Why is practically every human society across all times, places and cultures dominated by men?
I have read that War on Women article that MillyR linked to. It's chilling. Why is it everywhere?

I would be interested in your thoughts, or maybe there is actually a simple, widely accepted answer that I could be pointed to.

yes, I agree with that Milly. I agree you can't cut and past some random speculations onto today's society. that's evolutionary psychology bollocks.

It's just that I have seen a lot of feminists denying that we are mammals (see couple of recent threads for good examples) and denying that we have simple animal instincts such as the drive to reproduce, or the mother's biological drive to nurture her newborn. For some feminists the fact that quite a lot of women want to be with their babies, and notably moreso than men, doesn't suit their agenda. THis idea that men are going to give up 50% of power to women and take over 50% of childcare is just nonsense.

So I've realised I'm a RAD feminist. I just don't see any way out of oppression by tweaking bits of society here and there.
So I think, as claig said, the only way we can do anything is by facing our human nature. There are lots of political solutions such as fighting for a socialist-type society where wealth and power is distributed by law towards women.
