Eva and Gideon’s journey is not easy. There are times when it seems love can’t conquer all. But these two understand each other on the most primal level. It’s Eva and Gideon’s fierce struggle to love one another – in spite of their demons – that has captivated readers worldwide.

The five-book Crossfire series deeply explores questions of love, life and self-acceptance. Bared to You and Reflected in You follow Eva and her journey to recovery, but through Entwined with You and Captivated by You the focus shifts to Gideon as he takes the steps toward healing that’s a driving force for Crossfire. The anxiously awaited One with You is the heart-breaking and poignant finale to this searingly successful series.

We've got 150 books from the Crossfire series, including One with You, to give away to lucky Mumsnetters to read and share their thoughts about it on this discussion thread. Go to the giveaway page to find out more about the books in the series and pick which one you'd like a free copy of.

I didn't get a free copy of the book but I borrowed it from the library. I was quite disappointed really, I found it a bit boring and just not really my sort of book

purplepandas · 22/08/2016 22:57

Not my particular type of book either personally. A bit of a hard read as felt the story and characters lacked a bit of depth. A marmite type of book?

babynugget · 22/08/2016 23:29

I have read all but the last in the series and I thought they were ok. I read them immediately after finishing the Fifty Shades series and there is no denying the similarities - in fact I often get the storylines muddled when I'm speaking to people. I did prefer these to Fifty Shades though. The characters are interesting, with interesting back stories which are revealed gradually. The storylines were engaging enough to keep me reading. I was disappointed with the ending of the fourth book, it was very abrupt and felt like the end of a chapter, I expected to turn the page to the next chapter, only to find that I had to wait for the next book to be released. It wasn't even a cliffhanger. I reckon they could probably have combined the last two books, although I haven't read the last one to find out how it all ends!

The cross fire series is based around to angst ridden 20 something hero/ine - Eva and Gideon. Lots of sex, angst and more sex. At 5 books it seems the storylines are drawn out, could easily be consensed. The final book focuses on marriage and it seems the slowest of them all. Same genre as 50 shades but better grammar.

I've read all 5 of the books and really enjoyed them, pure escapism, I thought the characters matured throughout and the last book was great at answering all the questions and I felt like it left Gideon & Eva in a really good place.

I read Captivated By You and have to say was rather disappointed with it. The story line, for what it was worth, was very weak and I felt that I should have read the previous books in the Crossfire series in order to fully make sense of what was going on. References were made to things or people from previous books without making the context apparent. I appreciate that this was the penultimate one of the series but even so... I also felt that if the sex scenes were excluded, 50 pages would have been sufficient to cover the plot. Escapist stuff in an unreal world but I won't be seeking any more of Sylvia Day's work.

Many thanks for Bared to You
I have never read this series before as I found 50 shades repetitive but pleasantly surprised much prefer the characters and even an actual story
It puts me in the mood for more.

scarrick87 · 24/08/2016 15:36

Wow Im sure I messaged earlier when I hadnt read much. I cant seem to put this down and defo gives 50 Shades a run for its money. I prefer it though and definately something I would buy from the series. Thanks again

Thanks very much for the book - I recieved 'Bared To You' - apologies I've been unable to post my review until now - the kids Summer Holidays have been hectic, as I'm sure they have been for all of you!
I've read about half of the book so far, and whilst I won't give up on it and will read to the end, the rest of the story will determine whether I go on to read the rest of the series or not. I had realised they would be a little similar to 'Fifty Shades' but not quite so much. The story so far has been quite insubstantial and I am struggling to hold my interest, there doesn't seem to be much background or intrigue of which I like both in books. So far this just feels a bit like a money making spin off from Fifty Shades, which again I liked but even those story lines weren't wonderful. However it is easy reading and if you like a saucy book (which I do occasionally) then it's worth a go. I hope it picks up a bit and manages to convince me to go out and buy the rest of the series to read. I had been really excited to recieve it and have admittedly been a little disappointed so far. So I have my fingers crossed and I'll keep reading - I'll try and remember to post here again once I'm done and leave a final verdict! Thanks again for the opportunity Mumsnet.

I hadn't heard of this series before. I received bared to you and found it very similar to 50 Shades. The plot is exactly the same and the characters could almost be identical. It took me a while to get into this book, eventually I started to warm to it and found it an easy enjoyable read. I wouldn't tell anyone to rush out and buy this but if you wanted a quick simple holiday read then grab a copy and take a seat.

cheryl59 · 11/09/2016 21:15

Oops read this on holiday and forgot to come and leave my feedback - I got book 1 and I loved it, not so much in terms in plot but in terms of the characters, who seem to have a lot more mileage left in them (and not just in the bedroom, limo, library and office !) so I've bought the rest of the series (in the 3 books for £10 offer on amazon which is a decent price). I want to see how the overprotective mum and digging up their pasts works out, both in therapy and with the arrival of the ex - should be explosive !
