So who else is back to the WW routine in January?

I lost weight slowly and steadily on the 'filling and healthy' ww plan last year. Lost 16lbs over 16 weeks and I am back within my gold buffer zone but not quite where I'd like to be yet. Have had a couple of weeks off over christmas but planning to weigh in on Monday at my meeting...which I expecte will be rammed!
I also need to increase the exercise as that waned a bit in December.

Hope to have some company on this board for the new year. What are your aims?

Hello all, fell off the thread.

Delighted to report a 2lb loss this week which means I got my third silver 7 and my 10%! I am chuffed to bits Grin

SomewhereIBelong · 18/02/2015 08:43

Well done Faith - 10% is a great checkpoint to reach health wise... will be a while before I get there - especially after 16 points of lush homemade pancakes (4) last night!!! But OMG it was worth it!

Not going to weighing in this week due to half term and a house of kids - it is tooooo tempting to stray though, so won't be skipping weigh in again if I can help it!

colleysmill · 18/02/2015 11:56

Well I've put half a pound on!

But actually I'm not too disappointed - every 5-6 weeks I seem to gain a bit and then lose it and I've not been particularly strict this week. I've definitely lost inches though - I tried some other jeans on last night to go out in that have always been tight and they were looking a bit big. And overall I'm the lightest I've been in 10 years - I don't recognise my reflection in shop windows anymore.

Back on it today though!

Rainicorn · 18/02/2015 12:53

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who fell off the wagon last week. Mine was a 4 day food bender. I'm an emotional, eater, stressed and ate what the hell I wanted including 4 packets of monster munch in one sitting

Back on track this week, despite it being half term and my MIL being uber demanding.

My annoyance for this week. I have been eating M&S individual packets of popcorn as a snack, 2PP each for 15g. I bought a 20g packet of propercorn popcorn when I was out yesterday as a snack, rather than a packet of crisps, and there was also 2PP in that and so much more. I've been denying myself 5 extra grams, and it's so filling as well Grin.

Kirucait · 18/02/2015 17:41

Hi all!!
Can I join this thread? I joined ww online for the 2nd time on Jan 13th (I'm in France and groups are at times when I have my 3 kids and I'm a single mum with no support).

I stopped smoking 2 years ago, piled on more than 20kgs and went up to 121kgs! I joined ww online last jan and lost 14kgs (2 stone) but gave up after my first 3 months membership was over. I started smoking again in the summer (d'oh!!) but randomly decided to give up smoking again on jan 5th. Didn't want to pile on more weight but was in denial about how much of put on after I dropped ww last yr but on jan 13th I decided to join again. Start weight 115kgs so I'm still lighter than I was a yr ago Smile. Weight at last Friday's weigh-in was 108.9 so 6kg loss (just over 13lbs). This week I've been on plan and have gained half a kg! Weigh in not until Friday really but so disappointed!!

10 days ago I went to my pharmacy and a nutritionist works there. She advised low carb high protein and sold me a yucky protein supplement to boost protein. Since I've been doing that ive gained not lost so today I've said sod it and dropped the extra protein (already eat eggs and a lot of lean meat). She also told me that cheese is a diets worst enemy so I stopped eating any but today thought sod it I'm having cheese and marmite sandwiches for tea! I was reading on Google that too much protein for some people impeeds weight loss. Figures I'd be one of those people!

Big portion sizes are my huge down fall. I don't snack or eat between meals, I don't eat chocolate or biscuits or crisps though when I think back to how I put all the weight on I was eating redicilous amounts of anything! Shock I don't exercise apart from running around after my kids. I'd love to go swimming but my stupid pool is only open during school closing times before school, at lunch and after school!! So stupid.

I've been really good since I rejoined and I'm hoping discounting the nutritionists advice will add up to a small loss or even maintain on Friday. I actually think I've been over pointing everything... I make our meals from scratch (I love my slow cooker!) and have been adding all the ingredients separately to the app. I only discovered after reading this whole thread that you can add your recipes online and divide them up into parts. My daily allowance is 36 points and I've been aiming for 26 but over pointing! I use my weeklies for champagne at the weekend.... I really cant go without my champagne (advantage of living in France is that it's cheap!)

Wow that was practically a novel!!

Kirucait · 18/02/2015 17:45

Oh and I've told no one that I'm back on ww as last year everyone was asking me how much I'd lost and wanting to see my exceedingly saggy belly to check for progress. I found the pressure and sometimes negativity depressing so when I stopped I lied and said it was too expensive!

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 18/02/2015 17:55

emotional eater you say, Rainicorn? I'm in that club too!
I've been so rubbish at updating on here. I cannot type on my phone (fat fingers?) and don't seem to get the time to go on my computer.
Well after some ups and downs (including my cheese-fest weekend in France), I went off the rails and gave up pointing for a week. Stayed the same (I was still trying to eat 'weightwatchers style', but just didn't track). But now sneaky daily peeks suggest I'm losing so I'm really trying to stick to it this week.
Very hard when I have emotional days and just want to stuff my face. Or when I haven't planned well and we end up having a pasta tea (which was pasta heavy, veg light and without much low point food to fill me up).

FixItUp I LOVE the idea of an 'eat whatever' day every couple of months - think that could help me not feel deprived. And also means that because you've planned it, it doesn't have the 'derailment' effect that it would otherwise (can you tell I've just watched the Horizon programmes?)

Sorry to those who are finding it hard right now - totally sympathise. But we can do this!

Rainicorn · 18/02/2015 18:32

Welcome Kuricait. Well done on the loss so far.

Had spaghetti bolognese tonight with garlic bread, all pointed. I'm stuffed. If anything, I think I have successfully reduced my portion sizing just since doing this from January.

When I was off track at the weekend, I got one of those M&S Valentine's Day meals, starter was scallops and pee purée, main was beef wellington, chips and peas and pud was millionaires shortbread pudding. I was absolutely stuffed afterwards, was quite greedy to stuff the pudding down really. Before I'd probably have eaten DHs pud as well.

emsyj · 18/02/2015 18:38

Can I join?? I'm back on WW yet again - after last time swearing I would never bother with it again!! I am really fed up with overeating and being fat so something has to change. I would like to lose 2/2.5 stones which would take me to bang in the middle of the healthy range for my height.

I think I failed last time due to lack of planning and organisation. I did WW with great success nearly 10 years ago and kept most of the weight off for several years (until I got pregnant). Back then I used to write down what I was going to have for every meal for the whole upcoming week and I think that worked for me, so this time I have bought the journal and have planned all my meals. Fingers crossed I get to the finish line this time!!
Smile

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 18/02/2015 20:47

Hi emsyj.

I am struggling. I gained this week. I am beginning to think I need to ditch the 7 bfing points ( even though I still am at least three times in the say and six million about 5 times at night. )

Also struggling with lunches since the kids like sandwiches, cheese on toast etc. Any good ideas out there.

Well done the losers. Smile

Twinklestar2 · 18/02/2015 23:10

Welcome back all the strayers and hello to the newbies Grin

Penguin - I have boiled eggs and sandwich thins for lunch most days.

hevs10593 · 19/02/2015 08:51

Well yesterday was defo my 'I'm going to eat whatever I want day' tea included an all you can eat buffet and I've never felt so stuffed! I actually felt sick and don't want to feel like that again which has motivated me to get back on track today! I defo think I need a once a month splurge tho, a day to eat the things you crave! I'm also giving up chocolate digestives for lent, I'm not particularly religious but I know people who are so I feel if I tell them I'm more likely to stick with it.. Its worth a try, other than hire and pay someone to knock them out of my hand!

Rainicorn · 19/02/2015 09:01

Be careful what you give up for lent. I gave up crisps one yesr and got pregnant as a result (after being told could never conceive naturally) Wink

Penguins, I struggle for lunches when dc are off school as they like similar. I've been buying salads from Asda (2 for £3) and they range from 4-8 PP and have some popcorn as well.

Kirucait · 19/02/2015 09:07

Well official weigh-in isn't until tomorrow but I'm a compulsive weigher so I weighed this morning and had a massive 1.5kg drop from yesterday. Wondered what on earth was going on, then randomly my period showed up this morning (11 days early!!) so I'm assuming my lack of loss until today was due to TOTM! Looking forwards to weighin tomorrow now Smile

Slow cooked chilli and boiled rice for lunch today and probably cheese sandwiches for tea tonight. All pointed up and ready (I meal plan) and am on 27 points.

hevs I like the idea of a once a month splurge!

Kirucait · 19/02/2015 09:16

penguins we always have a cooked lunch and the kids have sandwiches for tea. If I'm not going to have a sandwich with them I make myself cook a couple of eggs (hard boiled in salad, omelette, scrambled with chives), or bacon pieces with garlic and basil courgettes. I alway eat before them (in the evenings) so it's easier to resist pinching stuff off their plates

SomewhereIBelong · 19/02/2015 09:48

WW crackers (4 thin wheaty crackers which actually taste really nice) with laughing cow light cheese spread - and salad/pickles etc makes a nice lunch for 3 pp

Also a whole 400g tin of Heinz Scotch broth is only 4 .pp - find that one really filling with all the chunky veg and pearl barley.

and eggs - poached egg on toast for 4pp or veg omelette - 2 x eggs, loads of broccoli, carrots, green beans, mushrooms, onions, leeks etc - 4 points - served with a big salad makes a good main meal for a "light" day too....

Fudgeface123 · 19/02/2015 11:29

Hi,

It is too late for me to join this thread? I'm going back to meetings tonight after gaining quite a bit, lost my dad recently, have been on steroids for chest problems. I have around 7 stone to lose (gulp) and really need the support so hoping it's OK for me to join in

HedgehogsDontBite · 19/02/2015 14:41

Welcome Fudge. I have about the same to lose so don't feel too bad. I can't even contemplate how much I have to go it's so far away.

I had a very strange experience today. I went to the
Thai buffet for lunch after seeing my therapist (for PTSD). I knew it was a bad idea, unlimited buffet Shock. But I couldn't stop myself going. I had a smallish selection as normal, so I could then go back and get more of the one I liked. Except I felt full from that small selection. I sat there for half an hour waiting for the 'hunger' to kick in or the compulsion to get my money's worth to take over, as they usually do. But no, nothing. Something inside me appears to have changed and it feels very alien to me (although I hope to god it stays).

Fudgeface123 · 19/02/2015 15:29

I've been a bit bad today, last supper before first meeting Grin so hopefully it out of my system now.

That's a good result then Hedge, I think we all have a 'seen the light' moment but yours came naturally which is a result

hevs10593 · 19/02/2015 17:21

Wish I had that feeling when I was at the all you can eat buffet yesterday!! I needed to get it out of my system though so I could move on and get back on track! I've been good today though!

HedgehogsDontBite · 20/02/2015 08:35

Doing my weigh in early this week as I'm away this weekend. I lost 1kg so I'm pleased.

Sadly my new found eating control may in fact just be temporary and down to some bug nasty. I woke this morning feeling rough.

Fudgeface123 · 20/02/2015 10:22

Well done on your loss HHDB. Well I went to meetings and I'm almost the heaviest I've ever been at 16'4. I really need to stick at this, I'm 41 and have already ruined my 20's and 30's by being a fatster so I really need to knuckle down Sad

Rainicorn · 20/02/2015 16:32

Fudge, you need to change your name. I keep thinking of thick fudge chocolate cake whenever I see it. Grin

Good few days so far. Weekend yet to come though eek.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 20/02/2015 19:20

Welcome Fudge - you can do this!

And congratulations on the 'all you can eat' experience, Hedgehogs - that's amazing! Hope you're feeling better soon though (and that your restraint wasn't temporary).

I've got weigh-in tomorrow - I've been very good this week and only used a few weeklies. Really hoping for a good loss. We'll see.

Feeling like a 'blow out' day may be looming but I don't think I should as I didn't track last week and stayed the same, so I think I should wait a few more weeks before any more naughtiness.

emsyj · 20/02/2015 22:17

In case anyone is interested, I've just had the 'Filling & Healthy' Moussaka from the set of recipe cards and it was really delicious. I thought the quark and fromage frais topping looked a bit odd but once it had done its marathon 45 mins in the oven it looked great and tasted just as nice as 'real' moussaka.
