So who else is back to the WW routine in January?

I lost weight slowly and steadily on the 'filling and healthy' ww plan last year. Lost 16lbs over 16 weeks and I am back within my gold buffer zone but not quite where I'd like to be yet. Have had a couple of weeks off over christmas but planning to weigh in on Monday at my meeting...which I expecte will be rammed!
I also need to increase the exercise as that waned a bit in December.

Hope to have some company on this board for the new year. What are your aims?

Hello Dotty I also work from home and found it difficult at first but now make it work to my advantage. I have a cooked breakfast every morning which I couldn't do at work, and have great big salads or open sandwiches/topped Ryvita which were too messy for work! I also have more time to get a healthy ww friendly dinner on to as I do the prep at lunch time.
As I don't commute I finish work at a predetermined time and do an exercise DVD to signal the 'end' of my day. I think you need to find a routine that works for you and it took me a while. I put on 5lb in the first 2 months of working from home despite exercising more so do realise that is hard.

dotty2 · 27/02/2015 12:28

Thanks Ethel. I agree working from home should be to my advantage. I already do lots of exercise during the day and it's great to be able to swim at lunchtime when it's quieter, run in the light even in winter etc. And I have just had scrambled eggs on ryvita, with loads of crunchy veg on the side, which I couldn't do easily in an office. I just need to can the secret biscuit eating. It's just a mindset thing - I honestly prefer a handful of grapes or some crunchy veg to a biscuit, but sometimes just get in a terrible rut of craving stuff I know is no good for me. Anyway - off to a positive start, and I know I need to be pleased with every little babystep!

hevs10593 · 27/02/2015 12:39

Dotty you sound like me, I love biscuits and after a big blow out last week I have managed to stay clear for a full week! I much prefer snacking on grapes and blueberries and fruit I just don't know what it is about biscuits but I need to cut it out completely because 'moderation' doesn't happen. I am worried though that my diet is high sugar with all this fruit but I supposed it's natural and not refined sugar?

dotty2 · 27/02/2015 13:25

Mmm - yes, I guess in an ideal world you would probably replace some of the fruit with veg, or try to eat some protein with it. And I do wonder if that's a flaw in the WW plan, that fruit is unlimited.

But berries are much lower sugar than other fruits. I think a bad legacy for me of low carbing was ending up with the idea that a handful of salted peanuts or a square of very dark chocolate was a better snack than an apple, and that got me out of the fruit habit. Looking forward to getting back into it!

We went out to lunch today. The cafe was huge and busy. DH went up to order and I went to find a table. Took my coat off and sat down. DH came over with our food and I could tell he hadn't spotted me. Then he was looking straight at me but still couldn't see me. Then I saw the penny drop and he came and sat down. He said that he saw me but didn't recognise me because of the weight I've lost. Grin

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 01/03/2015 05:15

Ooh Hedgehogs!

Well another half pound off yesterday saw me hitting the silver seven (do they still call it that? I'm doing ww online).

I also work from home - it certainly means I can snack more but also eat healthier snacks and lunches. But before ww it was clear that the loneliness of working from home in a place where I don't know anyone meant I comfort ate during the day a lot.

HedgehogsDontBite · 01/03/2015 09:33

0.7 kg this week. I feel a bit sad it's not more but all pleased to have lost as it's first weigh in since my weekend away

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 01/03/2015 09:52

0.7kg is fantastic - well done! I wish had lost that much!

SomewhereIBelong · 01/03/2015 09:53

Well done all! It is nice when people have to look twice to see if it is you!

I went clothes shopping and realised I went from a size 22 to a size 20 this week, so I am chuffed!!

(job wise They asked me to start after my trial day- no thanks - it was pants - really really pants - I was so disappointed - they want a skivvy who will work ALL the time - 2 days a week PAHHHHH.... I was there a whole hour before they asked me to do 12 days on the trot. If they want full time they should not say it is a 2-3 day a week role!)

Fudgeface123 · 02/03/2015 11:11

Well I'm pleased to report a 6 lbs loss for my first week back on track, that was a mixture of PP and F&H and I used every last one of my weeklies Smile

Here's to another good week

dotty2 · 02/03/2015 11:23

Well done, fudgeface. I just did my first weigh in and have lost 7lb in the first week. I know that's not all real loss, as my period started the day after I weighed myself last week, and that it all slows down after here - but still, it's nice to see

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 02/03/2015 11:24

Wow! well done. I had lost 1kg on Saturday . We went out for dinner. On Sunday I had gained a kilo. Ok, I had cheese plate, but no way can one meal result in a 2 kg gain.Shock Shock I am blaming water retention.

Fudgeface123 · 02/03/2015 11:51

Great result too Dotty

SomewhereIBelong · 02/03/2015 11:54

WOW! some big losses, well done

I think they have made fruit unlimited because it is hard to eat as much fruit as other types of sugar - 5 apples=one mars bar calorie wise - I'd find it hard to eat 5 apples - but incredibly easy to eat a mars bar.

HedgehogsDontBite · 02/03/2015 12:16

I'd find it incredibly easy to eat 5 mars bars Blush

Well done on the amazing weight loss Fudge and Dotty.

ChillySundays · 02/03/2015 21:49

Penguin - same thing happened to be after going out on Saturday. Disheartening. Lost 2lb the first week and then put a 1lb on this week

Doing it online and bit pissed off that you can't put 1/2lbs when recording your weight.

Good luck to everyone

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 02/03/2015 21:53

Can't you? You can do kilos to 0.1 kg

ChillySundays · 02/03/2015 23:10

Can't seem to do with stones and pounds

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 03/03/2015 08:25

Yeay. Back to within 0.2 of what I weighed on Friday. 0.8kg off this week. Smile

SomewhereIBelong · 03/03/2015 10:11

I track online using esource and use the esource weight tracker too - you can put 0.5lb in there - I was 15st8.5lb last week
( looking like it may be 15 7 for tomorrow... we need a fingers crossed smiley)

ChillySundays · 03/03/2015 13:17

Thanks Somewhere. I am obviously being incredibly dim!

Fingers crossed for you

colleysmill · 03/03/2015 19:31

Hello everyone I'm back again.

February was a bit rubbish and I only made two meetings (last one i gained half a pound) but I went back today. Amazingly a pound off from my last weigh in two weeks ago Shock

Back on plan again this week although my mat leave finishes and I'm back at work in one week so I need to have some strategies in place to avoid the work biscuit tin. This week i need to go and buy some new clothes for work as nothing fits me anymore!

Pinkjenny · 04/03/2015 07:41

It's a million years since I was on Mumsnet, but wanted to join this group as I started WW last night. Have pretty much tried every diet in the stratosphere, but need something that encourages me to generally eat less. SW is great, and I have used it successfully in the past, but I need to try to control portion sizes, which doesn't fit with SW. So, here I am. Will read over the thread tonight as I'm off to work now, but any tips would be greatly appreciated. I've got about 2 stone to lose.

Miffytastic · 04/03/2015 14:33

Waves at Dotty2 hello! how's life as Dr Dotty? guess what I'm still bloody doing mine :( on the real crunch time to submission now and hating it, but trying to keep away from the biscuit-as-reward thing when WAH. Although I have had a party ring this afternoon with a cuppa (1ppt) Your 7lbs off is amazing!

I lost 1/2 lb this week - feeling rather plateaued and hovering on the border of my goal+5lb figure, so really could do with losing 7lbs at the moment. Haven't been running for a while due to being poorly so I reckon just doing that would help. Gah, motivation is hard for everything at the moment.

Sorry for my silence, been mega busy.

A bit disheartened as STS this week and didn't go off plan, didn't use all my weeklies either. Still, keep on going.

I have PCOS so my weight does tend to cling to me. Hopefully have a loss this week.
