To celebrate the publication of bestselling author Lucy Diamond's latest novel The House of New Beginnings, we're asking you to share your big plans for this coming year.

Number 11, Dukes Square looks just like the other houses on the Brighton seafront: a Regency terrace, a winding staircase, and post piling up in the hall for its three new tenants. It might be part of the city's history, but it's also a place for fresh starts.

Georgie has followed her childhood sweetheart to Brighton but is determined to carve out a career for herself in journalism. Charlotte's in the city for a new start, hoping to keep her head down and somehow get over the heartbreaking loss she's suffered in the past. A terrible revelation sent Rosa running from London to start again as a sous chef. As the three women find each other, it's as if a whole new chapter of their lives has begun.

From the bestselling author of The Secrets of Happiness and Summer at Shell Cottage, this is an uplifting story about love, loss and starting over.

To be in with a chance of winning a hardback edition of The House of New Beginnings, a bottle of champagne PLUS a luxury box of macarons from Brighton's famous Julien Plumart Patisserie (featured in the book), just tell us - what are your resolutions and ambitions for 2017? Three runners-up will also receive copies of the book.

This discussion is sponsored by Macmillan and will close at midday on Thursday 23 February

To eat more healthy as a family and become more fit

Hopezibah · 30/01/2017 21:31

Love the sound of this being set in Brighton - my original hometown that I miss so much!

2017 is going to be a massive year for me - I have had to dig deep and push out all fear and taken the massive decision just a couple of days ago to start my own business following my passions and dreams.

I've spent the last few years putting if off thinking 'what if it doesn't work out' 'what if i fail' and instead I've manged to get out of my comfort zone, feel the fear and do it anyway and everytime those 'what if's sneak into my mind, i turn them into 'what if this is the best decision I ever made', 'what if this is the most succesful thing i've ever done' 'what if i end up happier than I've ever been before' - I battle every day between fear and positivity and I feel this will be an ongoing battle but one that I am drawing on all my inner reserves to win!

So far it's working. I've also started to write the book I planned to write last year and have started to tell people about it. My making it a 'public' plan and letting others know i am actually making myself accountable to make sure it absolutely gets done.

I turn 40 this year and I'm going to really make that saying true about life beginning at 40 because this year I'm finally following those passions and dreams that I've had for so long.

RunningKatie · 30/01/2017 21:34

I am determined to get the last bit of weight off.
I want to run a 10k, I've missed running since we moved house away from my running group. I've now found a lovely new group and am getting my confidence back.
I want to learn to crochet without looking like I am trying to kill a ball of wool.
Finally (!) I want to find a job that makes me feel happy and like i'm doing something worthwhile.

CheeseEMouse · 30/01/2017 21:40

I have a new job, so to make the most of that opportunity. Also to live more in the present as time is flying so fast - making more time to enjoy the time with the children

elizaco · 30/01/2017 21:42

To try out a new recipe at least once a week, and to wear skirts and dresses more often (at 43 I think it's time I wore something other than jeans!!)

busterj · 30/01/2017 21:46

After having an accident at work and taking early retirement 3 years ago ,i am about to hit 65 in July and will then be officially retired ! OAP here i come !

Trinidading3 · 30/01/2017 23:21

My ambition this year is to sell my tiny council flat that is too small for us and buy a house with a garden so my boy's can thrive much more than at present. I am determined to do this by the end of 2017, they deserve itStar

lalamcbride · 31/01/2017 07:30

Well I have just brought an embroidery machine. So hopefully in 2017 I will finally take the time for myself to do something I always wanted to try. Perhaps I might even be able to do some stuff to sell on etsy. Fingers crossed

wallers5 · 31/01/2017 08:14

To think of 5 lovely things that have happened or I have seen each day & keep them in my positive memory.

pizzapops · 31/01/2017 09:56

My resolution is to be more orderly and tidy around the house and declutter a lot more! Things that haven't been worn for a year I am planning to chuck or give to charity. I have also starting 'Kondo-ing' and it has changed my life.

Personally I need to go to the gym more, eat less carbs and do two spin classes a week. It's a fantastic way to burn fat and it is a really social and fun way of exercising.

CREATIVZ · 31/01/2017 10:09

I'm just trying to keep on track and improve my healthier lifestyle which I started 2yrs ago, also to complete the unfinished house clutter clearance from last year, a motivational kickstart and fewer distractions would do nicely ! Hmm OOH a bear... Bear

finova · 31/01/2017 10:16

To stay calm and positive. New baby arriving shortly.
To try and make moments for DH and I as we both put the DC 1st.
To buy less and get rid of more!

Lucretia12 · 31/01/2017 13:45

I intend to take up painting again, something I haven't had the time or energy for since I retired as I have a long term medical condition which I struggle with. Used to enjoy it before and found it helps to relieve stress.

henbane · 31/01/2017 20:18

I will stop eating doughnuts.
I will stop eating doughnuts.
I will stop... well, let's be realistic...
I will eat fewer doughnuts, less often!

dstill1964 · 31/01/2017 20:20

Just want everything in my life to be a bit more organised and relaxed tbh. Need to concentrate on my health as I'm no good to anyone if I'm unwell 24/7 and also need to Budget better. The prize for this is fabulous and would certainly help spur me on

angelnandy28 · 31/01/2017 20:22

Mainly to get on top of health problems as they are holding me back in so many ways.
To slowly work on my agoraphobic tendencies, start going out even just a little and try to enjoy life. Work on my self cbt which I used to use with great results but have let go and am struggling to get back to making it work for me again.
Oh, and get my house in order BUT that could be an impossible task!

Loreleigh · 31/01/2017 21:40

I plan to keep a photo-journal of our garden wildlife as I am very interested in the lives of 'our' birds, squirrels, foxes etc. I also have plans to list a load of books and other items for sale on ebay to declutter and stop my better half moaning at me, and to raise some cash for myself - I always donate a percentage of the final sale values to Second Chance Animal Rescue Crockenhill so plan to help them as much as I can this year, and every year.

larkin29 · 31/01/2017 22:15

This year I want to spend as much quality time with my daughter as possible, she many only be 18 months but I'm thinking of another baby in the near future and want to make the most of our time together

MindWhirl · 01/02/2017 09:09

This year I'm going to lose weight and get back to my previous healthy weight and pass my driving test.

SuzCG · 01/02/2017 09:48

I don't make resolutions but I have signed up to do The Moonwalk Half Marathon so I'm currently focusing on getting myself out walking, getting fitter in general and watching what I eat. I've lost 3lbs already in the last 2 weeks - so this has got to be a good thing, yeah?
I'd also like to get my ironing basket under control and de-clutter the house...

1033MICHELLE · 01/02/2017 10:45

I am getting married in September after 10 years together so my goals are saving money and trying to lose weight so I feel fabulous on my big day!

SallySwann · 01/02/2017 12:30

We had a big fall out in our family over Christmas so my massive resolution is to bring everyone back together again, something I really hope that I can achieve.

Fiendarina · 01/02/2017 14:04

My resolutions (as ever) are to get fitter not fatter, and have a money-saving year. Not doing too bady so far!

Louffisher · 01/02/2017 14:14

Due in June so making room at home - use it or lose it! For that exact reason I've started a sewing course to make use of the sewing machine I inherited from my nan over 10 years ago!

I have a history of depression and anxiety and since finding out about our bundle of joy I have really changed my approach to life and I have never been so mentally well and hoping to continue this once the baby is here

Susangilley7 · 01/02/2017 17:21

2017 has to be the year that I lose weight and declutter the house. I just need less junk!
