Book swap

I am thinking that we should do a book swap. You send a book to someone who sends a book to someone and so on. It doesn't matter if you didn't like the book, the next one might please you.

Any takers???????????????????????

I am a fan of Harlan Coben, Denise Ryan and Marian Keyes, Stuart Macbride.

kka - thanks m'dear, got your book today and am very :) as haven't read anything by the author but always meant to.

FeckingFulfordmoonfiend · 30/05/2006 17:38

PS. will attempt not to outrage anyone by reading in bath/turning pages over/writing etc but personally, I have no objections. For me, 'tis all about the enjoyment of the book.

kipper22 · 30/05/2006 17:50

Blush Blush does you saying that mean the book you have has creased pages bumbleweed? It's not me - it's dh!

bumbleweed · 30/05/2006 18:04

dont think so kipper - dunno havent got to the book quite yet! comment not aimed at you at all - just adding my bit to the outrageous treatment of books theme Smile

I'm not a corner-turner myself but I do read in the bath and do bend the spines slightly so I can read the words in the middle

kipper22 · 30/05/2006 20:06

sorry boris, which book do you mean? The one I've written in is a Mike Gayle one, the one with loose pages is by Sheila Quigly. I do read in the bath too but I'm also very careful & put it on the floor with a towel over it so that I don't splash it while washing my hair! I think I prefer the idea of a thread for each book as I also like to read in the car, on the train, etc and would likely lose bits of paper - either by taking them out to keep them safe or by dropping them.

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 20:29

I was just wondering who has the book I sent

Ill email them later

kipper22 · 30/05/2006 20:42

it should be nikkie judging by the email if that helps?

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 20:43

Thanks kipper

PanicPants · 30/05/2006 20:51

Right ok, I've been away for a few days so lets see if I've got this right:

  1. We're going to send the books on in 3 weeks.
  2. We're NOT making notes in the books but on bits of paper if we want to.
  3. We're all going to start a thread about the book we have now, and then add to the appropriate thread when we've finished each book.
  4. We aren't going to bend corners of pages, bend spines, read in the bath, write in margins or on covers.

Well I've aleady written in the cover of my book Blush

PanicPants · 30/05/2006 20:52

My own book that is, not the one I've got now!

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 21:11

I think writing in the cover of your own book is just about excusable :)

But if anyone writes in the one I have sent I will hunt them down

katyrocks · 30/05/2006 23:18

wouldn't write in a cover, i thought it meant notes put inside on a bit of paper. quite like the ides of signing the front cover tho!

sorry but i'm a spine bender Blush! i'll try really hard not to Smile

marslady, i'll add you on to the list and forward it back to you and UCM, along with any other additions.

dewmeadow · 30/05/2006 23:23

you are a SERIOUS booklover Franny!

katyrocks · 30/05/2006 23:44

marslady, it is done. let me know if you receive the email. ive just finished a report for work adn my typing is slightly less than perfect tonight Grin

MarsLady · 31/05/2006 15:46

Email received. Looking forward to the next cycle so that I can start to swap. Must look out a book to send and be ready. Smile

peachyClair · 31/05/2006 15:49

I started a thread \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=77534&topicid=1377&threadid=178522&redir=77534\here} for the reviews of the book I received. As I have finished it now, all ready to go and post on in a week and a half or so. Grin

kickassangel · 31/05/2006 23:14

Finally, broadband back up & able to say HURRAH! Book arrived today. Not something i would have chosen from the cover, which is good, going away this weekend so should have time to lie around in bed reading it.

bumbleweed · 01/06/2006 19:09

Finished "Dinner for Two" by Mike Gayle. Thanks, kipper, for sending it.

Have started a review-thread \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=4303&topicid=1377&threadid=178905&redir=4303\here}

nikkie · 01/06/2006 19:48

Hi received my book today, will start a thread later.
Think I may be responsible for sending one of the battered books Blush In my defence I did get it from the charity shop!

FrannyandZooey · 01/06/2006 20:06

I think I have already read 2 of the books being swapped!

UCM · 02/06/2006 15:04

Girls, am so sorry I left you all in the lurch like that.

Katyrocks thank you for sorting out the swap. I am happy to go along with what you all want but am particularly impressed with the idea of a thread for each book, then I can add to it as I ream them....

Once again, I am sorry and it really really couldn't be helped.

As long as you're OK UCM Smile

PanicPants · 02/06/2006 18:50

UCM glad to see you back again.
I've finished my book and will do a review on it now and try a link - fingers crossed!

Are we going to agree a date to send on the books? And with the changes, are we still sending the book to the original person you sent your book to? Iuswim

PanicPants · 02/06/2006 19:05

Right here's the link for 'The Portable Door' by Tom Holt.
