First off, I know there's a dedicated area in big/slim/whatever but I'm after traffic as it's a bit quiet in the WW section. Second, I know that 5:2 and low carb are popular on MN but neither of them suit me whereas I've lost weight with WW in the fairly distant past and regained due to unrelated issues which I'll leave out for now. I'm sure there are plenty of opinions on why it doesn't work but for me it does.

Just wondering if anyone is thinking of signing up and would like a support thread over on the WW board. I have at least 4st to lose and would appreciate it. I can't go to meetings as they don't fit in with work, so will be doing it online (half price on the website at the moment and Top Cashback give a few quid back). Anyone in?

Can I join?

Joined WW yesterday. I lost 3 stone last year by myself and put 1 back on so thought I should join a weekly weigh in to keep me on track. Still have around 3.5 stone to lose unfortunately. Started out at 14stone on the button yesterday.

Thought I'd try out smart points as a change from calorie counting but finding it hard so far. Today I had porridge with almond milk and a teaspoon of cashew nut butter (8sp), have a salad with sweet potato, gherkins and tuna with a yoghurt dressing (10sp) and have a vegetable/Lentil Dahl for dinner (11sp). Which is basically all my points for the day but only a little over 800calories which doesn't seem right?

RupertsMum2 · 22/03/2017 12:54

EditEcho how many weekly points do you have. If you divide them by 7 and add in the calories from those and some fruit you would probably be about right calorie wise or work out your calorie intake for the week and divide by 7 to get a better idea.

I lost two pounds last week which was amazing pleasing as I had one awful day when I ate all my daily and weekly points in the evening and then some more. I'm in better control this week but not easy today as Ds3 (10) is off school "unwell" and he just never stops talking. No wonder he has a headache - so have I!

EditEcho · 22/03/2017 13:05

Thanks Ruperts I've added in some fruit. Have 42 weekly points but am working a 12 day stretch so want to have some left for my weekend when I have 2 long days and am on call in between (ie may not have time to cook!).

Well done on weight loss, 2lbs is great in a week!

GiGiraffe · 24/03/2017 12:32

Lost the thread - fell off my watching list. Do WI today - week 10 - lost 7.4lbs (after a gain of 4 last week) so have lost 2 stone since the 4th January. Really happy with that - another 8lbs to go to my healthy BMI and goal weight. Would be happy to that by May (Easter holidays are going to get in the way)

Gingerbreadmam · 24/03/2017 16:29

ooh id love to join. just downloaded the app today and signed up to 3 months online. Even bought some ww scales. Ive never owned scales before!

i have A LOT to loose and can only dream of ever getting to my real target but anything off at the minute is better than nothing

DP and i hope to have a baby. I'm fortunate that i seem to fall easy but yet to have any live dc at the moment. i know weight can play a part in things so to loose some can only be a good thing.

Bring on some lost lbs!

IggyStrop · 24/03/2017 17:16

I'd like to join, too. I've started on Tuesday - I'm hungry! Out of curiosity I added up yesterday's food on MFP and 30 points worth came to just under 1000 calories. That doesn't seem good, right? Isn't that too low?

@Gingerbread Flowers good luck with your weight loss and future pregnancies.

wintersdawn · 24/03/2017 18:16

I joined today having done it once successfully years ago. It's changed a lot since I last did it so need to get my head round it all before food shopping tomorrow.

wintersdawn · 24/03/2017 18:17

Iggystrop don't forget to add the calories from point free foods.

IggyStrop · 24/03/2017 18:45

Thanks winters, I did and that was an extra 100 or so calories. It still seems very low, I wonder if it's sustainable.

wintersdawn · 24/03/2017 19:08

Hmm I'm going to sit and do mine now you've intrigued me.

IggyStrop · 24/03/2017 19:15

Yes, do - I am wondering if I've done something wrong!

I'm thinking I might up my fruit intake, might address the hunger and bump up the calories a bit.

wintersdawn · 24/03/2017 19:32

Ok just done a rough add up as not 100% sure of weights of free foods. But it came in around 1350 for the whole day.
If you are feeling hungry adding salad as a side for dinners works well for me. I'm looking forward to my Friday night pudding treat of a crumbled meringue nest with chopped melon, strawberries and apples only 3 points Smile

EditEcho · 24/03/2017 19:36

Iggy I've found the same some days, but other days 1200-1300 cals for same points. It's all down to the focus on lean protein I think.

5 days done here, have 28 weekly points left and a very long weekend at work so hope it's enough. I've bought a load of fruit and some vegetable crudités, and will make a big chicken salad later. Working over 3 sites so need food that I can grab from my handbag as I travel.

IggyStrop · 24/03/2017 19:37

Interesting, thank you winters maybe I wasn't quite as accurate as I thought I was.

Yeah I think I need to up my vege intake. Adding salad is a good idea.

I have a really sweet tooth though - love the sound of your meringue treat. I need to have a proper look at the WW site for some low point ideas.

I don't find the week too bad, really. It's socialising at the weekend and watching my rake thin DH scoff anything he fancies that I find hard.

IggyStrop · 24/03/2017 19:38

Thank you, Edit. Maybe it'll all even out in the end.

I was kind of hoping someone would tell me I'd need more calories and I could open a bottle of wine!

Gingerbreadmam · 26/03/2017 09:28

i'm doing my first weight watchers shop today, going to have a quick look through the app now but does anyone have any meal ideas?

I'm off work at the min and like a nice savoury filling lunch, i was thinking beans / tomatoes on toast and ryvita type lunches. Are these ok?

If you want a sweet treat is their anything good point wise that is woeth having in?

We shop at aldi so anything aldi and good point wise would be a great recommendation.

I have a generous points allowance, 35 Blush going to get the fitbit charged today and get my steps up too and swim once or twice a week so should get some fit points in there as well.

EditEcho · 26/03/2017 13:52

Ginger haven't checked sweet treat points yet but do let me know if you find something!

I'm just on lunch break, halfway through my long stretch at work (12days); hoping to get out soon. I have 20 weekly points left so was thinking of treating myself tonight- any suggestions?

wintersdawn · 26/03/2017 19:12

I've just discovered that 15g of mini marshmallows is only 3 points. Much needed after a celebration blow out meal out last night that's blown all my weekly points in one go (not a good idea I know but booked before I signed up).

Gingerbreadmam · 26/03/2017 19:25

i know meringues usually come up low dont they? wondering if the whitworth shots will be low points. Not looked but assume they will be.

Rice crispys squares are 6 and i do like those!

im really impressed with the app after having a look today. already helping me to make better choices but im not officially starting until tomo.

EditEcho · 26/03/2017 19:34

Nuts seem to be ridiculously high. Pecan nuts 4sp for 3 individual nuts couldn't be right?!

RupertsMum2 · 27/03/2017 15:09

I was horrified to discover that my favourite Eat Natural bar is 10sp. It's 203 calories so not hugely high. I only have an occasional one, because they're not cheap, but got some from ds1 for Mothers Day and want to eat one but I could have half a bottle of wine for those points.

Gingerbreadmam · 27/03/2017 18:48

i have done sw in the past so its surprising seeing the points of things on ww compated to sw.

i had a meringue nest with frozen berries and half a muller light for 5 points. it was nice but i felt high in points for what it was.

Also made the weight watchers rice pudding. I could have easily eat the whole thing, 6 points per serving and it seeved 4 Blush it's becoming very obvious why i'm so over weight!

EditEcho · 27/03/2017 20:15

It's funny. I'm just sitting down to dinner with total daily use of 21 points. But 1400 calories. Last week I was on 30 points with 900. But willing to see how it goes!

dorothymichaels · 28/03/2017 06:36

Hi everyone. Joining in if that's ok. I lost over 3st with WW before I had my kids. It took 14 years, two pregnancies, and being happy with DH to put it all back on (and more). I'm in the last months of my PhD and I've put on loads recently. Lots of sitting and comfort eating. I've realised I kept putting off trying to lose it, saying, 'it's not the right time'. Well, I'm fat and perimenopausal. If don't do something now I'll never lose the weight and my health will suffer. I'm already having issues with my knees and with IBS.

I'm (sob) 5'8" and start weight was 14st 3lb. Goal weight is 11st 3lb but I'd be happy at the top of my healthy weight nearer 11st 10lb.

I was a bit shocked to find how things had changed on smart points - my treat of a kitkat had changed from 2.5 points to 5! I'm getting used to it now though after a week and a half and a pound off in the first week. I think it'll be a lot slower than last time.

Some tips from me. Elizabeth Shaw mint flutes from Lidl are 1SP each and nice with a cuppa in the evening. Bananas are my go to if feeling really hungry between meals. Lidl crayfish tails are 1SP per pack so I have them with half an avocado (5SP), salad, and a sandwich thin (3SP) for a really filling lunch. Pic attached.

My IBS seems to be loads better from all the extra fibre in my previously crap diet. Feeling really motivated. If I can do a PhD I can lose a couple of stone!

to ask if anyone's interested in a 2017 Weight Watchers thread?
wintersdawn · 28/03/2017 07:29

Dorothy thanks for the crayfish tip, I read the WW magazine yesterday and they've got lobster as being only 1sp so was going to see if Lidl had any of those in today, I'll add crayfish to the list Smile
