It doesn’t have to be the most notable or worthy, I’m just interested in which one you actually enjoyed the most so far. I think mine is To the Bright Edge of the World by Ivey Eowyn.

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine.

Sallystyle · 07/04/2018 23:14

The Heart's Invisible Furies, by far!

It has certainly made my top 10 best books ever list, maybe even top 5.

Ikeameatballs · 07/04/2018 23:20

In the past month I've read Eleanor Oliphant, TIn Man and Resvoir 13. I've enjoyed them all very much though they are different types of books.

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
The Shadow Doctor by Adrian Plass
Little Women (I reread it after more than 25 years)
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
Anna by Amanda Prowse
This Love by Dani Atkins
A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers (reread it for 3rd time)
The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

Currently reading This Thing of Darkness and loving it, book number 11 of the year and best so far.

My Name is Leon, by Kit de Waal.

I thought it might be misery-porn esque or else just too emotionally draining, but it was so full of humanity.

cowgirlblues · 09/04/2018 13:08

Another vote for the rules of civility and gentleman in Moscow. Last year it was life after life. Had me sobbing at the hairdressers reading it!

fishonabicycle · 09/04/2018 16:24

Either hagseed or The hearts Invisible Furies or all the light we cannot see. Hard to.choose. I'm on book 29 of the year (The outrun, Amy Liptrot - pretty good too).

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/04/2018 22:32

Sorry fish you need to choose. You’re only allowed one! Grin

The girlfriend - nice thriller

PrincessoftheSea · 13/04/2018 08:20

Need to know is a really good spy/thriller/domestic drama by Karen Cleveland. Short and a real page turner. I read it in one sitting and really recommend.

PumpkinPie2016 · 14/04/2018 22:05

I have just read two of Lynda La Plante's Tennison series - Hidden Killers and Good Friday. Absolutely loved them both - couldn't put them down. I want to read the three prime suspect ones (also part of the Tennison series) but there is another coming out in August which fits between the two I have read and prime suspect so I am trying to wait.

I have just ordered another of hers though - Above Suspicion which is the first in the Anna Travis series and similar to the Tennison series so I am hoping that will be just as good!

QuantumPixies · 14/04/2018 22:08

I read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane for school (it’s a children’s book) and was sobbing at the end.

BestIsWest · 14/04/2018 22:16

Another vote for My Cousin Rachel. Outstanding. A real page turner.

Kinraddie · 14/04/2018 22:45

It's either Olive Kitteridge or Eleanor Oliphant! Two very different women, with different lives, but both amazing unforgettable books.

FinnegansCake · 15/04/2018 14:06

Living in Perhaps by Julia Widdows. I thoroughly enjoyed it, until the last couple of pages. The end wasn’t what I had expected, but nevertheless I thought it was an excellent book.

MinaPaws · 15/04/2018 14:09

Reservoir 13 by Jon McGregor. I tried one of his others a while ago and didn't get into it but am going to have another go and read everything else he's ever written too.

pepperminttaste · 15/04/2018 14:15

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.

I can't recommend it enough!

FinnegansCake · 15/04/2018 14:32

peppermint I enjoyed Persepolis too, I read it a few years ago and also enjoyed the film version - have you seen that? It’s a cartoon animation, very well done.

pepperminttaste · 15/04/2018 14:34

Ooh I must look that out. Didn't realise there was an animation. Thanks!

Halifax1 · 15/04/2018 14:52

mamapants · 16/04/2018 08:54

They are The Goldfinch -beautiful
Ubik by Phillip K Dick, fantastic sci fi.
And Push by Tommy Caldwell- autobiography of a big wall climber/ mountaineer.

SyrilSneer · 23/04/2018 00:53

The House of Impossible Beauties

chaosisaladder · 23/04/2018 01:00

Hold Back The Stars - I'm not usually into romance but my god it was good. The ending was beautiful and unlike anything I've read before.
