So who else is back to the WW routine in January?

I lost weight slowly and steadily on the 'filling and healthy' ww plan last year. Lost 16lbs over 16 weeks and I am back within my gold buffer zone but not quite where I'd like to be yet. Have had a couple of weeks off over christmas but planning to weigh in on Monday at my meeting...which I expecte will be rammed!
I also need to increase the exercise as that waned a bit in December.

Hope to have some company on this board for the new year. What are your aims?

Hi everyone! I'm new to WW, and had my first meeting last Thursday. What I haven't done really is read through everything so I'm not really clear on the options. I've been given 37 points a week, then the 49. I think I will have used them all up by the next meeting this week. I'm concerned I won't lose anything. My scales seem to be pointing to a 2 pound loss, but I feel I've eaten too much for that to be genuine iyswim? I feel like the nachos and pizza I had on Sunday are going to bite me on the arse any minute now!
I'm jotting down all the snack suggestions - I'm missing chocolate, so I think I'll buy those M&S mousse pots tomorrow!

Before Christmas I was 2lb under goal and aimed to get rid of another 2lb. After Christmas I'm 1lb under goal but have started to exercise to tone up but ive noticed the lbs are now not coming off as easy. Could this be because I'm exercising? I don't track activity points so I don't eat over my 26 even when I've exercised. Any advice?

colleysmill · 13/01/2015 07:32

hev the way I've always understood it is that whilst a pound of muscle will always weigh the same as a pound of fat, muscle has a smaller mass than fat so will give you less inches and a more toned appearance . muscle will also give the body a better opportunity to burn off additional calories.

I know tend to find if I up the exercise ( and keep going at it - consistently which is where I tend to fall down!!!) I lose inches at first and then find losing weight easier after a few weeks. I would maybe try and keep a record of your measurements to see if you notice change there.

I think that's right -if not I'm sure someone will correct me!

Rainicorn · 13/01/2015 09:58

Gatorade, you have same point allowance to me. I do feel some days I've eaten loads and still have points left over so don't worry.

Chocolate, mini heroes/celebrations type chocs only have 1pp each, great for a choc fix. Fun sized chocs also have 2-3pp depending on the choc and I think full sized curly wurlys have a low pp

hevs10593 · 13/01/2015 16:22

Thanks colleysmill I'll keep at it and see what happens! I'm trying to keep in mind that I'm still doing good and toning it's just annoying to see the last 3lb won't budge!!

colleysmill · 13/01/2015 19:54

Oh for heavens sake I put on a pound!!!!

GatoradeMeBitch · 13/01/2015 21:53

Rainicorn It does seem a lot doesn't it? I suppose we get fewer points as we get closer to goal weight, is that how it works?

I feel quite bad because I'm relying on convenience food quite heavily, in my first week, the week my motivation should be at its highest! But I'm going to try and make the turkey and bacon burgers tomorrow.

hevs10593 · 14/01/2015 06:50

I stick to 26pp a day and rarely dip into my weeklies! I think its too much! I also eat a lot of the hairy bikers recipes which are good!

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 14/01/2015 07:33

Well that is me scuppered. I went away last night for work - in a hotel until Friday. In the middle of nowhere so can't get food except at conference and hotel restaurant. I've decided to give up pointing until I'm back.
One of my problems is that in these situations I have a fear of getting hungry - my belly can do the loudest thunderclap rumbles too and they are very embarrassing.
I tried to pick healthy choices at breakfast - very pleased I managed to avoid the pastries, cheeses and individual portions of chocolate spread at the buffet! But then I still realised that if I'd pointed it, what I ate would've been loads more points than a normal breakfast.
Gah - can't believe I'm feeling scuppered in week 2! Still, I'm going to focus on the positive - I avoided starters and mains AND wine last night at dinner. And I only ate half the delicious bread roll they provided. And I nabbed an extra apple and banana in case they only offer biscuits or pastries at the coffee break!
I WILL do this!

NoLongerJustAShopGirl · 14/01/2015 12:45

woohoo 2.5lb down! (49.5 to go.... )

and am over the moon to discover that M+S count on us fish pie is only 8 points!! Could live off that one thing for life.

ethelb · 14/01/2015 13:20

Hevs are the Hairy Biker recipes pointed?

Miffy it is really hard sticking to WW when you go away for work. And people arent particuarly sympathetic as hey, its a free meal and a night in a hotel. Does the hotel havea gym?

Well done nolonger!

Rainicorn · 14/01/2015 14:47

Oh no Colley! Any chance you're due on? Might be water retention. Don't give up.

Going away with work and free food is a killer with any diet. Well done for resisting so far. I'd have caved with unlimited croissants if they had them.

I was debating buying the hairy bikers book, I've seen a few of their recipes and they look lovely. How do they point?

If you're struggling to lose Hev, maybe way all your weeklies. Your body might need a reboot and those extra points might help.

INeverFinishAnythi · 14/01/2015 14:51

Hi everyone, been doing WW properly since August (and halfheartedly for about a year before that!) and have lost 1 pound short of 2 stone. Am only 2lb off the goal weight set in my meeting (4lb off MY goal but leader didn't want me to put it any lower Confused ) Got a meeting tonight but will either have stayed the same or a tiny gain I think, these last couple of lb just don't want to go! I'm dying to start exercising (30 day shred - I love it!) but want to get to goal first as I find although my shape changes when exercising, my weight doesn't and I really want to get to goal so I can stop paying so much money every month. I've been really focused until now but starting to get a bit frustrated.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 14/01/2015 16:37

hevs you need to give me tips - I really struggle to stick within my 26pp, even though I was able to stick to my daily points with the older version of points.
Bad luck, colleys - unless you really ate loads last week, I bet you lose lots next week!
Well done, NoLonger and good luck tonight, INever!

hevs10593 · 14/01/2015 16:44

I found the points online and wrote them in the books I have all 3. You just have to be careful with portion sizes as some dishes serve 6 but if there's only 4 of you you've either got to have a smaller portion or work out the points accordingly.

I got the points of the new book from here: 59lbstogo.blogspot.ie/2014/10/hairy-dieters-take-three.html?m=1
The other books should be on the same blog. my fave is the sausage and onion gravy from book 1 or 2, not particularly a diet meal but yummy!!

hevs10593 · 14/01/2015 17:04

A typical day for me looks like this:

Breakfast:
Melon=0
Bran 30g with milk=5

Dinner
WW wrap or pitta=3
50g prawns=1
10g mayo=2

Tea: (I've just eaten..)
Chicken stew=6

And I've allowed 1/4pint of semi skim milk=2

I've had a low day today but I sometimes have nuts, yogurt, strawberries and peaches/jelly for snacks.

NoLongerJustAShopGirl · 14/01/2015 17:40

that sounds really low to me hevs - only 19points

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 14/01/2015 18:14

Blimey that would just NOT fill me up! But if it works for you...

I think I've realised I need a bigger breakfast or else I'm desperate to nibble all morning. Eggs are my new breakfast plan - lowish points but filling.

Thanks for the blog link - I love ready-pointed recipes! Anyone else have blog recommendations? I used to like the Neurotic Glamour Girl one but she seems to have taken most of her posts down (the before and after shots are amazing though!)

Rainicorn · 14/01/2015 18:39

There is your problem then hevs, you're not eating enough. As I said up thread, try eating your weeklies for one week, it'll give your body a boost and often works.

hevs10593 · 14/01/2015 18:40

Ive got some spare points for a decent treat then! I had some dark chocolate today that I've forgotten to point and a chocolate mouse after tea 3pp so I'm not far under my 26 really

INeverFinishAnythi · 14/01/2015 19:32

Thanks Miffy! Am home now, as I only go to get weighed. Have never stayed for the meeting as I always have DS with me. I stayed the same! So not too bad. Wish this last two pounds would bugger off though.

I'm on 26 points a day as well, and a typical day for me is:

Breakfast:
1 carrot, peeled and chopped (0pp)
1 small apple (0pp)
1 can of diet fizzy drink, usually 7up Zero (0pp)
1 Rice Krispies Cereal and Milk Bar (2pp)

Lunch:
WW Zero point soup (homemade) usually butternut squash and courgette (0pp)
1 Brown Warburtons Thin (3pp) with one slice of ham (1pp), 20g of low fat grated cheese (1pp), 30g of reduced fat cream cheese (instead of butter) (1pp) and cucumber (0pp)
1 packet of crisps, usually Walkers Baked or Wotsits (3pp)

Dinner:
Some sort of ready meal or pittas with smoked salmon and low fat cream cheese, or homemade pitta pizzas, or I follow a WW recipe - the cheeseburgers are fantastic! This usually leaves me 3 points left, for either a WW chocolate mousse or a curly wurly.

I hardly ever feel hungry on the above, as I spread the breakfast bits out and fill up on soup before I eat the sandwich for lunch. I also drink tons of water (am fortunate to hate tea and coffee so no points wasted on milk!) I don't often use all 49 weekly points but they're generally spent on a meal out or a few gins - more often the gin! I always have diet mixer so not too many points wasted, and only drink if I go out or have friends over, which is never more than once a week.

colleysmill · 14/01/2015 20:23

Thanks everyone I do believe it might have been the few five pints I had in the pub on Sunday afternoon that upskittled everything so only myself to blame!! Grin

I've been running tonight and plan to go at least twice more before next week so hopefully a better week next week

colleysmill · 14/01/2015 20:24

Gah massive strikeout fail on the five-

Sootball · 14/01/2015 20:29

I'm about to sign up to WW after making the decision to choose it over SW.

Have 4 stone exactly to lose after 2 children and complications after surgery.

Rainicorn · 14/01/2015 20:58

Good luck Soot.

I've been buying Asda wholewheat pasta and chicken tikka salad for a quick lunch, there very tasty and filling and 8 pp.

DH and I had some vouchers for GBK so we went for lunch today. Didn't totally blow my points, but was close.

I want to make myself some 0pp soups, but crap at making soup. Any tips?
