So who else is back to the WW routine in January?

I lost weight slowly and steadily on the 'filling and healthy' ww plan last year. Lost 16lbs over 16 weeks and I am back within my gold buffer zone but not quite where I'd like to be yet. Have had a couple of weeks off over christmas but planning to weigh in on Monday at my meeting...which I expecte will be rammed!
I also need to increase the exercise as that waned a bit in December.

Hope to have some company on this board for the new year. What are your aims?

I make terrible soup too, I experiment but the only one I ever get right is butternut squash and courgette! It's lovely though, and zero points. Just peel and chop 1 large butternut squash, and cut into cubes. Chop up 2 courgettes. Then put it all in a big saucepan with 900ml of vegetable stock (2 stock cubes) and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for an hour or so, then blend until smooth, and season if required.

Good luck Soot! I think you're making the right choice, WW is great for learning portion control as well, which I think SW lacks in. I also prefer it because you can eat whatever you like on WW, as long as you point it out. And SW was too much veg for a fussy eater like me!

Missed 1st weigh in as heavy snow here & roads bad plus baby still has active chickenpox. So I've been stuck in all day & snacked all day. Have a week to put this right. Must do better.

GatoradeMeBitch · 14/01/2015 21:35

I want to lose 5 stone if I can. I'm in it for the long haul! I've got my second weigh-in tomorrow, and eating some form of junk food every single day I'm a bit apprehensive. I wish my home scales worked properly! I have stayed within my points though...

Rainicorn · 14/01/2015 21:36

Chicken pox would drive me to chocolate. Hope your little one is well soon.

I am developing a really expensive mango habit. Blush

GingerLemonTea · 14/01/2015 23:39

Thank you Rainicorn.

I prefer soups with 1 pp - where you add potato to thicken it..

my "magic" soup - kids think it cures colds - so it does. Wink

onion, 2 yellow peppers, 4 carrots, 1 potato, 2X chicken (or veg) oxo cubes, 1 teaspoon of olive oil.

"sweat off" the veg in the oil, add potato, oxo and a pint and a half of water. Boil til carrots are really soft and whizz with a stick blender til silky smooth - great hot or cold.

Makes 4 or 5 servings for 4pp in total - so 1pp per serving.

(1 pp oil, 1pp for 2 oxo, 2pp for 100g potato, I put it through the online recipe builder to check overall points)

Hello, Is it telling that I've not been on here and I've GAINED again (put on 1.5 at WI on Monday)
It was DD1's birthday and my neice's so that meant 3 parties, lots of cake hanging round.. crisps... gah! I am just at the edge of my goal buffer zone now so if I put any more on I'll have to pay :(
Back to it though, and making soup sounds like a good plan. In fact, I've remembered it's market day so will get some cheap veggies and coriander in. My favourite is red lentils, sweet potato & carrot. Which is F&H and everyone in the hosue will eat it too.

Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere of which activity devices are compatible with the WW app? I know Fitbit and jawbone are, and I think Garmin but is that any garmin or only specific models? I'd really like to buy one but don't quite want to spend as much as a Fitbit if I don't have to, and I've read bad reviews about jawbone. Just don't want to order one and then find its not compatible. I've looked for ages online but can't find a list of models that work anywhere! Or if atone can recommend a cheapish device that would be great too.

ethelb · 15/01/2015 12:24

Nolongerjustashopgirl it sounds like it does cure colds! I would love something to cure my cough. I missed Zumba last night because I just didn't feel well enough. Will have to get back on the shred bandwagon today though. Is anyone joining the Jillian Michaels thread in a bit though?

Sorry to hear that Miffy, it is a really tough time of year.

GatoradeMeBitch · 15/01/2015 14:08

I had good news at my second meeting - 7lb weight loss! Well, I'm 100% certain I'll never lose that much in a week again! Grin

The weigh-in was before lunch, and that probably affected the result positively! I hope I carry on seeing a downward trend but I do feel I 'got away with it' a bit this first week. I have a lot to lose which I know helps, and all I've done is stay within the points. I haven't really addressed the kind of food I eat. I haven't exercised at all yet either, because I really want to reduce my weight a bit before I go putting pressure on my poor knees!

NoLongerJustAShopGirl · 15/01/2015 14:36

Well done Gator... shows your points are right then if you haven't changed what, but just stayed within them.

The weigh in being before lunch may have accounted for a pound at most though - it would have to be a BIIIIIG lunch to account for much more!!

Mine is a morning meeting and I chose it because I won't be tempted to skip a meal to get a weightloss on a bad week. Everyone used to turn up to evening meetings starving... which only weighs less the first week you do it!!!

ethelb · 15/01/2015 15:10

Well done Gatorade!

GatoradeMeBitch · 15/01/2015 15:50

Thanks! Smile

There was an element of being careful before weigh-in. I had two apples for breakfast and I was definitely peckish at the meeting. I got a hot choc from Costa afterwards (no marshmallows) which isn't the best way to celebrate, but the one thing I'm doing is making sure I stay within the points everyday. It'll be steak and veg for dinner tonight.

GatoradeMeBitch · 15/01/2015 16:45

One thing I don't have yet is a goal weight. Does the group leader decide that or is it an individual thing? I have spaces on my card for 5% weightloss, 10% and then goal weight. It would be nice to know what I'm aiming for!

ethelb · 15/01/2015 17:11

The group leader generally decides them. I'm aiming for 10 percent by the end of the month (just booked my wedding dress appointment on 31 January). But WW generally discourage putting a time frame on your goals. I am being naughty!

Rainicorn · 15/01/2015 17:18

I prefer being weighed in to morning before my stomach is filled.

Well done on the loss Gator.

If you do WW online, they work it out automatically, so I'm going for 5% first. Might not seem much, but it's a hefty chunk for my lard arse.

colleysmill · 15/01/2015 17:23

Well done gator!

I'm on it this week - made the succotash for lunch out of the simple start book and it was delicious. Courgette frittata with salad for tea later.

I'm aiming for a good week and put my gain behind me :)

Rainicorn · 15/01/2015 18:30

Is anyone still eating their way through Christmas stuff? IVe got a few boxes of biscuits left, eating some as they're mocking me, but pointing them as well. Can't wait till they're all gone.

pinkstinks · 15/01/2015 20:31

I've only lost 1lb this week and I've tried so hard :( been to six classes including 2 insanity. I'm finding it hard without having a goal weight and the leader is not the best she said it's because I've lost so much that it's slowing down (64.5lbs) but I want to lose much more 6stone by April. Gah what a day!

BitOutOfPractice · 15/01/2015 21:39

pinkstinks don't be disheartened - you've done so well!

How many PPs in a fun size mars? Blush

hevs10593 · 15/01/2015 21:56

I've just made a giant chocolate cake for my other half birthday tomorrow and I didn't hesitate on tasting sampling the mix and the chocolate topping (obvious just to make sure it tasted okay Grin )We're also going out for tea!

SomewhereIBelong · 16/01/2015 07:32

pink - 64.5lbs is amazing - and you still got rid of a pound this week!! well done

Pinksticks that's incredible!

Planning on making soup today- got mixed Mediterranean roasted veg, carrot and sweet potato to cook and blend together with whatever herbs and spices I can dig out of the cupboard!

Weighing in for the first time in the morning so will be eating light today, just had a big bowl of porridge to keep me going, will be having soup for lunch and an omelette for dinner- I'm thinking ham tomato onion peppers. So filling but light.

Just want to get weigh in over and done with!

Rainicorn · 16/01/2015 11:05

Pink, you've lost an amazing amount, don't be disheartened. Do you eat your weeklies as well?

I'm getting a Chinese takeaway tonight. What's the best thing to get?
