Ok I have the Amsterdam one. Please can someone put me out of my misery with the computer/surfer girl one with a cheeky PM?

susurration · 09/11/2017 15:25

Cacofonix will PM

susurration · 09/11/2017 15:26

Ok I'm down to the lifebuoy one!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 09/11/2017 15:37

susurration - synonym of the word written on the lifebuoy followed by 'its' abbreviation (ie abbreviation of the lifebuoy).

soupforbrains I've gone for it. I don't think the information on the signs is important per se, they're just showing "...".

Slightly thrown by the fact you have to input the title EXACTLY how it is, but I checked the cover and went for how it's printed.

Finally, finally bloody got it! thank you for all your help everyone, for the first time ever I have finished one of these quizzes!

soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 16:00

Mmmm I'm not sure about it. I've got a couple of possibles but I don't think I match you.

TinyTear · 09/11/2017 16:01

susurration i love these annual threads as people are really helpful without telling the answers directly!

soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 16:03

Actually I think I've got it! it's sort of a spin off? done.

Kveta · 09/11/2017 17:14

I am SO STUCK on the life belt one! Can anyone give me some clues which even someone who is very hard of thinking can get?!

Aimtomisbehave · 09/11/2017 17:29

Kveta it really is a stretch to be fair. you need another word for appropriate (use the thesaurus in word) and an abbreviated and slighted different spelling of lifebouy. Put them together (and google)

Kveta · 09/11/2017 17:54

oh FFS! That one is just cruel! :D

susurration · 09/11/2017 18:20

Kveta It's a real stretch that one isn't it?!

TinyTear yes, I've not seen the MN threads about this before and it also never occurred to me to look at bestseller or award shortlists before either.

Feeling a bit pleased with myself today Husband will be thrilled when he finds out what I spent all afternoon doing...

susurration · 09/11/2017 18:57

Has anyone else figured out the email question?

I think it's a spin off from my favourite children's novels.

soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 19:03

D’usurpation i think you’ve come to the same answer as I did.

soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 19:04

Oh wowzers what an autocorrect. That was meant for you susurration!!

susurration · 09/11/2017 19:10

Oooh, that's definitely going to be my next username!

Yes, recently made into a film, spin off from seven books?

Kveta · 09/11/2017 19:27

so I STILL can't get these 4:
the power sign
the road north sign
the bones
the kings/queens of essex sign

any good clues (not already on this thread, as I've tried those?!!) people can add? Thanks!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 09/11/2017 19:36

Oooh, thank you for that last hint! Doh!

soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 20:13

kveta

A) you have literally said it
B) think of the road formation as a compass, one way is ‘no exit’ so the other is?
C) bones is correct.** But it’s music notes right? Think sound of music and take a look at the Booker long list
D) it is NOT Essex.** Essex only has the swords. The crown Makes it another county.

soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 20:15

And susurration yes we are in agreement. But Time came up with another answer which could also be right I think so we’ll just have to wait and see.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/11/2017 20:30

Thank you for the help with the music one. I've just finished and am trying to guess the email one. Not having any luck so far.

Kveta · 09/11/2017 20:33

thank you so much! Still not a scooby on the north one, but 19 out of 20 isn't bad!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 09/11/2017 20:45

I'm convinced you guys are right on the email qu. If it had been lion, tiger and croc I think I'd have it, but with Nessie and co you have to be correct.

BlueEyeshadow · 09/11/2017 20:56

Kveta, the north one is on the Booker shortlist...
