Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

Worst thing about films is that they cut out most of the humor that makes HP suitable for slightly younger readers. My ds was about 6/7 when he first had HP but my dd has seen the films and she's 7.I would have worried about the scare factor of the films if wasn't convinced that my dd will be into all kinds of scary stuff when older.
The books however have an excellent balance of humor and scary stuff which makes them appealing for younger readers even though meant for older ones.

I have always thought that the repeated mentioning of "you have your mothers eyes" was purely to suck us all in to thinking that his parents were so wondeful and how much everyone loved lily.

but not its got me thinking! (but I dont like the thought that its anything other than a coincidence.) Losing eyes

singingmum · 16/05/2007 10:58

I think we are supposed to think his parents wonderful as then it's even more of a tradegy that they die young leaving harry to be dragged up by rels.
As for losing eyes YUCK!!! Where do people get these ideas.
JK Rowling has apparently said not to listen to rumors about new book as they are not true as she hasn't told people about the new storylines.
Hate when press try to get hold of the story and then spoil bits GRRRR! they make me

MrsWeasley · 16/05/2007 11:01

I ignore the press (too busy reading the books) my downfall is I dont like to rush reading the new ones. I like to take my time a read them over a few days to let my mind dwell on things etc. (complete news black out required)

Am opposite for first reading I devour the text then I and mydp re-read it to our dc's and then I spend time re-reading it myself.
Does anyone else find that even when you've re-read the other books ready for the new one that you have to read from the first book onwards as some things that seemed like odd or unneccesary info now makes sense,or am I completely obsessed????

MrsWeasley · 16/05/2007 11:34

I re-read just number 6 to begin with then your sucked in and am now re-reading them all again.

OP posts:
singingmum · 16/05/2007 11:57

so glad I'm not alone

BandofMothers · 16/05/2007 19:42

Heheeeee, I am re reading 6 now. I just love the way she writes. So succinct, yet descriptive and it just flows and before you know it you've read a hundred pages

I have to make myself read slower or I miss stuff in my eagerness to get to the next bit.

Would love a whole day free to dig in to it, but fear it wont happen and will have to agonise all day and wait til the girls are in bed.

Blandmum · 16/05/2007 19:46

I am coming to the end of Book 4 (my personal fave) read by Stephen Fry. I listen in the car taking the kids to and from school. I'm planning on working through them all before 'the day'

The sliver locket is deffo in Grimauld place. They talk about it in book 5, and Mundungus was selling off the Black family silver, so who knows where it as ended up?

MrsWho · 16/05/2007 22:46

Book 5 is my favourite

MrsWeasley · 16/05/2007 23:32

I dont have a set favourite, it changes depending on my mood

OP posts:
singingmum · 17/05/2007 11:28

I love all the HP books but especially love when Harry has tantrums as he is like a normal kid then.Hate the fact that some people didn't like him being a kid.

pudding77 · 17/05/2007 11:42

I loved the whole relationship with Cho and Harry's trying to figure out girls!

MrsWeasley · 17/05/2007 13:00

Oh yes I love the whole "how do you figure girls out" business. Ron is so funny !

OP posts:
pudding77 · 17/05/2007 13:10

MrsW you really should have a word with your Ron, you know!!

MrsWeasley · 17/05/2007 13:57

LOL yes I wonder if I could magically bang his and Harry's heads together!

I have a "feeling" that Ron will no longer have to worry about finding a girl anymore! LOL

OP posts:
DrDaddy · 17/05/2007 19:29

I haven't got anything new to add, but realised I hadn't contributed for more than 3 days and this thread had dropped of my "threads you're on"...

Blandmum · 17/05/2007 19:38

Mrs W , you son is, I fear, toast.

MrsWho · 17/05/2007 19:44

LOL at the girl stuff

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 17/05/2007 23:09

Ron. toast. Nooooo!

Harry can't keep losing his nearest & dearest. I'd be gutted for him if Hagrid gets killed too.

She can't kill Fred & George either. They're too cute er, I meant funny...

MrsWeasley · 17/05/2007 23:19

no no no

Thinks of that bloody boggart!

Please just left snape and Voldermort die and Harry and his pals can live a happy jolly life.

OP posts:
RosaLuxembourg · 17/05/2007 23:25

I feel like that about Mrs W's twins too, Duchess. Is a bit wrong of us, no?

I don't want her to kill Snape. I want him to be redeemed.

Goodasgold · 17/05/2007 23:29

I know Harry's eyes as a horcrux is a horrid idea, but it is mentioned in every book that you look just like your father...apart from your eyes, you have your mother's eyes. I can't help feeling that this must be significent.

Maybe we should all watch out...this thread may be the last horcrux. Gulp. I'm a bit scared of Vol...

Goodasgold · 17/05/2007 23:46

Augusta Longbottom just brought me some chocolate frogs. Yummy.

Perhaps Voldemort wanted Lily's eyes to replace his horrid red slitty ones.

BandofMothers · 18/05/2007 10:48

Mrs W, are you still carrying that clock around??

DrDaddy, put a watch on it then it wont disappear.
As I'm reading the 6th one again, I am so sad she got rid of DD.
He's so lovely, and yet so fierce, and just well, cool.
