I would like to think i would be moral enough to wait for the actual relese date but if i were presented with one earlier i don't know tbh.............

singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:10

How many copies have you all ordered?
We ordered 2 one for me one for ds and we are thinking of getting another from local bookshop as he's really good.Have we gone overboardMaybe but then all 3 of us will have our own copies to read

CharleeWeasley · 12/07/2007 13:12

We have got just the one from Waterstones in our local town.

It is only me who reads them DP finds reading really difficut so he reads them through me but watches the films avidley.

The kids are to young so just lil' old me

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 12/07/2007 13:16

I haven't pre-ordered. Like going to the shop to purchase in person.

kate100 · 12/07/2007 13:16

What a lot of guff!! It does make me sad to think that people have totally missed the point of the whole series, which is love can save, a very Christian message really It's not like they're all devil worshipping loons is it?

I'm at a wedding the day before the book comes out, so I will have to not go too mad so I can drive out for books from me and DH the followig morning. Is it possible not to get too drunk at an Irish wedding?

singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:16

We all read them except dd who is 7.My dp and ds take a while to get through them but I normally finish quite quickly and then read again.

singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:18

kate100 amazon are saying they can deliver to your door on day of release so you could get drunk and have book next morning to help you get over it

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 12/07/2007 13:21

Don't want to put a damper on you girls but Royal Mail are a bit strikey at the moment. They've got another one coming up tomorrow and Sat. Not sure I'd trust them.

rosmerta · 12/07/2007 13:26

I'm the only one reading them atm, dh not interested and think ds is a bit young at 17mo lol! But have mine ordered from Amazon so better be here first thing!

Did read the spoiler but eh??? Think they're just making it up for the sake of it!

HDM is fantastic, can't wait for the film for that either and the stage show was so well done!

singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:29

I think that if Royal mail strike for HP release they will have to answer not only to the general public but to a lot of dc's ie.their children or grandchildren shouting 'why mummy/daddy why?'

kate100 · 12/07/2007 13:30

I'll be in a castle in Killarney, do you think they'll deliver there? I did consider it, but DH thought I was mad!!

singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:30

You could always ring their customer service and ask.I would

PhoenixSongbird · 12/07/2007 13:32

Albus....[looks round anxiously]....are you me? I love Garth Nix, the Abhorsen trilogy is so good. One thing I really like is how it addresses sexual desire in a really down-to-earth way - so good for kids, I think.

I haven't pre-ordered either. I think I might go at midnight but I only live in a small town, there might only be a few of us! I might ask in Smiths (only bookshop for miles!) how many people came last time.

That reminds me, HBP came out when dd was 3 months old. These past two years have gone soooo quickly that I still see HBP as 'the new book', so DH coming out now seems quite soon to me - yippee!

rosmerta · 12/07/2007 13:35

Songbird, I had to read your post a couple of times before I got that you meant the book, I thought you were talking about your dh

Royal mail better not go on strike for next Sat, nothing will lose them support quicker than that!

rosmerta · 12/07/2007 13:40

Btw, does anyone think that this could be the longest thread on MN about one single topic? If it is, would we get a prize?

PhoenixSongbird · 12/07/2007 13:42

Yeah, dh has just come out, I'm OK with it, his male lover is really sexy!!

I made this point on one of the other threads (you're right, this is turning into a Slytherin's monster of a topic!). DD for Dumbledore is confusing as well!

OP posts:
singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:43

Don't know.Keeps going though and we haven't even started discussing the new book(as we haven't got it yet). This could just keep going really

singingmum · 12/07/2007 13:44

What if we all agree to type dh for hubbies in small letters and dd for daughters in small letters and the other in caps as is obv much more important right now

TransfiguratingLily · 12/07/2007 13:51

Ooh yep, love HDM and must have a look at Abhorsen trilogy then.
I've just started rereading HBP in readiness. My sis has ordered about 5 copies. We are having a hen party the nightb before, might take a typsy trip to Waterstones at midnight

crookshanks · 12/07/2007 13:54

Hi all,

Please reassure me that by buying online i am not going to regret it.

However my postie is not that reliable bless him, and sometimes doesn't deliver until 2pm and i don't want to be spoiled. So do i keep the online order, or get myself to the shops?

persephonesnape · 12/07/2007 13:57

ah - here you all are!

i am started to get tempted to find a waterstones at midnight in Derby now.

thrid = a thestral foal ( i did just make that up, so not really, but it should be!)

OOTP of sunday for us. dd(12) refuses point blank to be seen with us if ds1(9) and ds2(7) dress up. tempted to leave her at home.

singingmum · 12/07/2007 14:00

12yr olds are boring.Mine wouldn't dress like HP even though he has been asked by people(especially little dc's)if he is HP.
My grandmother saw a bubble bath bottle in HP likeness in my bathroom and asked if it was a statue of my son.She doesn't read HP obv. But gave us all a laugh even her.

PhoenixSongbird · 12/07/2007 14:04

[smiles benignly] Welcome, welcome, glad you could make it, take a seat if you can find one...

ah, kids grow up so much earlier these days, don't they? At 12 I was still a right spod, but within a year or two, what a mardy old whingebag. Tell dd1 to get over herself and that you wouldn't be seen dead with her in her normal clothes

OP posts:
PhoenixSongbird · 12/07/2007 14:04

LOL at thestral foal btw.

kate100 · 12/07/2007 14:07

Don't want to worry those of you that have ordered online, but my nephew's HBP did not arrive on the day and his mom had to go and get him one from Asda. I;ve never pre-ordered and have never had any trouble getting one on the day, if we weren't at this wedding, DH or I would be going out at midnight.

I was put in Hufflepuff on both sites and I'm most like Ron.

DH has also said he thinks Emma Watson has become gorgeous, but he feels a bit weird admitting it, as she's barely legal.
