That warm beverage will be cold by the time she wakes up.

AND he didn't use a coaster.

When she wakes up she'll be rightly pissed off with him, esp for showing everyone on t'internet what a thoughtless pig she is living with.

Awful.

Buffy, it makes Pan feel clever. Pan finds that helpful, although no one else does.

"it makes Pan feel clever. Pan finds that helpful"

Really, Home? You know so little much!

And get those boots off her - her feet will be minging when she wakes. And don't get me started on that neck crick.

fwiw to you you're welcome.

HomeHelpMeGawd · 12/08/2014 21:34

Not at all disproportionate

I now know not to take interest in what you say in the future, as it'll be self-pleasing smart-arsery

Always useful to know who's a low value poster, life's too short to waste

Yes, let's take the piss out of a short video modelling respectful behaviour towards vulnerable people, shall we. That helps…how?

Reverse the roles of the actors and you may see why Pan would take the piss out of it.

I shouldn't have read the comments Sad

There should be a disclaimer on the feminism board.

Something like 'Trying to be a bit more feminist? Still establishing your own views and fancy a chat about ideas and opinions? Pointing something of interest out? Well, DON'T BOTHER, because we're much more interested in nit picking, so fuck off.'

OP- I agree. Obviously made with good intentions and might catch a couple of people off guard!

TeWiSavesTheDay · 13/08/2014 09:21

I saw this a while back and I still love it.

ThisIsBULLSHIT · 13/08/2014 09:30

I like it. If the roles were reversed I would still like it. It may come across as smug if you view it like that but I personally don't think he is trying to be smug. He is sweet.

Buffy, that just isn't true re winding people up. There are a few ways of interpreting comments on the video - you and home just went for the basest one. Which says a fair bit.

PetulaGordino · 13/08/2014 12:22

the person who published the video on youtube wrote underneath "To the Steubenville rapists...or any rapists out there."

it was created in response to a real rape case that was videoed and put on the internet

pan, you must see that your first response was inappropriate in that context? why did you do it?

I understand the video was done with the best of intentions but, short version, I doubt the vast majority of those nine and a half million views will have been made by men.

Its a 25 second video in which women will, in general, think the man is 'sweet' in (as someone posted here).
Low lifes will not give a damn about its 25 second message, so its not any kind of a 'message to rapists' they will bother with.
Better men will admire it (for 20 seconds) then want to punch the screen (because of the last 5 seconds)
Female feminists will adore it (because of the last 5 seconds)

Sadly, in its current form, its a video some will applaud as its delivered to an intended audience it will alienate. If only it were 20 seconds long it would have been watched less but made far more of an impact.

Panwearsamagicjersey · 13/08/2014 20:14

The thread so far seems to diverge on 1. the video and 2. my comments.

  1. The video's actual effectiveness in stopping violence against girls and women will be pretty much zero, for most of the reasons given above by Dad. (though I wouldn't want to actually punch the screen! just raise a deeply, and possibly violent, sceptical eyebrow at it, which I did on Sunday morning.) I have too much personal and professional experience over decades in these issues, with perps and supervising people who work with them, to not know how ineffective it would be. Good little video? Def. no.
  2. Emerge out of 1. Yes they were/are derisory, and rightly so. I never take comments on face value (in RL or on-line unless they are historically evidenced as consistent), or in uni-dimensional fashion ever, so Buffy/home, do drop the 'clever', assumptive, hyperbole language with any poster, as advice? It's a tough old world out there, esp for girls and women, and most blokes with more than half a pea for a brain know this. Take from this what you will.

Blah...
