What a fantastic thread! I've come to the computer to do something else entirely but, as so often, mumsnet has drawn me in and distracted me! My brother and I were brought up on Ant and Bee: aren't they fantastic? But also on the Mister Men and the Timbuktu series (also by Roger Hargreaves). However, I heartily disapprove of the Little Misses, or anything after about Mr Bounce...

At the moment ds2 is mad about Tweenies, and there was a Marks and Sparks collection of Tweenies stories out a couple of years ago, the first of which is where Doodles gets stuck in a tree. How many times have I had to read this??? Whereas ds1 wants us to read Power Rangers magazines to him - evil emperor Grumm and lots of crash, bang, wallop. Sigh.

Incidentally, part of the reason I find Peepo so moving is because the picture on the back reminds me that Janet Ahlberg died a few years back. Sic transit...

BIG fan of JD's Books current favourite Night Monkey, Day Monkey, DD loves Spinderella;
and Usbourne Apple Tree Farm Books - although I think Mrs Boot and Ted have a thing going Wink. Not suprising as I've only seen Mr Boot in one book and he was up front with the train driver Shock!!

Biggest hate... MEG AND MOG.... what is all that about??!!! someone must have been snorting something to come up with that kind of disjointed rubbish.

I worship at the altar of We're Going on A Bear Hunt

Passed my final teaching practice cos of it - based all my teaching round the book

Am a tad fed up with it now though Grin

I like "Pants" - has mileage

plus Not Now Bernard - bloody brilliant
