Would you be upset if your OH went on a website showing pictures of women's breasts?

And then linked it on an internet forum so everyone else can admire them?

Because (and I know it's bad form to link to other MN threads) there is a thread elsewhere on this site linking to men's penises and everyone is rating them.

Difference if men did it? Or am I just being prudish?

I think it is definitely society makes women act like they dont like admiring male bodies. As a joke present my mil bought me a getting married guide from 1974. It said in it women underestimate the importance of the physical feeling of sex to a men, for a woman sexual desire is more of a longing for a husband, a baby or a nice home.Confused

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 18:02

Sorry Eats. I can see that came across as snappy, I didn't mean it to at all. Just getting frustrated. As usual.

That's shocking, molly! But it is a really prevalent attitude, even now.

thechairmanmeow · 19/06/2012 18:42

yellow i said that from my observations women dont react the same way to a naked man as men do to a naked women.

now, you took this to mean "yellow, you dont like cocks". how you got from the first place to the latter is beyond me. but actually it isnt about that is it?

you havent even said how you feel about cocks, my generalisation is just a hook for you to grab to have a self-richious bullying, and you know i'm male so i get all i deserve, your just like the MRA's they have a fundemantal dislike of the opposite sex too.

and you like kicking penises, by your own admission.

btw, i dont think feminists are frustrated and humourless, i just think you are.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 19/06/2012 18:51

yellow - no problem

chairman - how do you know women don't react the same way to a naked man as men do to a naked woman. Love the hetero normative assumptions by the way

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 19:07

The kicking penises was a joke. Oh now YOU can't take a joke.

Ha ha ha at not liking men.

Sure. You keep telling yourself that.

Let me know when you find a feminist ANYWHERE who agrees with what you have to say.

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 19:13

I really wonder how you think I can take you seriously when you say I hate men thechairmanmeow . It's so obvious that I don't that it then makes it impossible to listen to anything you have to say because you just have no idea.

I LIVE with a man - a beer-swilling, bed-hogging, football-watching, stinking, hairy man. The idea that I hate men is ridiculous.

I do bloody hate men who want to tell me what I think though.

thechairmanmeow · 19/06/2012 19:20

i dont care if you take me seriously or not, your a very unpleasent person , i dont want to engage with you anymore, your mind is made up about me because i'm a man. so there is no point

eats,

^i'm male , sure most of you know that by now, i have no problem with women looking at cocks and rating them.

but women are not affected in the same way when they see a a cock as when a man see's a naked women, it's a fundemental difference between the sexes.

i'm not sure wether that makes it worse for men to rate women than women to rate men but, the fact is men have allways rated women , women rating men is quite new. but whats ok for one sex should be ok for another.^

this was my origonal post, in hindsight i should have said 'some women' or maybe 'women tend to', but clearly not all women are the same and i thought that went without saying when your making a generalisation, i certainly diddnt think someone would assume i could tell them how they felt.

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 19:27

Fine, disengage, but understand that being a male has nothing to do with it. Being a male who is clearly deeply anti-feminist has everything to do with it.

There is no "women tend to".

pornmonkey · 21/06/2012 01:09

Yes there is, could think of hundreds of examples. And men tend to. And teenage boys tend to. And teenage girls tend to. etc etc.

garlicbum · 22/06/2012 00:38

I love this topic - visual excitement, what makes a body sexual, blah de blah - over a long evening out with friends.

But the Embarrassing Bodies site serves a damn useful purpose imo and it's hopelessly wrong to talk about it as if it were soft porn. The whole point of the penis, vulva & breasts galleries is to show us all what real body parts look like, by contrast with the current beauty stereotypes of both sexes. It's counter-porn, if you like. So is the vagina wall :)

Personally, I don't think it's any worse to go "Cripes, that's an odd one!" at a picture of a penis or a vulva than at a nose or an ear. Though I'd be well pissed off if the body part under scrutiny were mine!
