Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

So what would our slogan be?

We would quite like a slogan to go on the banner for marches, and I thought it would be nice to discuss it more widely than just the feminist crafters.

Suggestions so far:

The hand that rocks the cradle can [also] change the world

Agitate, educate, organise (this was an NUM local branch slogan; we might be able to come up with a variation.)

Equality not Priority

We're not possessions,
Don't need concessions
We want equal rights
And Equal Might!

Reminds me of the T shirt I had when a students

"A Woman's place is in the House....of Representatives"

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 14/03/2011 10:33

ROFL at Dave Watts's appearance

I love the idea of a Patriarchy YABVU mug/t-shirt etc. Actually t-shirts with that on - I'm picturing black with a discreet MN (with feminist bits) logo somewhere and that slogan in big hot pink tattered letters across the front - would be very nice. :)

DaveWatts · 14/03/2011 11:05

Elephants, eh? Have you ever considered changing your name?

I think DaveWattsandMiasmas would suit you down to the ground.

Marvellous marvellous. Grin

who is that hiding behind Dave Watts there?

This is reminding me of my mate's game when she was a kid where they'd phone some random person and leave a message for them to call 'Mrs Lion' and leave the number of Edinburgh zoo.

Grumpla · 14/03/2011 20:28

Right, I think we need to draw a line under this silliness.

I will be closing the vote tonight as at the moment I am spending too much time obsessively checking it and not enough time footling about on the internet doing useful things.

And if 3,000 of you vote for "We Heart Dave Watts" in the next few hours I will be VERY CROSS INDEED.

:D

DaveWatts · 14/03/2011 21:53

Tonight?

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 14/03/2011 21:54

Are you going to announce it? do we have to stay up till midnight?
please don't make us stay up till 3am like in the General Election!

steamedtreaclesponge · 15/03/2011 08:44

Sooo... what won?

Are we going to have to start making Dave Watts badges?

Grumpla · 15/03/2011 19:06

And the winner is:

RAISING THE REVOLUTION!!! with 17 votes for first choice and 3 for second choice.

In second place:

Consciousness-Raising 2.0 (4 votes for first choice, which would have tied it with Liberty, Equality, Maternity but for the whopping SIX second-choice votes it also gathered.)

Here's the list again for those who can't be arsed to scroll through the whole thread.

Please note, voting is now CLOSED.

Who's in charge of actually making the banner?!?!

Patriarchy: YABVU
Raising the Revolution!
Consciousness-Raising 2.0
Mumsnet: Ramming The Message Home
Resist, Do Not Comply
Handmaidens Of The Matriarchy
Mums, Nyet!
