have made a start on mine, not like my normal reading matter, intrigued would be too strong a word to describe how i feel about it yet. Am interested in what on earth the woman is doing it for and as to whether she has false arms? Why she is waering the glasses etc. thanks Mairseydotes

wheresthehamster · 10/01/2008 16:42

Hi discoverlife. Yes, it was waiting for me when I got in this evening thanks. Looks just the sort of thing I like so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in

discoverlife · 10/01/2008 18:52

Peachy have started yours, and am intrigued as well. Not my usual reading matter though, which is why I joined, to get out of my Science Fiction rut.

andyrobo237 · 10/01/2008 19:59

Mine is sitting at the PO as I cant get there until Saturday - cant wait though as I have finished my latest book from the Library!

discoverlife · 10/01/2008 21:20

Oh, Peachy, definatly a kleenex moment at the end. (Sorry guys I am a very, very quick reader) so I will drop the book off at my daughters tomorrow, she will definatly LOVE it. Thanks Peachy.
Hope you don't mind me calling you Peachy as I keep on forgetting how to spell your nick halfway through typing it.

EachPeachPearMum · 10/01/2008 22:09

Haha- its usually abbreviated to EPPM! Peach made me think PeachesMclean.

I'm so glad you liked it! I couldn't put it down- had to read in one session, even though I hadn't picked it up until 1:15 am!! I cried for ages afterward. Gave it to DH who also read through and blarted!

mairseydotes · 10/01/2008 22:15

yogabird...you will never drive the A9 again without a shiver.....

mybabysinthegarden · 10/01/2008 22:29

Mairsey, I think I can guess what your book is and I nearly sent you that one, but then rejected it due to your delicate condition! I am so psyched if it is, as after I read it I kept trying to get other people to read it so I would have someone to talk to about it.

Dontdreamit, did you see how we work this yet? Do we have separate threads for each book or just one big unruly one?

mairseydotes · 10/01/2008 22:41

how weird mybabys...I think that that book is a real word of mouth book (despite it winning the whitbread prize or whatever it was)
I read it when I wasn't pregnant and it has stayed with me.
I dont want to go on incase I spoil it but it was a top book!

I am off to stroke my glossy fur........

EachPeachPearMum · 10/01/2008 22:46

I haven't read anything by MF- is he good?

MegBusset · 10/01/2008 22:51

I am really curious to find out what all the other books are!

Might it be a bit of a thread overload if we have one for each book? With the other book club having 12 threads too...

yogabird · 11/01/2008 20:06

mairsey, it's so unlike anything i would ever choose to read. Glad i'm a long way from scotland. I am enjoying reading something so different, being right out of my comfortable reading rut that i've been trudging along in for a while. I'm about half way through and will dip into it again later

DontDreamItBeIt · 12/01/2008 08:34

The Quiche book club definitely has a thread for each book. As we are all going to read them over a long period it is the best way o do i I hink.
Then e just have one other current thread for chat/posting receivin books type stuff.
If we put the individual book threads o out threads I'm watching list as they are started, we won't lose them.

I'll start....

How do you do that. As in do the link.

DontDreamItBeIt · 12/01/2008 13:26

Intructions onlinking are to the right of the box you put your message in.

To link to my book thread you would have:

http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1377/455233?rnd=1200127008986 HoH by JM without the single space at the beginning to make it work.

If you try you can preview and if you've done it righ it will work on your preview.

but then we'll all know what the books are and i really liked the surprise when mine arrived - a bit like xmas but better cos i knew that it wasn;t going to be c=something useless that i g=had to pretend for!

DontDreamItBeIt · 12/01/2008 22:17

We can't all not talk about them until everyone's read them though. That will take a year!

Maybe we could do a thread for each book but not with the full title so you don't know unless you go oto the thread. Then yo just have to resist looking at them before you get them. Obviously too late for mine.

Oooh,we could just put the name of the book donor in the title, so mine would be " The Second Chapter - Prettymums book".

?? Any other ideas?

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 12/01/2008 22:46

Thats a great idea- but there's no way I won't sneak a look

MegBusset · 12/01/2008 23:08

The only thing is that the Adult Fiction topic on MN is already a bit overwhelmed with threads for the other club, if we add 12 more isn't it a bit unfair on those not in the clubs? Any other threads will get lost.

Should we ask the mighty Mumsnet if they could give the Book Clubs their own topic? That way we're separate from the general book discussions...

EachPeachPearMum · 14/01/2008 01:08

excellent idea meg!

DontDreamItBeIt · 14/01/2008 17:51

I've finished mine

I've asked mn to delete my other thread and the link, so we can start again once we have decide what to do.
I asked on Sat and it is still there I may have to ask again.

Been away for the weekend but had an hour with my book last night and I'm loving it! Can I say what it is yet?

andyrobo237 · 15/01/2008 20:54

Started mine last night - not my usual type of book (well I will read anything, but the cover would not have made me pick it up to read), but it is a good read so far!

I have n=managed to get on two book club swap things, so got another book in the post today - will have to make sure I rotate the correct book to the right group! that would be interesting!

Off to read it now!

what is the script on passing the books on - is there a set date - I am so confused!

DontDreamItBeIt · 15/01/2008 23:18

Mumsne towers have said yes to a book club section so we don't clog up adult fiction, but I've no idea how long it will take to get set up.

We are supposed to be posting our books on on the first Monday of the month, unless everyone has finished and agrees to send on earlier I guess.

I've finished mine, and it was a nice read, but if I have to wait a month tilI can mention it on here I will have completely forgotten it tbh

My link has gone, and the thread has disappeard o the bottom of the adult fiction section.

What are we goin to do now?
