Was Bristol Palin raped?

darleneoconnor · 20/06/2011 11:16

according to this bristol palin was so drunk when she conceived her son that she doesn't remember having sex.

Sounds like rape to me.

Then she was basically 'forced' to marry her rapist? WTF! Sometimes America sounds more like the middle east!

Quite a few forums are discussing this, with some

disgusting rape myths on this forum

everyone

karmakameleon · 23/06/2011 10:55

On the basis of what she has said, she was raped and he is a rapist.

Hullygully · 23/06/2011 10:57

So prosecute him

karmakameleon · 23/06/2011 10:57

And some are concerned to be cautious and just.

TheBossofMe · 23/06/2011 10:58

Hully, she says its what happened. Its not just a snippet of an interview on a dubious site, the Associated Press has a pre-release copy of the whole book and they are reporting it as such, with no denial from Palin

So, if she says its what happened, either she's a liar or he (in UK law anyway) is a rapist. One or the other is true, and I'm from sad experience more inclined to believe that a teenage boy would take advantage of a young girl when drunk than to believe a teenage girl would lie about losing her virginity in such hideous circumstances.

Hullygully · 23/06/2011 10:58

You saying he's a rapist don't make it so.

Do you really not see how unfair to him it is?

where?

TheBossofMe · 23/06/2011 11:05

Hully - there's a man walking around today who I know is a rapist. He may never have been prosecuted, he may never have been found guilty in a court of law, but I know he's a rapist. Never being prosecuted doesn't change that.

And I suspect that one day, deep down inside, Bristol will equally know that Levi is a rapist. I don't think she'll ever come out and say that, given he's the father of her child, but I think one day she will know.

Yes, age of consent is very important to protect young girls. Men all know what the age of consent is and really they have no excuse for raping girls under it.

Hullygully · 23/06/2011 11:08

hahahahahahaha

Yep, every Afghani is a stone age dweller. Right on.

And I know why the age of consent was introduced. But we are talking about now, and girls of 15 who consent because they enjoy their sexuality.

Hullygully · 23/06/2011 11:09

I'm going to have to give up - work to be done.

Ok, so Bristol Palin is a hapless child who was forced to get drunk and be impregnated by rapist Levi.

Happy?

Pretty much every report I;ve read has the AP as source.

"NEW YORK (AP) -- Bristol Palin writes in her new book of losing her virginity to boyfriend Levi Johnston on a camping trip after getting drunk for the first time on too many wine coolers.

She awoke in her tent, alone, with no memories of what had happened as Johnston "talked with his friends on the other side of the canvas." She had vowed to wait until marriage. And she had lied to her parents about where she was going.

Palin, a 20-year-old single mother and the daughter of former Alaska Republican Gov. Sarah Palin, tells a story of "deception and disappointment" in the book, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far."

The memoir, co-written with Nancy French, is scheduled for publication by William Morrow this week. The Associated Press purchased a copy Friday."

One of many links with same info is here, from an AP member :

You know, you're right, Dittany, I had never realised that about myself.

I do think that. I think that all men from 8-80 should be allowed, nay encouraged, to go out and about raping and impregnating any female of any age as whim takes them.

How could I have been so wrong?

Thank you for helping me see the error of my ways.

oh you're right, you're right

I shall just have to kill myself

Hullygully · 23/06/2011 11:25

I know, I'll pop over to Afghanistan, dig a pit, and stone myself

Bennifer · 23/06/2011 11:27

It's painful watching this argument. So much hatred for women, it's a wonder why we need men to hate women.

Boss, just read that Huffington Post article you linked to. His reaction to her pregnancy says a lot about his attitutes to women doesn't it?

Hullygully · 23/06/2011 11:32
TheBossofMe · 23/06/2011 11:33

Bennifer - really, I don't see any hatred for women, just women trying to do their best to protect each other. The rest is just semantics and debate about the best way to do that. We may disagree on some things, but I don't think anyone would disagree that we want our children to be safe from assault.

FWIW, I think this section is amongst the most supportive communities on MN. Its helped me beyond measure in recent months.
