Hey everyone! Wondering if anyone is interested in another support group? I'm about to return to meetings in a week or so and I'm in desperate need of extra motivation. I've done so well in the past and I've backslidden so much :( I've also got about six stone to lose so it won't be an easy journey.... but I'd love to share top tips and support if anyone else is interested?

Hi,
I'm thinking of joining ww as I've been doing sw on and off for years but heavier than ever! I haven't done ww for years but I think a new focus may help,

I've got a hen do next weekend so not sure whether to join this Tuesday or wait until the following one....

So I think I've got between 4 & 5 stone to lose. ☹️☹️☹️

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 24/06/2017 23:03

Hey mummybear!
I've never done slimming world but I do know WW works - I've done it before and lost almost five stone (but put loads back on sadly). You just need to be focused. It usually accounts for nights out etc as well so you can factor in your hen do if you do join this week - although I'm waiting til next Monday myself as I can't get to a meeting this week.

What are your hen do plans?

Mummybear1984 · 24/06/2017 23:16

That's good that you've lost on it before. I've never got further than a stone off before and put more on so hetting to goal seems very unachievable but hopefully this time I will!

Hen do is spa Friday- buffet lunch with scone and cake afternoon tra, Saturday breakfast out, lunch- -afternoon tea so sandwiches cakes scones, then 3 course dinner- alcohol throughout! Sunday breakfast and lunch out...
think il be better starting following week although I can be good Wednesday, Thursday Monday...

Blondielongie · 24/06/2017 23:24

Hiya, I'm nearly at my target weight with ww (sort of nearly there anyway, been nearly there for ages now) I had 3stone to lose, down around 2 stone, just cant shift the last one. Is taking ages to come off. According to the charts I should have lost it a couple weeks ago, but it seems to really slow down towards the end.

I've been using my fitness pal to check what calories I'm eating alongside points and it is at 1200, so not sure what else I can do. I guess half a lb less a week will add up in time...

Mummy bear - can you save points up for the spa day?

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 24/06/2017 23:37

Welcome blondie!

Mummy - you get extra points for the week I think for special treats - and the ww website on the app always had good ideas for drinks etc. the spa day and the scones etc do sound lovely though!

I used to feel so self conscious eating out when I was on plan - thinking people would judge me for being so fussy etc bt actually I noticed other people didn't even notice really

Blondie - congrats on doing so well! Although 1200 calories sounds really low - could it be that you're eating too little?

Also - have you tried the new ww kitchen meals? I'm quite tempted by them to get into the swing of cooking new things - but I don't know anyone who's actually had any yet

OP posts:
Blondielongie · 25/06/2017 07:58

Hiya, it might be actually. I've just changed mfp to the list 1lb a week and recommended calories had gone up to 1340. Will try that :)

I use electric scales. Wish I could take them everywhere 😂 I think the ww ones are just a way to make more money from us. For the old points system I made an excell document on word to calculate points. Was brilliant for the things they didn't have in the books.

MercuryRising · 25/06/2017 08:10

I would love to join your support group. My youngest dc is almost 16 months and I have been trying to shift the baby weight for ages. I just can't get motivated. I need to lose 35lbs before May next year when I will be my sister's bridesmaid. I am going to have a no count week this week. I think I really need to focus on having one good week at a time.

Today my plan is:
Breakfast: scrambled egg and tomatoes on thins.
Lunch: tuna salad
Dinner: quorn spaghetti bolognese
Snacks: fruit and 5sp of treats this evening.

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 25/06/2017 08:44

Welcome mercury :)

I like the forward planning of your food. I do so well planning out breakfast and lunch and then end the day eating a load of biscuits. What's the quorn spag bol like? Is it significantly lower in points?

I was planning on going for a brisk early morning walk to try to kick start my metabolism 😂

Blondie - I love your spreadsheet idea! And taking the scales - I'm so bad at guesstimating what Things weigh when I'm out.

I have a wedding to attend in august so I think my first goal is just to get the dress to a looser fitting - it's not too tight but it would definitely look better a few pounds (half a stone...) lighter

OP posts:
MercuryRising · 25/06/2017 13:11

Thanks for the welcome Tiger. I'm veggie so only eat quorn mince but I really like it. It is free on no count.

I took the dc out for an hours walk so have earnt some fitpoints. My target is 21 but I very rarely hit this. My goal this week is to track everything amd hit my exercise goal.

PippaRose · 25/06/2017 14:54

Hi all would be great to join.

I have 1.5st to lose now, am coming up to the end of week one with weigh in tomorrow. Am doing smart points.

Find weekends to be the hardest time!

MercuryRising · 25/06/2017 22:20

Hi Pippa. I think weekends are really tricky. Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow.

Mummybear1984 · 25/06/2017 22:39

Hi everyone, think I will be relying on this group as determined to make ww work for me. I'm going to do it with a mixture of the no s diet to try and overcome my sweet tooth and over snacking - or actually binge eating. Will go to my first meeting on Tuesday but will sign up tomorrow as it's pay day! They've got a 25% off deal on the website hope it's still there tomorrow!

Hope everyone's had a good week.

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 25/06/2017 22:51

Hey Pippa! Good luck at weigh in tomorrow - let us know how you get on! Weekends are hard - I find being at work gives a great routine so anything outside of that throws me off course. Let us know if you come up with any great ways to stay strong over the weekends

And good luck for Tuesday mummy! I read a great article on cocktails that weren't too bad with weight loss - mainly avoid anything with fruit or cream lol. But they did say something about freezing watermelon and adding diet lemonade and vodka I think - maybe you could get them to make some adaptations for you at the hen do?

I went for a brisk walk this morning but I don't quite think I'm at the running stage yet :( I'll keep up with the walking though and hopefully that will make the big difference this time around. So glad we're getting a little group going - I'm really looking forward to having somewhere we can share our successes and support each other xx

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 25/06/2017 22:52

Oh mercury I meant to say - you inspired me to add some quorn cubes to my shopping cart this week! I'm thinking I'll find something nice to season it with and see how it cooks up :)

OP posts:
PippaRose · 26/06/2017 09:42

Hi all am 2lb down so am pleased with that. Have extra points for breastfeeding but we started on solids at the weekend so may need to adjust slightly.

I just find going out so hard, I know the plan allows extra points for it. But it's so hard to not be tempted especially after a drink or too!

As I'm on maternity leave most of my meals are eaten at home so I don't really have an excuse!

Blondielongie · 26/06/2017 16:57

Overall I've been really good for the past 16 weeks. (2stone lost)

Today was a special occasion and I have so far eaten:

1.5 croissants with 2 pieces of bacon and cheese. As well as muesli.
3 thin shortbread biscuits
1 small mars bar
small fish and chips from chippy
and a rissole (for those not in Wales, this is a breadbrumbed, deep fried potatoey beefy thing)

Not had dinner yet , but we have planned half a cheese pizza each.

One day of binge eating can't undo months of hard work right?? 😂 be back on the salad and soups tomorrow.

Feel super lathargic now like I do when I've had a hangover. Some people eat like this every day! (I used to be one of them... No wonder I got so far before!!)

Pippa, I've pretty much stopped drinking alcohol since the diet started. It makes me not care about what I eat. One glass of wine goes hand in hand with cheese and crackers.

PippaRose · 26/06/2017 17:25

Blondielongie - well done that's an amazing loss! I think we all have days where things don't quite go to plan, just have to start again tomorrow

Blondielongie · 26/06/2017 18:27

Thank you, I just want to lose one more stone, but slowly is fine by me.

I love steamed spinach with a poached egg and soy sauce. So few points with that meal too! Will have that tomorrow. How long have you got left of maternity? Mine ended in December but I still haven't gone back to work....Thank God for DH. Will be going back in September. I guess that's my goal time to get to the size I want.

PippaRose · 26/06/2017 20:08

That's a great idea for a low point recipe, wouldn't have thought of poached egg with soy sauce but bet they go together really well.

Have until November so would like to get to goal for then. Would like to lose more really but have to be realistic!

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 26/06/2017 22:59

Hey everyone!

Well done Pippa on weigh in!! Whoop!

My day was much worse - although I haven't yet formally started WW I know the principles and what to eat etc but I had such an awful headache that only the great ingestion of fatty carbs seemed to curb. And then I went out for dinner. But I'm taking head of the its just one day and I'll be back on track tomorrow :)

What's everyone's dinner suggestions for this week? I want to do something a bit different - does anyone have any good ideas?

OP posts:
TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 26/06/2017 23:02

Ps - blondie - 2 stone in sixteen weeks is amazing! I hope I can keep track with that :D
I'm kinda the opposite of you two - I'm hoping to start TTC no.1 next year, but I want to be in far better health first and lose a fair bit of weight. Although I'm also getting older so I have to weigh the two up against each other and I doubt I'll get to a proper goal weight before we start properly trying....

OP posts:
Mummybear1984 · 26/06/2017 23:17

Evening all,

Well done Pippa, that's a good loss. Blonde- you're doing fantastically.

I get that too tiger- I'm keen to lose weight and get my body stronger in case we plan for number 3- I had a tough pregnancy with my second and think it would have been easier if I was lighter.

I've signed up to ww tonight as they had 25% off first month. Off to my first class tomorrow night! Very nervous but keen to be on track as much as possible around my niceties- and save points each day and drink low points alcohol- where possible!
Let's see what tomorrow brings!

Blondielongie · 27/06/2017 07:29

Thank you :) I did 30 day shred religiously for the first month. Now just weights and try to walk, and squats/crunches when I remember (not often!) but noticed weight loss has slowed down since stopping the shred.

I lost a stone before ttc my son. Now I'm back on track I'm put off ttc another one for a while. Want to enjoy this a bit. But you do see those super fit mums. (I used to follow diary of a fit mummy for inspiration..)

What are you going to eat today tiger?

I'm going to have 200g jacket potato, 100g cottage cheese and 100g baked beans for lunch.

For dinner it will be a tortilla wrap with 1tbsp soft cheese and a load of veg on top baked like a pizza in the oven. And eat it very very slowly with 2-3 pints of water.

We've got loads of strawberries so will snack on them. Not sure about breakfast. my son was up at 6, might just have muesli or toast in an hour.

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 27/06/2017 07:58

Morning!

Blondie - what's the 30 day shred?

I'm going to have some cereal for breakfast, and a chicken salad for lunch. I'm thinking I might try the quorn for dinner, but I'm not sure what to do with it. Or some sort of chicken dish - maybe a fake nando's with grilled chicken breast, pita and salad.

I've got some carrot sticks for snacking and grapes - amazing black grapes from sainsbury that taste really good. I think tonight will be the hard part - not snacking on things while I'm pottering about. Maybe I should try another walk tonight to distract myself and get out of the routine

Have a great day everyone! Any one else want to weigh in with their food ideas (so I can shamelessly steal recipes Wink

OP posts:
Blondielongie · 27/06/2017 08:13

Down a load of water before every meal and whenever you want a snack!

I've written 'please do not eat any chocolate today' at the top of my fppd diary today 😂

Ooh make the quorn thing! I have quorn mince in freezer. Might make a cottage pie one day this week.
