Really. Just heard about this as a "thing". Honestly, like there aren't enough important issues out there some women feel their biggest battle is AGAINST feminism. Lets just shoot ourselves in the foot then. Gaaaah!!! Had to get that off my chest Grin

Mehekugi, you read all those awful horrible threats and you pick one that you don't think is a threat, even though "meat" is a well known sexually objectifying phrase for women?

Agenda, much?

"Miss Misanthropist ?@TamedInsanity Jul 31
"Because #feminists think that if you don't agree with them you must be a man #WomenAgainstFeminism""

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 03/08/2014 12:51

Yeah, fair point capt.

Whatcha having for lunch?

CaptChaos · 03/08/2014 12:56

I think we'll probably go out for something, then take the hounds for a postprandial constitutional, as one does Grin

You?

mehekugi · 03/08/2014 12:56

"Whatcha having for lunch?"

This is what a feminist says in response to hearing other feminists have threatened a woman for starting a social media hashtag.

That says it all.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 03/08/2014 12:59

"Fridge surprise", in which ABland cooks everything in the fridge that's near its Best Before date Grin

CaptChaos · 03/08/2014 13:02

No..... we already have already covered that..... you chose to ignore it, so we're choosing to ignore you. So far, you have not adequately proved that any of your MRA pals have been threatened by anyone. Prove it, and we'll pat you on the head and tell you to do one of the many things that feminists have been told to do when MRAs attack them. Including your friend judgy bitch. Who is an MRA. By her own admission.

You'll notice I'm using very small sentences, so that you can more easily pick out the few words you will quote to attempt to make me look like a bad bad person. You know, without including letters from other words.

Happy days.

CaptChaos · 03/08/2014 13:04

ABland sounds yummy! Sort of like our 'iffits' - if it's in the cupboard, and I can be arsed, I'll cook it.

VashtaNerada · 03/08/2014 13:37

I had roast chicken. Smile

Hakluyt · 03/08/2014 13:47

Just off for a picnic in Perry Woods. In case any MRA want to come and find a real life feminist and abuse me in person. I'll be the one holding hands with a man and occasionally cuddling a male child....

Wow, so I missed out on a whole heap of discussion in the last week!! Having caught up, as the OP I felt it with summing up my opinion (yes, I'm conceited like that) Grin. (A) young women against feminism are disrespectful of their mothers/grandmothers/distant relatives/friends thereof who have made it possible for them to be voting, working, educated women with CHOICES. They may not choose to be feminists themselves vocally, but that choice would not be open to them without "radical feminists" like those who threw themselves under horses to get this years' crop of new voters that right. We wouldn't say it's radical now to claim a female vote, and we may in 100 years (or less) see some radical feminists of 2013 as leaders instead. (B) the older you get, the more choices you make in life, the more you recognise that those choices make you a feminist of some sort. Deny it if you like, if you are determining your own future then YUP, your a feminist. Because its a broad theology, even if people in this thread even aren't always treating it as so. You can be extreme or mild, but most of us are on the spectrum somewhere...Wink . I bet those women like the Dove advertising campaign. Yup, they are secretly feminists too! (C) progress isn't linear. What worries me about these women being anti- feminist is that there could very quickly become a period of time where we look at 1950-now and say "golden age for women's rights in the west". I fear this - actively. You have only to look at Afghanistan to see how quickly a country can renege on women's rights. Ok, it would take A LOT for that to happen in the UK, but actually, I could envisage a time where the US started going that way (vis. Abortion rights, etc.). So that is why I find the "movement" disturbing. It's unfair to history, untrue to the women themselves, and more importantly could unravel what we've all achieved.

Oh reah, and for those who feel feminism hasn't done one thing or another for this or that (eg 16yo mums on sink estates) - thank you , bang on. Jobs not done, is it?
