Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

So what would our slogan be?

We would quite like a slogan to go on the banner for marches, and I thought it would be nice to discuss it more widely than just the feminist crafters.

Suggestions so far:

The hand that rocks the cradle can [also] change the world

Agitate, educate, organise (this was an NUM local branch slogan; we might be able to come up with a variation.)

You want badges? I do badges. I also do keyrings and fridge magnets.
And am perfectly happy to do single badges/keyrings/fridgemagnets for those whose slogan wasn't a vote winner but who want a badge with it on anyway.

SpringchickenGoldBrass · 16/03/2011 14:56

I can't do mugs, sorry. I have looked into it for my own concerns but at the moment the costs are too excessive. As for the stuff I do, I can keep the costs pretty reasonable because I buy components in bulk.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/03/2011 15:09

How much for a load of badges then SGB?

SpringchickenGoldBrass · 16/03/2011 15:55

My wholesale rate is generally £10 for 50 badges, £17.50 for 100. Plus £1 for postage - anyone who wants two or three, that would be 50 per badge and 50p postage for anything up to 10 badges.
Bulk orders don't all have to be the same slogan, though (for example) 50 different new designs I would charge a bit more for, because of the extra work in actually laying out the artwork and getting it to fit in the frame (which can be a bit of a bugger...)

I think:
"Y..A..B..U...dum de dum de something doo" woould make an excellent chant.

Not sure what the other bits would be, like...

I totally think we should get these slogans on badges and stuff, maybe sell them and donate any money made to something appropiate, like women's aid?

There's a lot of us who really struggle to make it to marches (esp ones all the way down in London) but would be keen to wear badges and so on.

(PS I want feminist baby clothes!)

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 16/03/2011 20:53

that's a great idea Butterpie.
maybe SGB could sell us badges at slightly more than her usual rate with the price including a donation to an appropriate charity? I would certainly pay more than 50p for 'Mumsnet Feminists - Consciousness-raising 2.0' and 'Patriarchy YABVU' badges.

I was thinking along the same lines: adding a donation to (for instance) Refuge? or whatever the leading light in women's sexual health/pro choice organisation is these days?
