I'm so desperate to lose weight . I 'only' want to lose 2 stone , heck 1 would do but despite my best efforts it won't budge .. I joined ww last week and I'm feeling really hopeful . I'm actually a good member from 12 years ago after my dd but it's changed a lot since then . I love the app and am sticking to it .. please give me some hope . 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hello, can I join in please?

Joined WW on a whim on Sunday. I've always gone back to Slimming World because my family are all slimming world fans and wax lyrical about how unhealthy WW is because you can eat chicken nuggets and be 'on plan' Confused so I bought it and never bothered looking into it. I've got about 3 stone to lose, I lost half a stone doing slimming world since March but that was on and off with a couple of gains in between because I kept falling off the wagonBlush

My mum and sister would prefer to eat vast quantities of the same food for the rest of their lives, whereas I'd rather have a little bit of lots of different foods so I think WW is going to suit me much better! I did my first day on plan today and I'm satisfied and happy. It's so easy with the app!Grin I had a pre-planned lunch out so dipped into my weekly points which is all good, because you have them for these reasons! I'll be weighing in on Sunday so hopefully I'll see some results!

sez49 · 22/05/2017 20:05

Welcome StayGold. Weekly point are definitely there for a reason! For me WW offers that flexibility which makes it so much easier to manage a long term lifestyle change. And the fact I can exercise more to earn fitpoints, if I need to spend a few more points eating out for example. I have seen, elsewhere, quite a few people switch from SW to WW and do the no count with WW, as it is similar but allows some bread and a few other things that I understand weren't allowed on SW? I also like that I can switch between smart points and tracking, as and when it suits me (although I do mostly point). Well done on the previous loss too.

sez49 · 22/05/2017 20:07

Oops, I meant ... I like that I can switch between smart points and no count!

StayGoldPonyBoy · 22/05/2017 20:11

Yeah, I had a look at no count and was so excited it had crumpets on itGrin they're like 7 syns on Slimming World and some things are so high syn you basically can't eat them, whereas WW is much more flexible. I'm going to stick to smart points til I get my head around things and have a go at a No Count week and see how it compares- does seem very similar to Slimming World so should be a doddle!

imjessie · 22/05/2017 21:44

Welcome staygold ... we are all feeling the same about the app and the choices . I just hope it works !! I'm only on about day 10 so still feeling hopeful ! 🙏🏻

How are we all doing ? Any more weigh in's lately ? ..

Hi Jessie!

I'm on day 2 and still doing well. I'm feeling pretty suspicious as I'm eating really well. I'm trying to get all my points in as I've heard you won't lose if you don't. I always meal plan a week in advance so Ive logged my pre-planned evening meals first off and then each day I'm deciding on a breakfast, lunch, and snacks once I know how many points are left. Grin

justkeeponsmiling · 23/05/2017 19:39

Hi all! I was wondering if I could join in please? I love WW as a weightloss tool, I have used it twice in the past to lose weight and found it really easy to follow with great results.
I started the online plan today, I have about a stone to lose. I also really want to get fitter alongside losing the weight, I used to be super fit and currently just feel like a big ball of flab! Took the dog for a very brisk mountain walk for an hour this morning and also managed to do 20 minutes toning yoga this afternoon. I work shifts so there will inevitably be days when I do little exercise but I am determine to do a little bit every day.
Problem is: I am starving tonight! I think it's due to the exercise, I have been hungry ever since I have come back from this morning's dog walk Grin Not sure if I should eat my exercise points, so to speak? I have had over my daily points already and started to eat into the weekly allowance as I currently have my settings so that weekly points are used first, then the exercise points. Not sure if I should change this.

imjessie · 23/05/2017 19:44

Of course , welcome !! I don't eat my weeklies or exercise points to be honest . I mostly have a banana for breakfast , a big fat white bread ham and salad sandwich for lunch with fruit or a yogurt and a meal . I top up with weight watchers treats if I'm short on my points . A wispa is 11 sp so I'd rather have a few treats across the day for less sp . Have you considered making some free soup to fill you up?

justkeeponsmiling · 23/05/2017 20:02

Thanks for the welcome jessie !
Yes good point, I forgot about free soups. It doesn't help that I have hardly any fruit in the house either. When I previously did WW I used to snack on fruit like an apple or a banana to bridge the gap between meals. Thanks for reminding me, I'm off to the shops tomorrow to stock up and will have a dig around the cupboards to see if I can rustle up some free soup right now.

Gitto36 · 24/05/2017 20:20

I so need somebody's help. I'm so down in the dumps. If you've got time to read this then please do.
I left my job in Feb 16 and then had an operation in September 16, all resulting in near enough being non active and a gain of 1.5st I've never had a problem with my weight really and even after 2 children and both weight gains of 4st I was able to get this off over time and for years I've been comfortable at 9st 4lb. But now creeping up to nearly 11st I can't believe I've allowed myself to get there, doctor says that it only needs a slight change in diet or exercise for a weight gain.
So I joined SW in February but in 3 weeks only managed 2lb loss but hated it, hated eating all the food, hated the group, hated the leader talking about everyone's gains and losses, I feel that that should be kept private especially if you've gained as the last thing you want to hear is "so so and so you've gained x amount of lbs since last week, why do you think that is" how humiliating. I left as didn't agree with it and the plan itself.
I then gained those 2lb back on so joined ww I did the first week on sp and lost nothing so tried no count and again lost nothing so tried going back to the old ww which I did in 2008 and lost but now a week doing the pointing and still lost nothing.
On top of everything when I decided to try excersise I heard a crack in my hip and so am having physio and waiting for x ray to see what I've done so again excercising is a no no especially leg excercises.
What on earth am I doing wrong to not even be able to lose a lb? I'm at my wit's end now as got my holiday in August and today I've tried on my summer clothes and cannot do them up. How hard can it be to lose 1lb? I'd be happy with getting a stone off. Please can anyone help me. X

imjessie · 24/05/2017 21:13

Hi gitto , I'm 11 stone ish and my preferred weight is 9.7 ish .. I don't have the answers but will say I've been trying to lose weight for years and I'm the two weeks I've been doing ww I feel more in control than I have for years .. it's so easy and you literally can eat what you want ( you just need to make good choices ) .. so why not give it a go? We have all only just started so we can do it together ! 👌🏻😁

OP posts:
imjessie · 24/05/2017 21:16

I don't know about the old ww but this one is brilliant . The app works everything out for you and there is a barcode scanner and a list of the best meals at most restaurants . It's really very good ! I lost 3 lbs my first week and hope for more this week . Obviously I'm not an expert but after messing around with slimming world on and off I feel like this can be forever . I can eat like this forever ! I feel pretty excited at the prospect of being slim again to be honest !!

OP posts:
twinmummy25 · 24/05/2017 21:24

Hi gitto, sounds like you've had such a rough time lately, I know it's a really obvious question but are you weighing and measuring everything and keeping a record of it as you go? What sort of meals have you been trying? Don't give up though, if you're eating better then at least you're being healthier which is a bonus xx

imjessie · 24/05/2017 21:26

Ps .. the points have changed since 2008 . It's smart points now instead of pro points so it's worth joining and using the app .

OP posts:
sez49 · 24/05/2017 21:53

Hi Gitto. I can sympathise with your frustrations. As twinmummy says are you weighing and measuring everything and tracking everything you consume? Also, are you eating all your points and weekly points? Are you drinking plenty of water? Are you eating too much fruit? Whilst it is no pointed, as it is 'free' I know some people who go overboard with the fruit the eat and don't get the results on the scales.

I have tried every WW plan over the last 26 years. I like this one the most. It took me a while to get used to the smart points and the fact that my sweeter fixes had suddenly rocketed in points (compared to the old pro points) but I have lost over 7st so far, eating healthier and feeling much more motivated than I have done in my life!

Despite sticking on plan, since starting back last year, I have had lots of weeks where I have gained. Definitely think my changing hormones are playing havoc with my body at the moment, but I keep going and eventually it sorts itself out. I have started doing some No Count days too but have mostly stuck with smart points.

justkeeponsmiling · 24/05/2017 21:59

Hi Gitto that sounds really tough. I agree with twin , do you really weigh and measure everything? For example I measured the exact amount of milk I have in my tea and had a shock, I estimated it at around half of what it actually was! It's really worth following it to the letter and being 100% honest and log absolutely everything! I did WW a while ago when SP first came out and it worked really well for me when I followed it to the t then so I am hopeful it will be the same this time round.
With regards to exercise, are you able to do some gentle yoga? I have just re-started this, getting all my instructions on youtube. I think it really helps focusing the mind and leaves me feeling positive so maybe helpful?

imjessie · 25/05/2017 18:58

Weigh in tonight And I've lost 4 pounds !! So half a stone is 2 weeks !! Amazing!!

Fantastic jessie! I gained again this week. ☹️ Staying on plan, so it is my body messing me around, probably got some extra water retention too, with the warmer weather. I need to increase my water intake even more with the warmer temps.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 26/05/2017 21:11

Well done Jessie! I can't wait to weigh in on Sunday. I feel a lot less bloated than usual so I'm hoping for good results. I've been chugging water every day to try help me out Halo Also, are we meant to use all our weekly points same as daily ones or not? I've got 22 left and only one day to go. I don't feel like extra food would be beneficial to weight loss but I don't want to under eat and not lose because I'm not eating enough Confused

imjessie · 26/05/2017 22:24

I didn't eat my weeklies at all the first week and then ate about half the second week and still lost so I don't know the answer to that 😬

OP posts:
sez49 · 27/05/2017 09:39

I have always eaten all of my weeklies. Over 7st lost so far.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 27/05/2017 18:23

Thanks, I've used them up because we ordered in tonight. Hopefully I haven't scuppered myself but I've stuck to plan! Just feel like such a cheat because I can eat so much and so many different things. I've had crumpets and a Chinese today and I'm 'on a diet' HmmGrin
