Book swap

I am thinking that we should do a book swap. You send a book to someone who sends a book to someone and so on. It doesn't matter if you didn't like the book, the next one might please you.

Any takers???????????????????????

I am a fan of Harlan Coben, Denise Ryan and Marian Keyes, Stuart Macbride.

WelshBoris · 26/05/2006 22:07

Just you what?

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2006 22:07

that's an impatient so and so :)

WelshBoris · 27/05/2006 08:46

Got it Franny thank you

fullmoonfiend · 27/05/2006 13:32

Frodofitz - did you get yours yet? Hope you like it, many of my friends have read it and i enjoyed it - though it's not a bookm I would have leapt on in a bookshop, IYKWIM...

kipper22 · 27/05/2006 13:37

I had an idea! Tell me if it's daft, but we could all start new threads in Book Club, calling them 'Book Swap - title of book.' Then we could post there what we think of the first book we've been sent then when the next person has read it they could call up the thread for that title (or we could put links to them from here?) to post their thought, and so on. Or is that a bit much faffing?

bresha · 27/05/2006 15:05

kipper22 thats good, i think thats the way to go

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2006 15:12

I like that idea Kipper :)

bresha · 27/05/2006 15:20

has every one got there books now?

bresha · 27/05/2006 15:23

once everyone has finished there 1st book then thay can start a thread about it, and any other nmers who might of read it can give there input to. and we can join the next thread when we have finished the next book,

bresha · 27/05/2006 15:24

or mabye the person who first sent the book should start the thread about it (althoug i have to admit i never read the book i sent)

bumbleweed · 27/05/2006 16:42

Like the idea of a thread on each book, which you can visit when you get to that particular book.
Better if the person who is reading it now starts the thread as it will be fresh in their mind. I have read the book I sent but about 6 months ago, so would need reminding! I have totally rubbish memory ( I mean really bad, I cant even remember the names of the character and plots of the great english 'classics' I have studied, or of books I read a few months ago).

JILS · 27/05/2006 16:52

LOVE READING!!!Grin Could I join in with this, or is it too late because books have been sent?

bumbleweed · 27/05/2006 17:44

books have been sent mostly but you may still be able to join if you email your RL name and address to UCM whose email is further down this thread - she must be busy at mo as has not posted here for a few days

kipper22 · 27/05/2006 17:52

Think that's better Bumbleweed - I can remember the main gist of the book you've got and that I enjoyed it but very vague otherwise.

glassofwine & JILS - I think UCM is having a nightmare at home/work at the moment from her recent threads so I'm not sure she'll be able to get back to you that quickly but if you email her there may be a way you could join in with the next round?

kickassangel · 27/05/2006 21:12

posted my book 1st class today, as i queued, i was thinking, are we going to discuss these, leave some notes with comments inside the front cover (v old fashioned - paper & pencil) or what? i like the idea of a thread for each book, then add notes as you read it, but how many of us will resist reading baout the one we've JUST received? Smile

katyrocks · 28/05/2006 12:42

jils and glassofwine, i know UCM is a bit busy at the mo, so email me your addresses to:

[email protected]

i'll add you onto the list and then forward the updated list to both of you and to UCM.

you could send a book to each other, and then next time round, (which will be in about 3 weeks), you can send to the person below you on the list, so you're 'in the loop'

katyrocks · 28/05/2006 12:45

kka, posted 1st class yesterday, so you should receive it soon.

i like the idea of a thread for each book title. it seems the easiest way. i also like the idea of notes in the front cover

PrincessBoris · 29/05/2006 22:03

franny have you got your book yet?

dont know who i sent mine out to but have you received it yet? its the bad mothers handbook

katyrocks · 29/05/2006 23:20

princess boris, is that you? have you gone up in the world?

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 08:31

Yes tis me!

Ill change later I quite like the power and glamour at the moment

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 08:53

Boris, I got mine a while ago. I'm half way through, it's a great book.

PrincessBoris · 30/05/2006 08:55

Ok Ill tell you when I finish yours and you can send it on to me

bresha · 30/05/2006 08:56

Hello there. How is every one doing? Is every one ok with the idea of notes in the front cover? I don’t mind if any one wrights in the book I sent! I am just getting in to the book I was sent, the language is a bit old fashioned so it took a bit of getting used to, but enjoying it now 

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2006 08:58

I do not like the idea of writing in any book, no. Spoils it for future readers IMO. Books are not for writing in - use a bit of paper.
