I guess he's more comfortable with the idea of his daughter dating someone who's a bit of a lad, who made mistakes and then was unfairly convicted for a crime he didn't commit, than a rapist.

It is weird though - you'd think Evans would have been able to fund most of it himself.

Unless he spunked it all on Cristal and strippers.

Darkesteyes · 18/10/2014 21:59

According to a headline on the front of the Star tomorrow he has been the "victim of feminists" Hmm

PuffinsAreFicticious · 19/10/2014 00:11

Yes, we nasty feminists have been banging a drum which has made his manfeelz all sad.

His mum says so. Hmm

Darkesteyes · 19/10/2014 00:15

It's all become a bit surreal. Mixed messages coming out of his publicity machine. On the one hand, he's going to make a 'profound' statement and on the other, feminists made him rape that woman....

MarriedDadOneSonOneDaughter · 19/10/2014 18:22

Whilst I can't avoid the headlines, I haven't read any of the news on this preferring to read the legal case notes. It is clear that both Evans and McDonald were highly predatory seeking "targets". The legal line drawn between them which allowed the jury to convict one but not the other seemed arbitrary to me, but I'm no lawyer.

These men are hideous and I would not want to stand by them or support them in a team or as a fan. Why his ex-partner and family are defending such behaviour, even if they beleive it wasn't rape, is extremely distressing.

Allowing him back into the fold of high earning male privilege with no remorse just feels wrong.

£25k a week .... or a year? Wink

In my "it's never going to happen world", I'd combine football teams into mixed teams (equal numbers on the pitch but for the goal keepers). Perhaps the "culture" would change and the game might appeal to a larger audience?

Wow. The Ched Evans "machine" is working hard here.

They have published footage from the hotel CCTV to try to argue with the case and his conviction.

chedevans.com/judge-for-yourself

This is a limited amount of the information that the court, judge and jury would have had in reaching their verdict. As such it's a very cynical action by the CE camp.

What do we MNers make of it?

MarriedDadOneSonOneDaughter · 22/10/2014 17:53

The most this shows is that she could walk when she arrived. That may not be the case later in the evening, so it's meaningless really.

Months! Really. How does that happen?

I guess it's the media just picking up on it too. Or perhaps the CE camp have been trying to get it picked up and the media held off until the story could "happen" when he got out.

I also read that the victim's new identity has been leaked again. It strikes me that the justice system isn't working as she seems to be suffering more than him.
