I was thinking of starting a book club on here for people who are keen readers. I normally read true life memoirs like 'My Sisters Keeper'.

I was thinking we could choose a book to read. Allow a couple of weeks to read it, then when you have finished, come on here to discuss thoughts etc...

Anyone interested let me know asap! Just finished a book and want to start a new one!

Hi everyone!
I have just tallied up and so far we are at

The Tiger's Child - 12
Shadow of the Wind - 1

Sorry Spykid but at the moment you are a 'bit' out numbered!

Definately a good idea to read that next time though!

Is it good so far Spykid?

Does it go One Child, The Tigers Child then Beautiful Child?

spykid · 21/05/2005 18:47

wendy33, it is a really compelling read, had it recommended by my sister.

wendy33 · 21/05/2005 18:57

One Child is the 1st
The Tiger's Child is the 2nd
Beautiful Child is unrelated to the first two but is still written by the same author when she was working as a SEN teacher

OK. Just looked on amazon and they were all together. Is there a third?

sarahlou1 · 21/05/2005 19:53

I'm happy with Tigers Child - haven't read One Child - do I need to before reading Tigers Child or do they stand alone??

sarahlou1 · 21/05/2005 19:55

Sorry - just read the thread - question answered earlier on!!

QueenEagle · 21/05/2005 19:58

I am assuming that the Tigers Child is on the bestsellers list at the moment and easy enough to get hold of?? I'm happy to go with that choice as it seems like the majority!!!

dh won't get a word out of me when I've got my head buried in a book!!!

Louise1980 · 22/05/2005 11:26

I have just bought mine at ASda today and they had loads. It was £3.73, a bargain. One Child was also there for £2.97!

When do we start reading?

Can I make a suggestion that we start a new thread for each book? That way its easier to look back on? Just a thought.

Nemo1977 · 22/05/2005 12:01

louise i was going to say the same so if the thread is the books title it would make it obivous.

Louise1980 · 22/05/2005 14:22

Great minds think alike Nemo!!!

Hi Everyone.

We have had a few suggestions that this will be our second book to review. Please post your thoughts on this.

What I was going to do was open up a new thread with the name of the book and review as follows

'Mumsnet Book Review - The Tiger's Child'

that way we know only to access the thread once we have finished the book so no-one reads about anything they dont want to hear until they reach the end.

I will start the new thread on

Sunday 5th June which will be our deadline

Sounds good to me.... now must go and find this book!

wendy33 · 22/05/2005 16:56

If you look further down the thread there is a couple of places to buy it quite cheaply.

Asda I think is only about £3

I will check if Tesco's have it then. Are we starting tonight then and is it 2 weeks to read it??

wendy33 · 22/05/2005 17:27

Yes we will start tonight. A few of the others will b coming on at about 800 tonight as I said this is the time to check to see what the choice of book is.

We have two weeks from todays date to read the book then we will all post messages about the book on the new thread which I will start on The deadline date.

Any queations or probs anyone??

starshaker · 22/05/2005 22:48

started tigers child yesterday and no u dont have to read one child first as the first 3 chapters give u a brief rundown on it although u dont get the full thing obviously.

Rockydog · 23/05/2005 07:45

hi everyone - i know you don't really know me anyway but just wanted to apologise as I don't think I'm going to be able to join in (I said I would). Two weeks just isn't long enough to get the book and get it read I'm afraid (or not for me anyway) - too much else going on and logistically would prob take 3-5 days to get each book (small town = small library and no car so Amazon/internet book shopping). A month would have been a better timeframe - a book a month.

Oh well, enjoy! thanks anyway. rd x

Louise1980 · 23/05/2005 12:08

Rockdog I would also prefer a month to read the book as Im at uni and I work. Wendy any chance we an stretch it by another 2weeks?

cori · 23/05/2005 14:36

I have bought the book today. How long do we have to read it?
