 29/08/2014 00:53

"You know prostitutes get raped by johns, right? Even without describing paid sex as 'rape'. And it happens pretty frequently, actually."

Of course sexworkers can be raped. But there are many people who want to see all paid sex classed as rape which would IMO not help sexworkers who really have been raped.

Sweden for example does not see any distinction between consensual paid sex and trafficking. So how is this going to help sexworkers who really are trafficked???

CaptChaos · 29/08/2014 00:54

Punter klaxon gone off has it?

Ah well, night night
