22 yo man murders 7 people as revenge for women not sleeping with him.

"Why are girls sexually attracted to obnoxious, brutish men instead of sophisticated gentlemen such as myself?"

'"Random street violence actually affects men more"

If you take sexual crimes out of the figures.'

Again you conveniently missed out where I already stated this.

Hilarious.

KoalaFace · 27/05/2014 23:05

Mine are tingling too MrsTerryPratchett Grin

AskBasil · 27/05/2014 23:06

you keep on stating that it is more common for poorer women to be raped.

But you keep on not posting any evidence whatsoever for that assertion.

AskBasil I posted a link upthread about it...hold on...

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:06

'22honey you know fuck all about feminists as is staggeringly apparent on this post.'

I clearly know more than many here. Many 'feminists' on this thread didn't even know poorer women were more likely to be abused. Shows how much they know about feminism.

Or are you trying to say you must hold the radicalised views of many members of this board in order to be a feminist or know 'fuck all' about them?

AskBasil · 27/05/2014 23:07

So why are you taking sexual violence out of the figures?

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:08

Heres one source AskBasil:

www.wncwoman.com/2013/09/30/trapped-by-poverty-trapped-by-abuse/

Someone else also posted one above. Why not research it seeing as though you care so much about feminism...or do you not care about issues affecting poorer women?

scallopsrgreat · 27/05/2014 23:09

22honey could you stop dismissing women's experiences. It isn't feminist. Nobody is dismissing your experiences or minimising them. And this constant focus on women or feminist's supposed behaviour is detracting from the behaviour of the man who killed these men and women. This is what living in a patriarchy does. Stops you focusing on the perpetrators horrific actions and keeps the focus on the victims.

He killed 6 people because he couldn't have access to women's bodies and he felt entitled to that.

Men kill women Every. Single. Day. for exactly the same reasons.

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:10

I wasn't taking it out the equation...are you saying stranger violence doesnt happen more to men?

Why MUST sexual violence be included? Why are you disregarding that stranger rape is rare (the rape that happened to these middle class women)?

AskBasil · 27/05/2014 23:10

LOL at you assuming you know what I care about

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:10

Mrsterry your link doesnt work.

JanineStHubbins · 27/05/2014 23:11

Why MUST sexual violence be included?

Because sexual violence is a form of violence.

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:12

'Violence, for women, is both a cause and a consequence of poverty - violence keeps women poor, and poor women are most exposed to violence. '

www.amnesty.org/en/news-and-updates/feature-stories/women-violence-and-poverty-20091125

LoveSardines · 27/05/2014 23:13

22honey the point is that poorer women and richer women are both more likely to be raped than men.

That is the point.

Other risk factors which can be added to being female include ones I listed earlier, for example, disability, living in a war zone, substance dependence, poverty and so on. The fact that you have had nothing to say about any of these additional risk factors apart from poverty is difficult to understand.

What is your point here. What are you saying the response should be to violence against women, sexual violence against women. What in practical terms do you want to see done. What globally would you like to see to improve the situation. I am struggling to see anything apart from "middle class women are the root of all evil" to be honest.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/05/2014 23:13

Damn 22. Hold on again... No, it works for me.

I can't cut and paste but essentially women from 20K households. (Myhill & Allen 2002).

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:14

Does more stranger sexual violence happen to women than stranger assault on men?

What is the point in this very discussion? You are more likely to be physically attacked out and about by a stranger if you were a man. You are only shoehorning sexual violence into this equation because that affects more women...everyone knows this already so what is your agenda?

LoveSardines · 27/05/2014 23:15

"Why MUST sexual violence be included?"

Because this is the FWR section and sexual violence happens predominantly to women but is handily excluded from stats?

I mean, come on.

22honey · 27/05/2014 23:15

'disability, living in a war zone, substance dependence,'

the common denominator? A large amount of these people will already be in poverty.

AskBasil · 27/05/2014 23:16

Thanks TP.

Sexual violence doesn't have to be included, but why not take racial violence out as well?

Why not take out homophobic violence, or anti-semitic violence, or islamaphobic violence?

That link is detailing why poorer women have far more difficulty escaping violence and it's something we all know because we've done the reading. What it doesn't say, is that poorer women are actually more likely to be subjected to abuse, which is what you keep asserting. (I don't just mean sexual abuse I mean any form of abuse.)

Also, you imply that mainly middle class women (such as the ones in John Worboys' cab) are subject to stranger rape. Is that true?

LoveSardines · 27/05/2014 23:17

Shoehorning?

Shock

So you would exclude what you describe yourself as violence ie sexual violence because it happens predominantly to women?

Someone has an agenda here that's for sure.

KoalaFace · 27/05/2014 23:17

22honey Earlier on the thread when you talked about people saying "prostitutes are women who fuck other women's husbands for money" were they middle class white women? Have you been treated badly by middle class women? I'm trying to understand where you are coming from.

TheGirlFromIpanema · 27/05/2014 23:17
Confused

Strange thread. Honey, all you alright

scallopsrgreat · 27/05/2014 23:18

The violence is all still perpetrated by men 22.

Men are not discouraged from walking home alone at night, have what they wear analysed when they've been attacked, suggested that they should have pleased the perpetrator of the murders so that he may not have murdered.
