Thanks dontdream it, once everyone's made the leap I was thinking of trying to get the old thread deleted as it's got everyone's email addresses on it.

Think I can stretch to £2. Better be really good though!

MegBusset · 07/01/2008 23:42

Hi

Looking forward to seeing what the postie brings tomorrow!

DontDreamItBeIt · 07/01/2008 23:59

Good idea Mybaby

I liked it....it was a birthday present. I never buy books any more. I only read them once and it is just too expensive.

That's what libraries are for

I am really lucky, I have Hay-on-wye just down the road, about 20 minutes away. Infact it is such a good place to go I have to ration myself or I bring back carrier bags of books and can't find anywhere to put them. I already have a 6 foot long by six foot wide set of built shelving that is stuffed to the ceiling with books and I am going to have to get some shelves to take DS's Home educating stuff. He, He, another excuse to go to Hat-on-wye. LOL.

MegBusset · 08/01/2008 13:00

My book has arrived! Are we saying what we've received now?

Also, I just realised that the book I sent isn't that long and might not last the full month, hope that's not a problem, at least it will give everyone a breather between the big epics!

EachPeachPearMum · 08/01/2008 13:09

Hey- I don't want it to last all month - I'm in 2 other reading groups!

cyanarasamba · 08/01/2008 13:20

That wouldn't be my epic you're referring to Meg? Hope it's worth it!

My book arrived too, twas lovely to receive something nice in the post for once. Thanks yogabird! I have read it before but during a teenage "3 books a week" phase - and I remember nothing about it - so looking forward to reading it properly again.

So are we discussing the books yet? What's the form?

mairseydotes · 08/01/2008 20:33

my book has arrrived safe and sound from mybabysinthegarden! A very thoughtful choice thank you! Unfortunately it is one I have read very recently. Never mind! What is the form here? Can I pass it on early?

DontDreamItBeIt · 08/01/2008 20:59

Evening.

I'm just posting our list (without emails) so we don't lose it. I think it will be useful to know which way the books are going to keep track.

Mairsey - I would say keep it and send it on on the first Monday in Feb, as you won't get another book early now anyway.

I'm also hoping mine doesn't last a month....if a book takes me a month to read it is either a massive tome, or really boring

I think we are going to start an offshoot thread for each book to discuss them as we read them?
I'm not sure how it works really. I'll have a look at the other one from last year and see how they did it.

FlameNFurter · 08/01/2008 21:00

What are you lot up to then?

mybabysinthegarden · 08/01/2008 21:03

Oh rats mairsey. Would you like me to contact the MNer who's written a novel and ask her to send it to you? It's called Playing with the Moon by Elizabeth Graham and has lots of positive reviews on amazon.

MegBusset · 08/01/2008 21:21

Don'tDreamit, Ohlordy's no longer on the list as her computer's broken. So I've sent my book to Blanki

mairseydotes · 08/01/2008 21:27

no its okay mybaby, it might throw things out for everyone else
I can finish off my copy of Miss Smilla (my second attempt) while I wait for February

I did LOVE that book though!

yogabird · 08/01/2008 21:32

[people, we have an intruder-- from now on only speak in that special code we discussed]

mairseydotes · 08/01/2008 22:08

phew that was quick! Hope you like it!

DontDreamItBeIt · 08/01/2008 22:09

Flame. You following me???

I haven't got a book yet. >>

OP posts:
DontDreamItBeIt · 08/01/2008 22:11

Oh yes Meg. I didn't check properly, just found the least messy list I could.

OP posts:
FlameNFurter · 08/01/2008 22:19

What are you people?? I get the feeling books are being dished out/discussed and I want in next time. I think. You may be doing something completely different.

Jas - pure coincidence, honest guv. Are you keeping that name? I like it. Will it be wrong if you keep it and I still call you Jas?

End of questions (as long as someone responds), if not, tis the start of many

mybabysinthegarden · 08/01/2008 22:26

A few days ago, someone rashly started a thread saying, shall we start a book circle? and about eight thousand people replied-- I think there are a whole bunch starting now so if you trawl around adult fiction you can probably find one that's looking for people. Each person picks a book and sends it to another person on the list, and after a month that person sends it on and so on.

DontDreamItBeIt · 08/01/2008 22:26

I'm keeping the name (I like it too.It has a positive feel) and everyone who knows me is still calling me Jas (That would be you and the FLYladies)

We are doing a book circle. We all put in one book and post it to the person next on the list. We send one a month, and in a year we've all had twelve books.

We are the second chapter because we were all too late to join the first one, and there are two more that were set up after us (I think).
You might find one that is still getting organisedif you look....

DontDreamItBeIt · 08/01/2008 22:27

My Babysaid it all already

OP posts:
FlameNFurter · 08/01/2008 22:30

But I know lots of you

(whilst we're on it... anyone interested in a chainmail thing - you send a book to the person at the top of the list and send it on to 6 other people... you get oodles of books (used) at the end)
