I really fucking love books

I do. They are the one constant in my life, they've never let me down. It doesn't matter what happens during the day, 7.30pm, DC in bed,out comes the pile (or the Kindle).

I don't have money for holidays - doesn't matter because after 7.30 I can travel to any country I like, and some that don't even exist. When there's no happy endings in real life, open a book and you're swimming in them.

I love them. They're the best things ever. My life would be a barren, lonely wasteland without them. Books have given me so much. Wonderful, clever people out there have written them just to enrich my life, to give me pleasure, or knowledge, to help me relax, mostly for free as their book costs me nothing from the library (or £2.81 from Amazon at the most)

Fabulous bloody things.

FrenchLavender · 29/04/2017 19:33

YANBU.

This isn't AIBU but even so, YANBU. I love them too.

Friendlylightupbear · 29/04/2017 19:34

I agree op, i love books!

ShyGirlie · 29/04/2017 19:36

I totally agree! Oh the places i've been...

BuzzKillington · 29/04/2017 19:37

Me too!

I was just telling dh how much I bloody love my Kindle. I will be browsing the internet and see a book review that I like, I buy the book and when I go the bed, it's there ready for me Smile

In the evenings, I am always thinking, 'when can I get away with going upstairs to read?'.

lemonpoppyseed · 29/04/2017 19:37

Me too. I can't even begin to imagine a world without books.

AWhistlingWoman · 29/04/2017 19:38

I love them too! So much.

SabineUndine · 29/04/2017 19:39

Me too. I asked for Janet and John book 1 when I was 5 (cos everyone else had one) and have not looked back since. Always have a couple of books on the go, always have a pile waiting to be read.

And Smokecloak, if you can't say anything nice, just read what other people say, eh?

SadlyNotNormal · 29/04/2017 19:39

As someone who is struggling to finish a novel at the moment (and by that I mean, I'm a writer), it's a comfort to know that they are such a balm. I, too, adore books. When I'm in the middle of a good book, I don't want to leave the house and have to resist the temptation to cancel plans with people!

krustykittens · 29/04/2017 19:40

Me too! There are books in every room of our house and I always think of the library in the Unseen University in Discworld, where the books talk to each other on the shelves. Every time I look at my books, phrases and passages flash up in my mind and it does feel like they are all whispering. I love being able to step inside someone else's skin.

Xmasbaby11 · 29/04/2017 19:41

I love them too! Though I don't always find what I want for such low prices and probably spend at least a tenner a month on books. However I also use the library. Books are amazing!

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 29/04/2017 19:43

Me too! I always read a few pages of a novel at bed time and I love it. And I've got shelves of books on all the hobbies and studies I've done. Ahh, just lovely Smile

ScarlettDarling · 29/04/2017 19:44

I love books! Real books, e books, I don't care, I just love them.

I live buying my dc books too. I love children's books and teen books. Loooooove them!

squirrelonapetridish · 29/04/2017 19:44

God yes, love them. Getting lost in a really gripping novel is the best thing ever, so much better than a film. You're with the characters for so much longer so you feel you're part of that world. Have to say I don't think I can bring myself to swop a book for a kindle though. Would just feel like another screen to look at. Why is it a very Mumsnet thing to say you love reading BTW?

RightOnTheEdge · 29/04/2017 19:45

Great post! I feel exactly the same.

I love to snuggle up with a good story and escape from everything. Smile

RightOnTheEdge · 29/04/2017 19:46

Oh yes, I didn't understand the first reply either Confused

Hogterm · 29/04/2017 19:47

Me too! I read every night without fail. It calms me down after busy days and makes me feel I am learning and experiencing new things when life gets a bit mundane. One of my greatest parenting joys is reading with my kids.

massistar · 29/04/2017 19:48

Me too. Can't imagine a life without books!

Mrskeats · 29/04/2017 19:51

Me too
Mean first reply
I'm an English teacher so always surrounded by them
Bloody love them

MrsMakka · 29/04/2017 19:52

It's when you get a pile of them. My reading twin lives in an area where my aunt lives, about ten miles from my work - I know this because there is a charity shop there and S/he is always donating books I have, books I want, and books I've never heard of but that I end up loving (I know it's the same person because some of them involve a very specific interest). So I detour there all the time, and honestly coming out with a pile of books, and time ahead to read them, is my favourite thing.

Reading a good book is like sinking into a warm bath. My life has been really shit in the past, and I don't know how I would have got through it if I hadn't been allowed to have a break from reality via reading.

Yep 👍

I really fucking love books
girlandboy · 29/04/2017 19:53

Me too! Paper books, ebooks, fiction, non-fiction, new, old. Love 'em! In fact I love them so much I became a library assistant until the local council replaced us with volunteers I too long for bedtime so I can snuggle down and lose myself in the pages. Bliss Smile

KindergartenKop · 29/04/2017 19:55

Time travel books are the best.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 29/04/2017 19:55

MrsMakka · 29/04/2017 19:56

I'm going to sound like a huge wanker, apologies in advance - but the DC are readers, and sometimes I feel that my job is done because honestly apart from food and shelter, what else do they need? They are sorted now. Grin
