Book swap

I am thinking that we should do a book swap. You send a book to someone who sends a book to someone and so on. It doesn't matter if you didn't like the book, the next one might please you.

Any takers???????????????????????

I am a fan of Harlan Coben, Denise Ryan and Marian Keyes, Stuart Macbride.

Seriously if anyone sends me a book they have written in I will be p*ssed off and I may have to come round and scribble on your furniture oe something

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 08:59

I agree with franny

the only person who writes on my books are that dastardly daughter of mine!!

She knows the repurcissions if she does it again though (youd be amazed how holding her tubbies dvds to ransom works)

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 09:06

Princess Boris has spoken :o

dewmeadow · 30/05/2006 09:32

Are we not doing the thread thing for each book?

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 09:33

I don't mind what we do as long as nobody writes in any books

:o

bumbleweed · 30/05/2006 09:36

writing in books has really wound you up F&Z! I agree actually I wouldnt want to read someone else's notes before forming my own opinion.
did you never underline or make margin notes if you have studies books for a course or anything?

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 09:38

Whoever finishes their book first, start a thread about it

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 09:43

Actually I did completely destroy a copy of Jude the Obscure by writing all over it, but I had bought 2 copies on purpose. I couldn't enjoy rereading a book that I or someone else, had written in. And when people have written in library books Shock Shock Angry

I am a little bit hung up about it, aren't I? Wink

dewmeadow · 30/05/2006 09:45

I totally agree Franny - also feel VERY strongly about people bending books back and breaking the spine.

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 09:47

Oh blimey, one of us is bound to do something that another book swapper considers unspeakable before sending the book on. There could be carnage until the perpetrator is discovered Shock

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 09:48

carnage ha!

HarpsichordCarrierOnSea · 30/05/2006 09:49

er
and what would you ladies think of reading in the bath??

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 09:49

cardinal sin

dewmeadow · 30/05/2006 09:51

I love reading in teh bath, but with the utmost care. For a prefect bath IMO, good book, wine, crisps, candles, lovely bubbles, music or R4, amd peace. AAAAAAAAH!

dewmeadow · 30/05/2006 09:51

pERfect bath - I am not the prefect of baths or books!

HarpsichordCarrierOnSea · 30/05/2006 09:58

blimey
yet another club I can't join then Sadthe very first thing I do when I start reading a book is break the spine so I can read it properly with one hand.
then I drop it in the bath
sit down ladies because I have something shocking to tell you - when I read A Suitable Boy I cut it in ^half
too damn big
I thought dh might swoon

dewmeadow · 30/05/2006 10:06

[no words Im so shocked emoticon]

kipper22 · 30/05/2006 14:17

I wrote things about it being for book swap in the front of the book I sent [blush was hoping that if I ever got it back everyone might have added their name as a kind of keepsake. Sorry to those who will be outraged!

BTW, 5 or so of the pages of the book I'm reading (and can't put down!) have come loose but it was like this when I received it!

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 14:19

what book it is?

MarsLady · 30/05/2006 14:30

I've emailed you katyrocks.

WigWamBam · 30/05/2006 14:36

I'd rather not have notes written in the book I sent either. If anyone wants to write notes perhaps it could be on a separate piece of paper?

I don't like breaking the spines of books either but the one I got has already got its spine broken and wodges of pages loose ... I will try really hard not to drop the loose pages in the book but can't guarantee it! I dare say someone's going to Grin

bresha · 30/05/2006 15:02

Maybe righting on a bit of paper would be a good idea , as long as we don’t Wright anything reviling about the book on it but just a quick note, and of those who don’t wont to read any ones opinions before reading the book can just not look until they have finished. It will be interesting to see at the end who liked it and who didn’t. I have a few books a adore and would go crazy if any one hurt or wrote on them but I also get a lot of books from charity shops and I really don’t care if they get written on the inside of the front cover ( not on the pages you actually read) just as long as they are enjoyed
I also read in the bath its one of the only time I get peace and quiet to read 

kickassangel · 30/05/2006 15:25

posted mine on sat, first class, so should be with someone soon (are we allowed to reveal our identities?). posty didn't bring me anything exciting this morning, so still waiting Sad

bumbleweed · 30/05/2006 17:33

What think you of people who bend over the corner of the page instead of using a bookmark?

bresha · 30/05/2006 17:36

thats just wrong, you can use any old bit of paper for a book mark,
