I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

Hi everyone!

I've rejoined ww after a few years and it's very different ..

Can I ask, does anyone else find anything snacky is sooo over the top for points?! I understand they are trying to "put us off" but I think it may end up counter productive for me. Like, I wanted a coconut macaroon today and it came out 8 points! I only get 23 a day! It was about four bites at most to. If everytime I want a treat it takes up almost half my daily allowance I feel like I'll be throwing the towel in early...

RolandOnTheRopes · 02/07/2019 12:55

Thank you thismeansnothing and HippyTrails I'll check out your suggestions.
DownstairsMixUp yes I've been quite shocked by how many points were in a couple of yoghurt/dessert type puddings. And the slice of fruit cake yesterday was loads. I've just done a food shop and bought lots of raspberries, strawberries, peaches, grapes and some fat free yoghurt so those are going to be my snacks. I've only been doing it about a week (and gone over my points every day), but it's making me more mindful of what I'm eating, and it's making saying no to crisps and chocolate easier.

thismeansnothing · 02/07/2019 18:59

In regards to snacks i find it's easy to have a zero point/low point breakfast similar with lunch so gives me room for a snack in the evening. Chocolate hobnob from Aldi is 4SP so easy to fit in with some planning.

DownstairsMixUp · 04/07/2019 06:51

Thanks everyone, I think this is going to be a lot harder than I thought!

HippyTrails · 04/07/2019 10:55

Weigh in night tonight - it's not going to be good, had a pretty unsuccessful week but 100% back on track now & will be reporting my loss next week

For those talking about high point snacks - Weight Watchers Belgian choc bars are lovely & only 3 points each. also the Sula sugar free or Ricola hard sweets are really nice & only 2 points for half a box. The Butterscotch one's are my personal favorite

Also have a recipe for an orange & chickpea cake which isn't terrible & 0 points - i'll post it when I get home if anyone would like it?

Gained half a pound. Wtaf. Tracked and followed plan by the absolute letter AND got 190 activity points. Absolute joke

DownstairsMixUp · 04/07/2019 21:26

So sorry you didn't lose, it's really disheartening isn't it. I find the days I exercise no way can I stick with the 23 points, I'm absolutely starving and it isn't sustainable

SparklesandFlowers · 04/07/2019 21:36

Hi All, I've just found this thread! Rejoined after having a baby in the new year. Had about 3 stone to lose. I managed to get the first 13lbs off, then put 4 or so back on and can't shift any more. But that's because I'm not following the plan closely. I don't know what to do.

I get 41 daily points (yes, really!) as I'm breastfeeding but still can't stick to it. Heaven help me when I stop breastfeeding. I need a massive kick up the butt, please, ans some support!!!

HippyTrails · 05/07/2019 09:55

Had a gain at weigh in last night but have been properly back on track this week

Planning is the key I think, with my planned meals today I will of only used 9 points as I tend to meal plan around 0 point foods - it all goes wrong if I open a bottle a wine though

thismeansnothing · 09/07/2019 12:59

Lost 1.5lb this week 👍🏻 16lb in total now

RolandOnTheRopes · 10/07/2019 15:42

thismeansnothing fantastic progress, well done 👍
I'm down 4lb so far. Need to go for a run tonight, put off from yesterday.

thismeansnothing · 10/07/2019 16:27

Thanks! 10lb to go till at a healthy BMI and gold membership. Although that seems like an impossible task atm

Ineedachange · 12/07/2019 05:58

Hello Folks, I have weight to lose and I need help.
I’ve lost weight with weight watchers years ago, but it seems very different now. And I also notice the workshops are quite far away from me. I’ll be working full-time so it’s a bit of a pain.

Cani ask how you make WW work for you? I’m one of those people whose not very good on their own, poor will power, so I’m hoping for support going forward.

Thank you 😊

thismeansnothing · 12/07/2019 09:39

@Ineedachange
I've never done diet clubs like SW / WW etc before. I normally use MFP and work to keep me on the strait and narrow. But I'm on Mat.Leave ATM and mfp just wasn't working for me.

So why I joined WW and 9 weeks in its working for me is a few things. Financial. I'm paying for it so I'm going to stick at it. I'm not chucking money away and not following it.
Accountability. Knowing someone of 'authority' is going to weigh me every week.
Tracking. The app is fantastic. Like a simplified version of MFP. I'm not having to log EVERYTHING so it's not as time consuming, it's connected to my Fitbit so I get activity points to. There's a good database if recipes too which I've done and most have been a success.
Simplicity. It really is easy not much to get your head round.

My 3 month membership (online and studio) is about to end beginning of August. So as it's summer holidays I'm going to try online only. If that works I'm going to stick to that for the last few pounds.

Ineedachange · 12/07/2019 10:31

Thismeansnothing - I’ve used MFP and my Fitbit too. It worked brilliantly.
However I gave a different set of circumstances this time and like you I don’t think MFP is going to work without support.

Great that’s it’s going well for you. I’ll keep a eye on here and join up and see how things go. I’m heavier than I’ve been in a looong time so I’m feeling desperate.

Do you know if you can use a Garmin instead of a Fitbit? I upgraded to a for running but I’ve never used it for anything other than tracking my runs. I’m not running atm which is part of my problem and I need to get back to it.

thismeansnothing · 12/07/2019 11:45

Yes you can sync your Garmin to it too.
Depending what Garmin you have ifi it tracks your steps through the day that will also give you activity points. So if your not back in your running groove yet you'll still pick up some extra points just through your walking :)

Littlepigsmig · 17/07/2019 13:20

I've joined, used the referral code from WeightWatching, so I hope you get your free month!

Second day for me and it's ok so far, I've linked mu Fitbit do activity points are automatic.

The app seems similar to MFP, I like how you can scan the barcode as that makes finding foods very easy!

PenelopeFlintstone · 21/07/2019 13:15

Hi, I'd like to join. Smile
I'm two days off the end of my first week. I'm quite surprised by all the Zero Point foods. It just doesn't seem feasible to me. Hope that's not being too much of a downer.
I'll be sticking with it for 6 months though and I want to lose a kilo (2lb) a week as I'm pretty big. I know that might not probably won't happen but the WW study quoted in their introductory booklet says the average weight loss was just over 6lbs in six months; frankly, that's not enough!!! (Or maybe that was 6kgs - I can't remember now)

RolandOnTheRopes · 24/07/2019 15:25

Hi Penelope I lost 2lb each week for the first two weeks, maintained the third week. Week four weigh in today, 1lb down.
Slow and steady, just like my running pace Grin

thismeansnothing · 25/07/2019 16:58

Gained 1.5lb last week.
Weigh in today (2 days late) and lost 5lb!!!! That's 19 1/2 lb since I started 11 week ago.

One of the biggest achievements was when shopping yday I bobbed into superdry. I've always found there stuff snug. And used to be an XL which was their 16. Only managed to comfortably zip up a size 12 coat yday. Very pleased. Even though I didn't buy it 🤣

Hi Roland
Well, I lost 1.3kg (2.86lbs) in my first week. It sounded disappointing in kilos because my own scales (both sets Grin ) said 2kgs, but now I've converted it for MN it reads much better!
Tomorrow is my second weigh-in. I'll report back.

PenelopeFlintstone · 29/07/2019 14:07

Does anyone use the app Itrackbites to do the old Plus Points? I'm using that and also the WW app, just to compare. That's after watching some youtube videos on the new plan.

Littlepigsmig · 29/07/2019 20:57

I've lost 7lbs in my first two weeks, liking it so far, it seems less restrictive than SW.

Not been great food wise the past couple of days, only have a few weeklies left, but I guess the idea is that it allows for flexibility as life is not all salad and veg!!

PenelopeFlintstone · 30/07/2019 11:56

I weighed in tonight and lost 0.8kgs which is 1.7lbs.
4.56lbs in two weeks. That's fine.
