Was Bristol Palin raped?

darleneoconnor · 20/06/2011 11:16

according to this bristol palin was so drunk when she conceived her son that she doesn't remember having sex.

Sounds like rape to me.

Then she was basically 'forced' to marry her rapist? WTF! Sometimes America sounds more like the middle east!

Quite a few forums are discussing this, with some

disgusting rape myths on this forum

Dittany - who is the 'MRA gang' on this thread of whom you write?

The debate started off interesting, but then you and a few other posters starting defaming posters who disagreed with you by calling them MRAs, anti-feminist, colluding with the patriarchy etc and reminding us how bad rape is.

People don't post here to be given a lecture or judged - like the rest of MN, it is supposed to be a public forum where differing views are to be expected. You undermine your arguments when you resort to bringing up things from otter threads rather than sticking to the OP.

Findnofun · 25/06/2011 18:11

I think Dittany's posts help fathers rights more than any MRA postings ever could.

So thanks for that, and keep posting.

Hully, I can't take you seriously after all your crap with the "I'll kill myself" just because you didn't like what I was saying

Come off it Dittany...you are being disingenuous if you are saying that you think that was Hullys intention.

'it's been pointed out'

It's an opinion Dittany, not fact because it's your opinion. It's part of the debate, not being defensive! God you're good at twisting threads though.

reelingintheyears · 25/06/2011 18:32

Only just got here having read through the later stuff.

But you did imply that that statement meant you can't take her seriously.

Dittany,can i ask you a genuine question?

Do you think families do need fathers?

And i'm not looking for reasons why they don't but reasons you might think that they do.

I think It's absolutely ok to raise matters that another poster have themselves raised on other threads - it aids a consistency in debate. I had skimmed the FS just now and noticed dadof2 was happy to declare himself a feminist, whilst also stating he fails to see how pronography is an objectification. ( wasn't helped by being previously banned I understand, which I think is a well-resreved sanction).

FWIW I would also be careful about the org. FNF, as it declares an interest in maintaining 'second parent contact' and equality of legal status, with no qualifying conditions. If I were to be an abusive chap then I would be attracted to such an org. ( not indicating ALL users are abusive, obv.).

again FWIW, asking if 'families need fathers' is a difficult one to answer. The expereince of families is specific and individual.

reelingintheyears · 25/06/2011 18:43

Ok.....Do children need their Fathers?

Easy enough.

sacredcow · 25/06/2011 18:43

Jesus all this uproar just because it's been pointed out that calling Bristol Palin a liar is misogynistic and insisting that teenage girls lie is also misogynistic.

Taking the first part of that statement - The discussion wasn't that Bristol Pailin lied, it was that she might have lied as she was put in an absolutely appalling position by her own mother. Its a valid point.

The second bit is a nonsense. I have a teenage girl and she can lie through her teeth! Saying that isn't misogynistic. In fact I'd suggest that the suggestion that a teenage girl can't do something as basic as lying is misogynistic.

Just a thought.

But what's misogynistic is that it's the women and girls' version of events which is always scrutinised harder.

It's well-known that women fail to report sexual abuse/rape because they fear they won't be believed, and that doesn't come out of nowhere.
