And my gut reaction is that many young women (including DD) are reacting against the brand of feminism that is busy telling them their choices are invalid if they do not coincide with certain opinions. And telling them their wrong and being condescending towards their views is not going to help.

There are lot of radical feminists who say that stay-at-home-parenting is important because it helps to teach children that there is equal value in work for non-financial gain. Provided of course that that work is demonstrably valued equally by those around them, which is what many feminists work towards in addition to wanting to improve women's lot in the (paid) workplace.

This is another one of those threads that has me banging my head against my keyboard. The amount of collective hours that have been spent on this board alone in discussing every single point that has been raised in opposition of Feminism would keep an SME ticking over for a year. And some of that in the past 6 weeks or so!

Why are some young women put off Feminism? I dunno. I live in hope that the faith that they have in their male peers is not without foundation and that their generation really do have equality in their grasp.

In the meantime, I shall continue to challenge rape myths, advocate for the elimination of the real glass ceiling that sits within the domestic sphere and focus on women's liberation.

P. S. Xenia and scottishmummy are not radical feminists, as far as I am aware. And analysis of a choice is not criticism of that choice. Please don't lump me (or others like me) in with the former when I am doing the latter.

I can't find any threats on the Facebook page- are they on twitter? I have to say that the Facebook page seem to be mostly men doing their usual "what are feminists doing about male homelessness" routine and women saying "I am not a feminist because I love my husband" Not much deep analysis going on- and the beginnings of a serious MRA takeover.

The following are actual threats, made to a feminist by both men and women. I'm sorry if they make you feel nauseous, they would do that to any human being. She received these threats because she had the temerity to give a speech about domestic violence and rape. I really apologise that they will be horribly triggering to a lot of women.
