Which book have you enjoyed most so far this year?

It doesn’t have to be the most notable or worthy, I’m just interested in which one you actually enjoyed the most so far. I think mine is To the Bright Edge of the World by Ivey Eowyn.

Mine is Miss You by Kate Eberlen. I thought I'd found myself a new author and was gutted when I realised Miss You is her first book!

This Thing of Darkness by Harry Thompson

The boy with the top knot by Sathnam Sanghera. Saw it advertised on TV and was intrigued.

Reservoir 13 by Jon McGregor.

Difficult choice - I can't decide between Reservoir 13 by Jon McGregor and The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris. Both were outstanding. Jackie Morris's illustrations in The Lost Words are wonderful, so beautiful.

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Thought it was charming and not at all what I was expecting. I only read it because it was a reading group choice but very glad I did.

Just read One Day which I really enjoyed. Well written and good story.

The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro.

I’ve not read all of those, but have read A Gentleman in Moscow and loved it too. Read it last year, that’s why it didn’t make this list. Have you read Rules of Civility by the same author Mealy?

I enjoyed One Day too Petal although it’s a long while since I’ve read it. I might, just might, have cried but don’t tell anyone

Think I will need to add some of the others onto my rather large “to read” list.

Not at all worthy but Disenchanted by Heide Goody and Iain Grant.

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine. Really enjoyed that one.

Enjoyed is probably the wrong wrong but I was utterly captivated by A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara.

Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe. Different from the film in chunks but I really enjoyed it.

I loved A gentleman in Moscow too. I've just started Seven deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and am really enjoying it so far (40% in!). It's very original and I really hope it keeps the intrigue all the way through.....

The Wind Through The Keyhole by Stephen King. I read the whole Dark Tower series a couple of years ago and loved it so, so much and missed it after I was done. Imagine my delight, then, to discover this year TWTTK on my Kindle - I had bought it midway through the series but never got round to reading it (if that makes sense).

It was absolutely blissful being back in that world with those characters.

The Heart's Invisible Furies John Boyne, loved it, loved it, loved it. Posted a review on 50 book challenge.

Hagseed by Margaret Atwood. (Read the synopsis of The Tempest first which is at the end of the book if you are not familiar with the play).

I'm reading The Heart's Invisible Furies at the moment and it's fantastic. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng was also very enjoyable.

Eleanor Oliphant is absolutely fine.
I absolutely loved it and didn't want it to finish.
