Oh, and Crookshanks, if you go out without dh, he's not 'babysitting', he's just doing his fatherly duty . Does he never go out on his own? If he does, do you say you're babysitting?

Sorry, but this bugs me

no they didn't

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 09:23

it was very condensed.

MrsWeasley · 13/07/2007 09:26

It certainly was

On a good note Luna is adorable.
Kreacher made me laugh

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 09:30

but they missed out a lot of lunas quirkiness and that they all started out thinking she was bonkers.. like the radish earings and the butterbeer cork necklace. they also missed out that her dad is the editor of the quibbler-, and the whole bit where harry wrote an article for the paper....too much missed out.

MrsWeasley · 13/07/2007 09:34

yeah they did mention the necklace in passing.
Shame they didn't have Rita Skeeter in the pub with them. I was mostly disappointed with the "Great Battle" at the MOM more like a little scuffle IMO!

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:35

No MacGonagall scene, but she did the Trewlawney and Snape one, why not MacG???

Oh well, I always expect to be disappointed by them so really my expectations are so low I will probably enjoy it anyway.
I am at the end of HBP again, and am trying to spin it out til the new one comes out. Harry is just going to DD's office to go after the Horcrux. How can I make that last a week??? Only read it on the toilet

I don't want to read anything else in between.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 09:37

they made it a necklace with a charm on it.

the battle was too easy! they missed out all the doors etc didn't they?

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:37

So the battle was seriously cut. But then I suppose the only really imp bit from that is Sirius's death, the prophecy smashing and DD and V battling.

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:38

Necklace?? You mean Slytherin's??

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 09:39

the prophesy smashing was incidental.

and harry heard it too before it broke.

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:40

Is that so they didn't have to show it later with DD???

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:41

They tend to do that don't they, condense things so whole scenes later can be cut but all the pertinent info is still shown.

MrsWeasley · 13/07/2007 09:43

there you are BOM you have summed up the battle in your post!

Sirius did die (I was hoping they had decided to keep him alive for my viewing please ) It smashed (not like in the book) DD & V battled. the end of that was good in an OMG sort of way!

The bit I thought was exellent has Harrys reaction to Sirius death it was powerful but too damn short! they really could have had everyone weeping in their popcorn if they had tried a little bit harder (instead of just me weeping )

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:47

Was it good over all tho. I find that what they put in is good, but they miss out too much. But they are good for what they are, IYSWIM.

I think if you haven't read them you miss so much of the characters, but they seem to be developing well now it's the 5th film.

MrsWeasley · 13/07/2007 09:54

yes it was an good film. My DS (age 10) has been very critical of it. But he finished reading book 5 yesterday morning so again it was very fresh in his mind.

Am taking my 6 and 8 yo to see it on Sunday (along with dh) they havent read the books so will get a true reaction from them. IYSWIM

Its always the same I think, you look forward to certain bits and if they arent in it you are bound to be dissapointed.

I will certainly be buying it on DVD

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 09:56

That's good then. I just try to enjoy what they do put in.

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 13/07/2007 09:58

BoM - I love that McG bit too - just passed it in my rereading. this is teh umpteenth time Ive read this and Umbridge annoys me so much it hurts even though I know she gets her comeuppance. Oul bitch!! Im trying so hard to read slowly for clues!!

rosmerta · 13/07/2007 10:00

Me too. Though I'm still reading OotP atm so am bound to be a little bit disappointed! I accidentally ruined part of it for dh as well , I warned him I would probably be crying and he said 'why?' so I told him about Sirius dying [ooops]

BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 10:13

Oooh I thought of something reading HBP yesterday, but buggered if I can remember now

PhoenixSongbird · 13/07/2007 10:16

Right, I?m reading GOF again (no way I?ll get through OOTP and HBP before next Saturday is there?), and I?ve just read the bit where Harry and Voldemort duel by Riddle?s grave. It reminded me that there?s a green flash when the Avada Kedavra curse is used ? do you think this has something to do with Harry?s ?very important? green eyes?

Mind you, Lily had green eyes, and everyone says he has her eyes, so maybe not

I think it was this thread about the red vs green, and the moment where the wands connect V?s wand shoots green and Harry?s shoots red, and of course V?s eyes are red.

Pondering rather than sceptical indeed!

OP posts:
BandofMuggles · 13/07/2007 10:36

I am curious as to how Harry will beat V in the end. Will it be with something so simple, or something really complicated??

How is he going to find the horcruxes, I hope she doesn't make it too easy IYSWIM.

rosmerta · 13/07/2007 10:45

I think the main horcrux going to be centred around the locket isn't it? That's on the front of the adult cover & sounds like its going to be the hardest one to track down.

Maybe Harry tells V that he loves him & forgives him, V yells 'Noooooooooo, anything but love' and disappears in a flash of smoke?

I guess you can see why JK makes the millions & not me, eh!

crookshanks · 13/07/2007 11:05

I'm really curious to find out about RAB and Lily Potters secret. I think it will have a lot to do with Snape and hopefully explain his hidden goodness

And Phoenixsongbird, no my dh doesn't go out on his own. We are complete homebirds and haven't been out on our own since our ds was born.....he is 4

MrsWeasley · 13/07/2007 11:37

Rosmerta I too have thought that Harry will use love to kill V. But he cant forgive him he's too angry for that but then again he has seen Draco in a new light now so maybe he will understand V more and lead to a kind of sympathetic understanding! Oh who knows??? Exciting isnt it?

I cant wait
