Anybody see this? It was just horrific. I really, really hope it reached the right audience: punters and their defenders. I doubt it, but I hope so Sad

I'm sorry you didn't understand my excellent post. I'm going to report you for being boring.

But the power to obtain sex isn't power Confused. Power gives you some kind of strength or achievement. Something that other people want e.g. money, status, political clout.

Obtaining sex seems a bit well bit of a kind of 2nd/3rd class kind of power i.e. not real power at all in fact.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 01:52

“Obtaining sex seems a bit well bit of a kind of 2nd/3rd class kind of power”

Well, that is a very female view. Men would disagree.

“Are you saying that Briar's friend's problem is that she is seeking a relationship and if she would give up on seeking a relationship and concentrate on just sex, she would pull that 20 year old Adonis?”

In situations in which a 20-something gets off with a 50-something, the young lad is usually in it for sex, either once or on an occasional basis. Most 50+ women should know this, but some get more involved than they should and blame the chap for the ensuing disaster. Briar’s ‘friend’ could pull any age group but would be better advised to look closer to her own age for a relationship which actually works.

Briar speaks of her ‘disabled fat 50 year-old-friend’ as if this were the bottom of the heap in male eyes, but let us not forget necrophilia: even dead women can ‘pull’.

If there were some way of exchanging men’s money, status, political power, educational advantage, etc. for the sexual power and choice that women have, men would do this immediately.

You are lying, you know you are. Do you really expect the chair of the board of say, Proctor and Gamble, would ever say, "I am going to give all of this up, the big house, the cars, the lobbying power, the obscene amounts of money I make, because I have suddenly discovered that I can go and pull every time I fancy a fuck"?

"Obtaining sex seems a bit well bit of a kind of 2nd/3rd class kind of power”

Well, that is a very female view. Men would disagree.

No, they wouldn't. Given the choice between money, cars and actual real power, and being able to get laid when they fancy, all men would choose the former 99.9% of the time. Money and power tends to have the added bonus of being able to attract a mate quite happily, even if the possessor of that money and influence has been caught on camera assaulting his previous partner.

Briar speaks of her ‘disabled fat 50 year-old-friend’ as if this were the bottom of the heap in male eyes, but let us not forget necrophilia: even dead women can ‘pull’.

Ah, so you're on a wind-up. Sorry, for a moment there I thought you actually believed any of the crap you were typing. Necrophilia, even dead women can pull? Is that an actual PUA 'thing'?

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:05

Yes. Yes, although in this case, his position may attract enough women already. One of his business development people, who works a 100-hour week, might be more inclined to swop his ‘prestigious’ job for sexual power. As for a male solicitor doing a 65-hour week struggling through commercial leases and having to spend half the day on the phone to difficult clients, I suspect that he might exchange that for sex on tap.

I am not lying: you are the one who is ignorantly and mendaciously pretending to think otherwise.

“Money and power tends to have the added bonus of being able to attract a mate quite happily”

It’s not an added bonus: it’s a central attribute of the money/power. Rock stars get through thousands of women. However, most men’s jobs do not carry this perk. It applies only to the top of the tree.

Lyndon Johnson, who is slowly emerging to history as the most pathologically driven politician of the mid-20th century, said that he ‘had more women by accident than JFK had by trying’. He illustrates the approach of the truly powerful: they have their women on a regular basis during their political rise, and a basic harem is sorted out before they then do what someone mentioned earlier – go after more power (and yet more women) for the sake of it.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:12

Why did Red use the expression: 'if she would give up...' rather than 'if she gave up...' Is she an American? (An academic one in a lofty ivory tower, I have no doubt.)

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:16

What is this obsession with PUA advisors? They are just hands-on social skills trainers. I have seen some at work on TV, and the initially sceptical narrator often turns out surprised when the PUA guys are filmed succeeding in their own right and successfully training others.

AnyFucker · 29/05/2014 08:17

Who are these pontificating, pedantic, posturing , paternalistic pillocks ?

Is there a special place where they are manufactured ? Are they all the same PPPPP ?

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:25

We seem to have lost sight of Elliot Rodger, the California shooter. If someone had magically offered him the choice of swapping his BMW, Armani shades and education, in exchange for sex on tap, he would have accepted. He described the previous eight years of his education as 'a waste of time', and, indeed, his time since puberty as 'agony'. I hear that a lot from men in their Thirties going through a sexually dry patch: 'I'm a solicitor in the prime of life and I'm doing all this work, day after day after day - for nothing: I might as well not be alive'.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:31

"Who are these pontificating, pedantic, posturing , paternalistic pillocks ?"

A frivolous and vexatious question, M’Lud.

LoveSardines · 29/05/2014 08:31

Hmm and some men wonder why women won't have sex with them. It seems quite obvious to me Hmm

Still, it seems that if we want to stop all the ills of the world, we can do so simply by saying that females must have sex with any man who says he wants them. Job done!

Oh hold on, following this argument, and if we assume men are in fact like a certain poster says they are, then the same offering needs to be there for gay men. I'm sure men will get on board with that - after all we can't have sexually unsatisfied men around the place, that would be dangerous. Sounds like a plan Smile

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:33

I hope for assonance and I get alliteration. Such is the modern poster.

AnyFucker · 29/05/2014 08:40

Well yes, but he was a psychopathic, narcissistic murderer

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:40

There are few sexually starved gay men, as gay men do not have to combat the strictures of female sexuality and can be as promiscuous as they like. Many clients of gay prostitutes are bi-curious men in socially conservative areas, where things are not so open. As far as the principle of mercy fucks is concerned, then yes, gay men should also have some if there is someone willing to do it - just as I said about heterosexual mercy fucks. Why not? Obviously only a minority of women and men will be sufficiently generous and uninhibited to do it, but a 1% improvement is better than none.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:44

"Well yes, but he was a psychopathic, narcissistic murderer"

I read him more as mild Asperger's, with an ancilliary sociopathic condition. Sometimes the two will occur in one person, and any stressor, as the profilers say, will send him over the edge, but, from the video, his prime character trait seemed to be immaturity.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:46

"Still, it seems that if we want to stop all the ills of the world, we can do so simply by saying that females must have sex with any man who says he wants them. Job done!"

Have you ever lifted a finger to help anyone in any circumstances in your entire life?

FloraFox · 29/05/2014 08:49

"uninhibited" when used by PUA / MRA / pimp lobbyists = a woman's ability to dissociate herself from sexual behaviour and to subordinate her sexual gratification in favour of the gratification of the man with whom she does not desire sex.

Never used to encourage straight men into gay prostitution.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:49

"Well yes, but he was a psychopathic, narcissistic murderer"

If society had treated him better in general, we might have got away with sociopathic and narcissistic, without the hat trick.

HelpmeGeldof · 29/05/2014 08:52

'"uninhibited" when used by PUA / MRA / pimp lobbyists = a woman's ability to dissociate herself from sexual behaviour and to subordinate her sexual gratification in favour of the gratification of the man with whom she does not desire sex.'

Their mission is to charm the woman into wanting sex - or at least a date.

"Never used to encourage straight men into gay prostitution."

I have heard it thus used - during Thatcher's first recession.

LoveSardines · 29/05/2014 08:54

"There are few sexually starved gay men, as gay men do not have to combat the strictures of female sexuality and can be as promiscuous as they like. "

Woah hold up there.

Really? I mean, really???????

Am lol at all this actually.

Gay men all promiscuous and not picky CHECK
Women all uptight, no sexual preferences of their own, only have sex for reasons other than their own pleasure / preference CHECK

Oooh and look personal attack on a poster who said something poor diddums didn't like CHECK

Brilliant.

What's next? Can't wait Grin

FloraFox · 29/05/2014 08:55

You were talking about "mercy fucks", not charm. Most women have encountered creepy guys trying to get a "pity fuck". It's just another boundary crossing technique.

What's your involvement with PUA, PBP?

LoveSardines · 29/05/2014 08:55

"Sometimes the two will occur in one person, and any stressor, as the profilers say, will send him over the edge, but, from the video, his prime character trait seemed to be immaturity."

Have you been watching criminal minds again? Hmmmmmm?

lol

LoveSardines · 29/05/2014 08:57

No no Flora if a man who seems violent, disturbed or creepy approaches us for sex we should ALWAYS say yes, as it's our public duty!

So that guy who followed me on the tube when I was 14 - the one who obviously slept rough and was fucking terrifying - should I have had a quick one with him down an alleyway somewhere? Hell Yes!!!!!! To make him feel better, you know?

Poor blokes.
