WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Janie the app is called 'Value Diary'
disco we were told it was fine to go straight to points if that's what you prefer or have done before. The SS is supposed to just be a simple kick start.

KosherBacon · 13/02/2014 22:11

To be honest I think SS is a bit of a com to stop people coming for one class, getting all the material and then never coming back again. Using simple start they hook you in for 3 weeks at least before you get all the bumph.

Disco- I could but my scales are a bit iffy and so I only want to weigh in at class.

Fluffy- good luck for tomorrow.

trainersandaches · 13/02/2014 22:22

Kosher oh god you are right! I bet the drop out after one week is mega high!

fluffydressinggown · 14/02/2014 12:33

I am another one going on holiday in June, we will all be looking amazing :)

I think Simple Start is good to start off with but I found it so restrictive and feel better counting points. Still feel like I eat loads but I am losing weight so it must be working.

I got weighed this morning and I have lost 2lb which brings my total weight loss to 8lb, I got my shiny 7 sticker :)

Discoflame · 14/02/2014 13:09

Thanks everyone, I think I am just going to move to counting points! I actually feel I eat too little on SS and will feel way more in control counting the points! First day over with and it wasn't too bad, problem is after DD is in bed I'm used to cracking open the chocolate and I really struggled with not doing that last night! Just need to break the habbit!

I'm finding starting this all so overwhelming, just the thought of how long it will take is kinda making me down. But then I think well if I did nothing I'd only get heavier so thats worse and hopefully it will only be 3 months out my life!

Well done Fluffy thats fab!! 8lb is great!

fluffydressinggown · 14/02/2014 16:38

I think the first week or so is the hardest because you have to adjust to eating more healthily.

I have found it gets easier because I have more of a sense of what is healthy and low in points.

If you want a chocolate fix I would recommend the WW branded snacks (bicuits, cake bars etc), they are all 2pp and taste really nice.

SuperDuperJezebel · 15/02/2014 22:42

Hi, can I join in? I've been WW-ing since mid April, have lost 88lb so far, but feel like I'm stuck in a bit of a rut/slipping a bit, and feel like I could use some inspiration!

HalleLouja · 16/02/2014 07:30

Chicken Bhuna was lovely.

Does anyone have any recipes for nice meat balls. Am making some today.

Chewbecca · 16/02/2014 08:44

Do you have the Hairy Dieters book Halle?
They have an Italian meatball with chunky tomato sauce recipe that looks good. Someone has helpfully typed it out here

I'm doing the masala chicken from the same book today, hence was fresh in my mind! With cumin roasted vegetables. I regretted deciding to do the chicken yesterday when I realised there was a bit of butchery involved the previous day but am glad now as my chicken is sitting happily marinating in the fridge & there's minimal effort today.

I have bought new batteries for my bathroom scales so will start weighin again at home now & see if I can achieve losses without the class shame factor.

HalleLouja · 16/02/2014 09:12

Have both HD books will have a look.

The recipes are usually good.

KosherBacon · 16/02/2014 09:38

Well done Fluffy.

SuperDuper Welcome! That is inspirational weight loss. How much have you got to lose before getting to your goal

Halle don't forget to check out here for the points in the hairy bikers books 59lbstogo.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/hairy-dieters-propointed.html?m=1

Well I am plodding along. I made BBQ brisket in the slow cooker. I used a really lean but if brisket and then made a BBQ sauce with low sugar ketchup, passata, soft brown sugar, onion, garlic, red wine vinegar, smoked paprika and a load of other stuff. It was delish and the sauce was 2pp and the meat 6pp. I sautéed loads of onions and red peppers and we had it stuffed in sandwiches. DH definitely approved of the diet food!

I am off this week so need to really stuck to my guns and step away from the fridge. I am really hoping for a good weight loss on Wednesday as it will be 2 weeks since I got on the scales.

SuperDuperJezebel · 16/02/2014 09:49

Thanks! I am about 27lb away from the top of my healthy range so I am aiming for that, and then I'll see how I get on from there. I've been practically perfect for the last 9 no but this week has seen me shovelling random bits of leftover kids food in my mouth almost constantly. Need to get a grip! Don't want a gain at weigh in tomorrow but if I do, I'll know I deserved it.

Definitely recommend the hairy dieters books too, I love them.

HalleLouja · 16/02/2014 10:57

Thanks kosher I am still SS with 49 extra points. Though tempted to try points. Could do it today.

HalleLouja · 16/02/2014 10:59

These look good and I have beef here.

fluffydressinggown · 16/02/2014 11:01

Well done on your amazing weight loss superduper

The BBQ brisket sounds really nice, I might have to try that. I will also investigate the Hairy Dieters book.

I have a very social week ahead and I am stressing about sticking to WW while eating out so much this week.

trainersandaches · 16/02/2014 20:00

Has anyone else struggled with not having the app this weekend? Kinda dreading weigh in tomorrow!

KosherBacon · 16/02/2014 21:24

No, mine has been working all weekend. I did see other people's posts about problems with it though.

moonbells · 16/02/2014 21:50

Only a lb gone this week. I blame the chocolate fudge cake last Tuesday! [oops] I was expecting a slowdown after the crazy start, but it's still going in the right direction and I've lost 13lb total so far.

Wow SuperDuper 88lbs is brilliant - way to go. I hope I have that much willpower!

GeorgieWilson · 16/02/2014 23:15

Hi. Can I join? Originally joined ww in September then stopped going, re-joined in January. Down 14 pounds so far (baby weight, he's 7 months), but struggled recently - gained 1 pound over the previous 3 weeks due to lack of motivation. Been really good this week so hoping it shows on the scales on Wednesday.
Motivation is fitting into my work clothes when I go back in mid April and a spa day with DP, DB and recently very slimmed down DSIL for which a bikini would be lovely (currently can't contemplate even the thought of wearing one)
Everyone seems to be doing so well on here - some yum recipes too

KosherBacon · 17/02/2014 07:28

Moonbells- 1lb is perfect and classed as healthy weight loss. Well done and only 1lb to go until you've lost your first stone!

Georgie- congrats on losing a stone and welcome. I hope we can motivate you and keep you focused. Are you still on maternity leave? I found it so hard while I was off. Too much coffee and cake.

Stillstarving · 17/02/2014 08:21

Can I ask advice please? I've had loads of false starts trying to lose weight over the last 5 years - age of my youngest - actually he's almost 6 Blush Thats awful when I think of it... Anyway my best success in the past was when I lost 5 stones with WW. That was a long time ago though and 2 more children later I've got 2 stones to lose. I've been thinking I should give WW another go but I seem to be on the mindset that I can't lose weight. Logically I know that's not true but my body does seem to cling on to it more tightly than it ever used to and I seem to have big hormonally prompted fluctuations. I'm early 40s. I was jwondering if any of you had a similar starting point - I suppose I'm looking for a success story to emulate!! Also - I've found a WW meeting I could go to but I'm out Fri and Sat nights this weekend. Can I start WW and still have a social life? I dontvwantbto mess it up straight away but if I'm going to do it I don't want to put it off either. If you have any views I'd appreciate them.

Chewbecca · 17/02/2014 09:03

stillstarving what sort of going outs are they, will you be in control of what you eat/drink? If so, go for it, there's never a perfect time to start.
The very worst times I think is going for dinner at someone else's house so you're really limited to what you can control, even worse if the person is a 'feeder' and won't accept 'a small slice' or similar.
You can see all the fab losses on this thread, I don't think it is a thread full of hermits!
moonbells I know it is dull but 1lb is good, if you lose 1lb every week, it'd be great, you're doing the right thing!
Hi georgie, good luck with getting going!

I like the Hairy Bikers book as they don't use horrible chemical or false diet ingredients, just good wholesome food that's cleverly put together and just happens to also be quite light or low fat. An excellent philosophy in my view. The masala chicken was good and the whole family liked it, I will do it again. It was a good Sunday lunch alternative. Today I'm cooking the Cottage Pie from the same book. It's a pretty standard recipe but no fat added to the frying stage, no butter in the spuds (1/2fat creme fraiche instead) and leeks in the spuds to make them go further.

Stillstarving · 17/02/2014 09:31

Thanks chewbacca I'm going out for dinner on Friday and to the theatre on Saturday. I can see the menu for Friday night and if I go to class Thursday morning I could see what seems to fit. Can't imagine there's much whole meal pasta on the menu.... Can I start this and have a couple of glasses of wine on Friday night or am I being ridiculous??? Saturday night I'm not that clear what we're doing but if I had an idea what kind of thing to eat out on the first week I could probably find somewhere to suit. I get the impression that if I follow the first couple of weeks properly it's quite restrictive? But I absolutely agree there's no good time to start and I'd rather just get going.

trainersandaches · 17/02/2014 11:03

Welcome stillstarving and georgie!

still I wouldn't worry too much about eating out - but the thing that might knock you back is the wine - I had two large glasses the other week which worked out at 12pps - I was astonished it was so high! So if you can have 175ml glasses you'll be doing much better.

But I think as long as on the whole you are eating healthily there is no reason not to enjoy going out or meals with friends - after all once you get to target you wouldn't stop these things. Just make your meals around them as healthy as possible and maybe have a lighter day afterwards.

Georgie well done on losing a stone!

I made these last night - www.weightwatchers.co.uk/food/rcp/RecipePage.aspx?recipeId=7014242

I used cranberries instead of raisins (as that was what was in my baking cupboard!) and a teaspoon of chia seeds too. They are delish!

I did completely scarf one of them and was poised over a second with my mouth open but managed to wrestle them into a tupperware and close the lid before I ate any more. I really hated having my app down over a weekend - I am always really good during the week but less so over the weekend! Lots of bread, wine and chocolate this weekend. I did try spinning though which I was good at - though my knees are sore today!
