First off, I know there's a dedicated area in big/slim/whatever but I'm after traffic as it's a bit quiet in the WW section. Second, I know that 5:2 and low carb are popular on MN but neither of them suit me whereas I've lost weight with WW in the fairly distant past and regained due to unrelated issues which I'll leave out for now. I'm sure there are plenty of opinions on why it doesn't work but for me it does.

Just wondering if anyone is thinking of signing up and would like a support thread over on the WW board. I have at least 4st to lose and would appreciate it. I can't go to meetings as they don't fit in with work, so will be doing it online (half price on the website at the moment and Top Cashback give a few quid back). Anyone in?

Good luck poorpaws

lauryloo · 08/01/2017 14:46

I'm thinking of signing up to ww. I've done it before and sw.

I had been swaying towards sw a bit more, but I think ww might be a bit more flexible plus the app is so much better than the sw one

startwig1982 · 08/01/2017 17:53

I have my first weigh in tomorrow and hoping for 3-4 lbs. I have eaten a lot today but am within my points, in fact I have 2 left over. Fingers crossed!

sez49 · 08/01/2017 18:32

lauryloo I do find WW flexible and the app invaluable. It is many, many years since I tried SW. Personally I prefer WW, but I don't know how much SW has changed since I last went! Good luck whatever you decide to go for.

lauryloo · 08/01/2017 21:13

I signed up this afternoon online, and I'm having my first weigh in and starting counting tomorrow

I just like the idea of having a little of what I fancy and not cutting out a load of foods completely

I also bought a Fitbit and I'm going to get moving more too

sez49 · 08/01/2017 22:17

lauryloo that's great. That is what is working for me, a bit of what I fancy, now and again. I bought a Garmin activity tracker, but it still links to the WW app. That has really helped get me moving and I walk every day now. Used to do very little!

sez49 · 08/01/2017 22:18

Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in startwig1982.

GiGiraffe · 08/01/2017 22:22

I'm also weighing tomorrow, have eaten all my points this week and about 13 of my weeklies. I am feeling really hungry tonight, but I think I'm just going to go to bed instead. Night all Smile

poorpaws · 08/01/2017 23:43

First weigh-in and lost 3 1/4 lbs so not too bad. Thank you all for your support.

Good luck startwig, lauryloo, gigiraffe and anyone else weighing in tomorrow, fingers crossed for you all.

I hope you all have a great week with good losses.

poorpaws · 08/01/2017 23:50

Oh Jennifer I forgot you weigh on Mondays too 😊 Lots of luck for you too, sorry.

lavenirestanous · 09/01/2017 00:42

I'm in. Lost a stone before Christmas but have put about 5 pounds on over the holidays.
I'm 14st1lb, I have struggled with my weight most of my life, but I have had a crap couple of years with several bereavements, and have just eaten too much and become a bit reclusive as a result of depression.
My goal weight is 9 and a half stones. I haven't been that weight since my twenties and I'm now in my 50s. I've had health problems including a cancer scare and h pylori like a previous poster, as well as depression, and I'm now working on both my physical and mental health in order to feel better.
I have found WW online to be better for me as I do not lose weight quickly, and have a pattern of losing one week, then sticking or very little loss for a couple of weeks, followed by another larger loss, having followed the programme religiously. I would get sick of leaders obviously not believing that I'd not cheated! I find that I have to look at my weight trajectory over a period of a month rather than a week in order to see the downward trend.

First weigh in today lost 4.5 lbsSmile been tracking everything and have kept within daily points most days and used fit points first when going over dailys. Feeling motivated for the next week and going to make a meal plan as in the past this has been by down fall. Good luck with your weigh ins

First weigh in today -3.6lbs. I know I should be happy but I am a bit meh about it. Am sticking with it though.

Well done to all the other Monday losers Brew

stevie69 · 09/01/2017 13:31

Me please. I am nearing the end of my weight loss phase (it's taken me over six years on and off) but I know that getting to goal is, in fact, just the start.

Good luck to all you ladies and gents on the journey. I really have felt your pain so please do feel free to ask if you think that I can help with anything. I'm not an expert or anything—just a normal girl who went from a size 20 (circa 2010) to a size 8 now. No pills, no fads. It can be done :-) Keep the faith.

Hi all, my weigh day was yesterday and I lost 3lbs. I know weight watchers works for me but I was nervous this week as I'm breast feeding and am on a MASSIVE 53 points so couldn't see how on earth I would lose any! Hopefully this week there'll be another good loss and I can shift this weight and get back to myself asap! Looking at ordering beginners 30 day shred to help me on my way too. Have got the original 30 day shred but I'm far too unfit and my joints are still sore from SPD during my pregnancy so I'm being sensible and starting a little lower impact. Need to find a super supportive sports bra first though Grin

stevie69 · 09/01/2017 14:50

Hi, look at Enell for the sports bra. Not always easy to find and not super aesthetic but, once you're in there, NOTHING'S moving. I discovered the brand when I was larger and, despite the fact that I could probably go for something a bit more delicate now, I still go for this one.

Whattodosue · 09/01/2017 19:00

Hello all. Can I join? I'm afraid I haven't read all the posts (I'll go back and do that), but I am currently trying to resist the urge to each my children's chocolate, so I thought I'd post! And all those good first weight losses are fantastic. I went to my first meeting in MONTHS yesterday. I've been 'joined' (and paying) for over a year, and in that time I've lost a stone, and put it all back on again (over the last 4 months). So, instead of cancelling my membership (which I should have done a year ago, and then re-joined!), I'm going to go back, and re-loose the weight, and the bit more I need to loose. I AM!!!

Problem is, my first week (this week), I'm due to go away for three days to a work thing at which there will be tons of really nice cake and puddings. I normally have a really good first week, and that helps to keep me motivated. i'm a bit worried I'm going to spoil things before I start. I'm due to be going away in 3 1/2 weeks (not long!), and I am hoping to loose half a stone, so that I can fit into my clothes again :( I'm stuck with one pair of jeans at the moment. I won't fit into them all that way, but I will be bulging out of some of them less.

Miffytastic · 10/01/2017 10:03

Hello everyone, I think I started a NY WW thread last year or the year before Blush (and hello Poorpaws I remember you!) Also in an awful sense of deja vu I need to lose the weight I put on with uni deadline stress (which also happened in 2015). it's great to have a busy thread and encouragement.

My first offcial WI was last night, but I was 4lbs down from my one at home on bank holiday Monday last week. Got just over a stone to lose now (16lbs to be back at goal). I am also doing veganuary for added fun, which is actually helping at the moment. I've been doing WW off and on for years. I do like it, I just need to work out how not to yo yo back up once I get to goal, that's the hard bit.

Finalshotshell · 10/01/2017 12:39

Hey if anyone is on weight watchers or slimming world or just looking for support we have a small group on Facebook. It's not an official group of weight watchers or slimming world. It's just a small group of people looking to lose weight have support. Many follow weight watchers but you don't have too. Just helps to get support, speak out of your struggling or show how fab your doing xx if interested just search for body busters xx

lavenirestanous - shame your experience of leaders hasn't been good. My leader always talks about looking at the picture over a month as she appreciates that everyone is different and losses do not always show at the scales, even when they are deserved. Great you can stick with it online and keep motivated despite not losing every week. Definitely sounds like you are doing the right thing for you and looking at the loss over a month.

thehoundschicken · 10/01/2017 15:54

How is everyone doing? Well done to first weigh in losses. Mines is on a Thursday. I'm on nights so my food is a bit mixed up but today I have had

Snack at work - quavers 3sp
Breakfast/snack before bed - 3 Jacobs crackers and Philly light with chives 5sp (trying to use up the Xmas crackers
3pm wake up - cup of tea and naked coco loco small bar 4sp and babybel light 1sp
I have 17 sp there and will make pasta and smoked sausage tonight with a bit of cheese since I have lots of points. Back at work at 7 pm

namechangedtoday15 · 10/01/2017 16:57

I was out at a dinner party (no choice with the food) on Saturday night and out for H's birthday on Sunday. I tried to limit the damage but not too sure. I know its only Tuesday but I have been religious yesterday and today so fingers crossed I can maintain until my weigh in on Saturday.

Breakfast : Total 0% yoghurt pot, 50g raspberries, 5g flaked almonds (3sp) with Tassimo Latte Macchiato (2sp)

Lunch : WW recipe - instant noodle jar (5sp) & apple

Dinner : Skinny kitchen secret recipe - Chicken Rendang Curry (7sp) with vegetables. Might have some rice or noodles as I still have quite a few points left.

9pm cup of tea (1sp) and Cadburys Bubbles Mousse (4sp) - thats the plan but might ditch that and use the points on wine Smile

thehoundschicken · 10/01/2017 17:53

Name can you tell me where u got the instant noodle recipe?

poorpaws · 10/01/2017 20:27

Hi Miffy I remember you too, pleased you are back with us. I think this is my third year on this thread 😊 I have a pattern of losing a stone at the beginning of the year, feeling much better about myself and clothes feeling looser, then I give up or yo-yo for months towards the latter part of the year and never actually tackle the second stone I need to lose. I am hoping this year will be different.

Looking forward to reading your progress Miffy.
