Eva and Gideon’s journey is not easy. There are times when it seems love can’t conquer all. But these two understand each other on the most primal level. It’s Eva and Gideon’s fierce struggle to love one another – in spite of their demons – that has captivated readers worldwide.

The five-book Crossfire series deeply explores questions of love, life and self-acceptance. Bared to You and Reflected in You follow Eva and her journey to recovery, but through Entwined with You and Captivated by You the focus shifts to Gideon as he takes the steps toward healing that’s a driving force for Crossfire. The anxiously awaited One with You is the heart-breaking and poignant finale to this searingly successful series.

We've got 150 books from the Crossfire series, including One with You, to give away to lucky Mumsnetters to read and share their thoughts about it on this discussion thread. Go to the giveaway page to find out more about the books in the series and pick which one you'd like a free copy of.

I received a copy of Bared To You.

Of its genre, it's quite well-written, but to be honest it is a bit 'same-old, same-old' in terms of its theme with lots (perhaps too much) of rumpy-pumpy and not enough in terms of meaty storyline. I'm interested in what motivates the author and what element of her work gives her the greatest level of satisfaction.

shelaghh · 26/07/2016 10:34

Not my taste in books. Sent straight to Charity shop.

vixxx666 · 26/07/2016 12:47

I won the book and chose Bared To You.
I felt the book was ok, better written than 50 Shades, however I felt the plot lines lacked depth.
I finished the book in a few hours and felt it came to an abrupt end.
That said I would like to read the next book in the series.."Reflected In You"

Anj123 · 26/07/2016 16:54

I received "Bared to You" and hadn't realised beforehand it was going to be like Fifty Shades! It's not really my kind of book as I prefer more of a storyline. However, I have read the first few chapters and intend to finish it anyway in case something exciting happens at the end. Thanks for sending me this book as it's good to read stuff you wouldn't normally choose!

pottymummy · 26/07/2016 17:01

I received 'Bared to you'. Like others, I didn't realise that this would be erotica. I wasn't interested in 50 shades (never read) and I'm really not interested in this. I gave it a shot, but I just found it, boring frankly. I didn't think it terrible, but once I put it down - well I forgot to pick it up again.
I'm not a big reader (hardly ever) but in comparison - DH had a copy of 'the girl on the train' lying around which I picked up recently - and read every available second. I'd rather plot driven than hanky panky driven.

clairet144 · 26/07/2016 17:40

Have just received my book, I also didn't realise it was an erotic read. Looking forward to reading it! My mum said she's read them all!! Little minx!

Yasmin1 · 26/07/2016 18:27

Recently received Captivated by you, I've read the other 3 a while ago & it was easy to kind of remember the story & characters. I've managed to read the first 100 pgs & if you don't take the book 'seriously' & enjoy this type/style of book; then you'll enjoy this series. Not sure if there are people out there like Gideon & Eva, if so then they must be either walking like John Wayne with sore knees! Thanks for the book.

Beautymama · 27/07/2016 00:09

Thank you for the book 😆 Never read any of these book, can't wait to start reading it today! Totally excited! Will definitely be back with my reviews on it 😊

rhinosuze · 27/07/2016 20:16

I received captivated by you, sadly can't say I'm captivated by it! Can't see me persevering to be honest, will pass on to a friend

dalek · 27/07/2016 21:36

Thank you MN for the opportunity to read and review this book. Unfortunately I have really not enjoyed this book. I found it completely unoriginal and quite tiresome to be honest. Of it's type it may be ok but it would be good if there was a proper story in there - sorry.

herecometrouble · 27/07/2016 21:38

I have received my book and have read the first 100 or so pages. Although the 'steamy' scenes are a little more hot water than boiling kettle. I was surprised at the level of social and psychological history of each character that the author was conveying this level of depth of details she went to to make them deeper than a name on a page. Two met through counselling, one is focused on money, one like to have the control etc. She as also, as far as I have read, touched on topics which I have not normal read about such as self-harm, abuse etc.

So far - not an overly steamy read - but that might change later- but a good read if you like a little more depth to the characters.

remroux89 · 27/07/2016 23:23

One With You - Thanks MN for sending me the final book in the series. I've read the others so can't wait to read this one. About to start it now so will post again when finished!

lesley37 · 28/07/2016 12:10

Bared to you, I hadn't heared of these books so was interested to try one, not my usuall kind of reading but was surprised, the story line was well written with some good characters in the background.
Good holiday book.

remroux89 · 29/07/2016 01:29

One With You - just finished reading and really enjoyed it. A great summer read.

wallers5 · 29/07/2016 17:13

I received Captivated by You & didn't realize what I was letting myself in for, never having read a Sylvia Day book. It certainly kicks off with plenty of sex and that continues throughout. Not really quite my sort of book but fascinating to read a Sunday Times best selling author. I found it a bit dark & depressing & would not be in a hurry to read the other Crossfire novels, although I know a lot of people would. Thanks for the opportunity.

clairet144 · 30/07/2016 19:25

I have now read Bared to You. It was a bit like shades of grey - it was ok but I don't think I will be reading the rest of the series but pleased I had the opportunity to read this!

4isplenty · 31/07/2016 08:53

I havent finished reading this book yet but a quick comment. I received Bared to you, I had not heard of this series as I have read all the fifty shades books and found them tedious so when any similar book came about, I would (unfairly) dismiss it. I started reading yesterday and I am hooked, much better than Fifty shades and already halfway through. I leave you now to dive back into it!! :)

rachnicuk · 31/07/2016 20:16

Finished the book now, I enjoyed the storyline but for me there were too many sexual encouners. Less sex more storyline wouldve been perfect. Will read next book as i am intruiged about Gideons past.

Rose285 · 01/08/2016 15:22

Thank you for my copy of Bared to You.
My first impressions were really good but as the story went on I found it not very interesting at all.
This is an erotic novel, the main character opens up about her troubled past, you barely get a hint about her lovers past. Though the story is written through her eyes only and in reality men don't really open up. I felt like I was missing a piece of the puzzle.
The plot to the story starts of well but just continues with sexual themes and places throughout the rest.
I'd like to read the next book in the series to see if it gets any better as I personally feel the book stopped dead like watching a film halfway and switching it off

Alichelseagirl · 01/08/2016 16:35

I haven't had a chance to start reading it yet, I have read all of the others in the crossfire series and looking forward to reading this. They are very similar to Fifty Shades of Grey, maybe a bit too similar for my liking, much prefer FSOG but seeing as I have read all of these books the can't be too bad!

whatwoulddexterdo · 01/08/2016 18:08

Thank you for my copy of One With You. I have just finished reading this. I won't divulge the plot as I'm aware we are all reading different books in the series. This book is told in alternating chapters between Eva and Gideon and is the last book in the series although there are some unanswered questions so I wonder if there will be another book.
This book was great fun. A little erotic in places but is nowhere near as explicit as some.
If you are looking for a heartwarming, passionate, fun and steamy read this is the one for you. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks again

SHORTMAN · 02/08/2016 14:12

I was lucky enough to win the first book in the Crossfire series Bared to You in the Mumsnet giveaway. I had never heard of the books and it probably wouldn't have been something I would have bought. I am also in the category of never having read 50 shades of grey which I think this series probably resembles. Eva and Gideon are both very rich very beautiful people with troubled pasts - this book is clear about Eva's problems but only hints at Gideon's. From the moment they meet their sexual attraction is undeniable and there are very few pages of the book which do not describe their sexual activity in intimate detail and explicit language - if you find this offensive this is not the book for you! I found the characters rather cliched - Eva even has a drop dead gorgeous gay/bi flat mate and I also found it hard to sympathise with characters who despite having had problems lived in such gilded cages. This book is pure escapism - if I found the next in the series in a hotel room I might read it at the pool (all the while feeling inadequate about my appearance and my sex life) but buy it? probably not.

4isplenty · 03/08/2016 14:12

I have now finished the first book in the series. I really liked it. Yes, it was full of sex, but thats what the story was about, the powerful attraction of the characters, no use complaining about it :)
I will certainly be picking up the remaining books and devouring them as quickly as I can!! :)

annr · 05/08/2016 13:11

I received a copy of Bared to You. I didn't know anything about the series before this. It was strangely compulsive reading, peopled with impossibly beautiful characters and lots of sex, but not much of a story line. However, I don't think I'll be rushing out to get the rest of the series.

leosmummy2010 · 07/08/2016 15:12

I was lucky enough to receive the first in the series! If you love escapism-well you won't be dissappointed! I couldn't put this book down and am delighted that there are several more in the trilogy.
