Shall we lose 8lbs in 4 weeks?

LemonDifficult · 05/07/2010 21:43

Would anyone like to join me in trying to lose 8lbs in 4 weeks?

I was on the June thread, found the support very motivating and lost 9lbs. Now it's July the thread has tailed off but I still have weight to lose. So does anyone fancy giving it a go?

2lbs a week is definitely doable and we could be half a stone lighter by August!

im just going to eat sensibaly and do half an hour on my exercise bike every day

SparkyMalarky · 05/07/2010 23:05

Me please - I'll be back tomorrow to join properly

LemonDifficult · 05/07/2010 23:06

Yippee!

I'm not really following much of a plan: avoiding bread and pasta mainly, and all sweets, cakes, crisps, biscuits etc. Nothing between meals, no pudding except special diet-type things (Most of my weigh is snacking, I think!)

And drinking at least 2 litres water a day

Got on the scales this morning (result quite, er, motivating) and so I'm all set for our challenge. I've got quite a bit more than 8lbs to lose (24lbs still to go) but I like this smaller goal thing. I've already drunk most of a litre of water so that's keeping hunger a bay so far. Well, that and the bowl of Special K for breakfast.

Thanks, Lilly and Sparky, I was a bit worried this'd be a no-mates weight-loss thread and I'd have to keep name-changing to motivate myself...

What's the plan for you, Sparky? Are you following a strict diet or anything?

SparkyMalarky · 06/07/2010 11:16

Hello

I've got lots more to lose too - Ideally about 3 more stone in total (I'm one down since Xmas already - hurrah!). I had been trying that Boots diet - Tony Ferguson - and I've lost my way a bit, so I need to get back on that and start running again - I was doing very well and had started Couch to 5k (got to week 6) but haven't run in over a week - so I definitely need some group motivation!!

justaminute · 06/07/2010 11:47

Thanks for starting a thread Lemon - it's just what I need. I was on the June thread and lost 4lb but I've relaxed a bit too much, too much family stuff to exercise and I've put back on 3lb already .

I have a family do at the end of the month so it would be great to be looking slimmer.

Now then what weight do I take as the starting weight? Today at 11-11 (eek) or 01.07.10 at 11-8?

EmmyVonN · 06/07/2010 12:22

I'm here too. I have 1 and half stone of baby weight to lose. I'm breastfeeding, so I'm not going to deprive myself. Instead, I'm trying to cut out the bad stuff and eat a healthy balanced diet.

I've lost a stone over the last two months by doing this, but need a bit of encouragement because I'm finding the bad habits creeping back. (I've just devoured half a bag of all sorts).

LemonDifficult · 06/07/2010 12:23

I guess we should take weight from the first day of the four weeks iyswim so we can pace ourselves week by week? And those 3lbs will fall off if they're that recent so you'll get an extra quick satisfying boost

OP posts:
EmmyVonN · 06/07/2010 12:39

Okay. I'm 10 stone at the moment. I know that doesn't sound like much but I'm small (5.3 and fine boned) and the extra weight really shows. And I can't fit into my old clothes. My pre-pregnancy weight is 8.5.

I also struggle with snacking. Keen to hear how others are tackling the extra weight.

LemonDifficult · 07/07/2010 10:02

How often is everyone weighing themselves? I'm starting each day getting on the scales but I know that's not really recommended on lots of diets.

My weight for the start of this four weeks was 10st13.5lbs so I'm pleased to have got down to that from what I was but health-wise I should be closer to 9st 6lbs. My target weight is 9st3lbs so still got 24lbs.

I get on the scale about 2 or 3 times a week. I find it helps to monitor things. If I'm avoiding the scales, it usually means that I know I've been overindulging and don't want to face it.

Yesterday was awful - polished off the Bassets allsorts, some chocolate chip biscuits and had an unfortunate encounter with grilled chicken (too much). Please remind me that I don't need to nibble to feel content.

Lemon, we have a similar goal. How was yesterday?

LemonDifficult · 07/07/2010 12:17

Yesterday was fine til the football! I got all excited before my oven chips and salad were ready and downed loads of bombay mix and beer. It showed on the scales this morning as I'd put on half a pound.

I'm also one of those people who avoids the scales in order to kid myself so getting on them every day is my way of trying to programme myself to remember I am trying to lose weight.

Emily, I wouldn't beat yourself up about the allsorts and biscuits, we've still got most of the month to go so you can definitely still get the 8lbs off! Yesterday I was reading about a Grazia diet where you can lose 5lbs in a week. Too much fancy food involved for me but just shows you how achievable 8lbs in 4 weeks is really. (I hope!!)

hello - I would like to join in. I could really do with losing 1.5 stones. I have already lost 1.5 through healthy eating and then slimming world. Stopped going to the latter as our leader chanegd and I found the new one incredibly annoying, but then the weight has been creeping back on....

Is weigh in on Monday then?

510fudge · 07/07/2010 12:41

Should add that I'm not aiming for 1.5 stones in 4 weeks- 8 pounds would be lovely!!

febes · 07/07/2010 14:24

I'll join in too. I was on the June thread and lost 7lbs so I would love to do better this month.

I am following Neris and Indias Idoit proof diet which is basically low carbs.

Since I started I have been drinking loads of water and not snacking. I'm finding the food yummy and not missing bread at all which is surprising cosidering what a toast muncher I was.

I need to cut down on alcohol and portion size but I'm a piggy lush .

febes · 07/07/2010 14:25

I have tonnes to lose so I'm in for the long haul but I think it will be a good idea to take it 8 lbs at a time.

LemonDifficult · 07/07/2010 19:45

Lol at 'piggy lush' - me too. I meant to say that that is my big change on this diet - minimal alcohol. I have a spare tyre tribute to wine, kettle chips and tzatziki.

Hi count me in too - got lots to loose - have been on Karen diet (stopped beire blonds, sandwiches and all the trimmings for lunch and replaced with porridge am, salad lunch and loads of water and smaller portion sizes for dinner and stopped nicking kids ice creams from freezer - for now 6 weeks - starting weight 11stone 10lb - had not weighed myself (in denial) since ds2 who is now 4. I weigh myself every friday and last friday was 11stone so was so pleased and hope to reach the 10stones this week. As i am very short the mean boots machine says i should be 9stone 2lb?? so some way to go and 8lbs at a time seems much more achievable - Karen

febes · 08/07/2010 08:00

Today will be
B- 2 bacon, 1 egg
L- salmon and salad
D- out for curry I have decided to drive so I can't have any wine. I'll take my water instead as its BYO. Going to have a meat curry and maybe aubergine one to share - no rice or nann

I then have a hen do on the weekend which includes dinner on Friday night and then cocktails (at hens house) and dinner and nightclub on Saturday. I'm going to take vodka, lime and soda and have that instead of the cocktails as I don't want to completely blow out all the good work I've been doing. Am meant to be going out on Monday too for another friends birthday . Hope I can stick to the 'rules'.

SparkyMalarky · 08/07/2010 17:47

Hello..had a really quite good day on Tuesday - yoga class, cycled everywhere and a rubbish day yesterday - went out in the evening and had too many wines and crisps (I love Kettle Chips and dip too) Fun tho...

So, trying to avoid the kids tea today - had some yummy french breakfast biscuits and a coffee for breakfast, small bowl of pasta and veg sauce for lunch and will have stir fried prawns and veg for tea. My big problem is a) not eating crisps in front of the tv of an evening (am trying to take up knitting again) and avoiding the kids leftovers!!

Prinnie · 08/07/2010 21:33

Hi everyone - can I join? I'm trying to lose my last 5lbs and hoping to do it this month

LemonDifficult · 08/07/2010 21:49

Oh, febes, all that socialising is just a nightmare! Well, in a diet way. Not in an have-some-fun-with-mates way, of course . I had something similar two weekends ago, full-on family party for 48hrs and I just couldn't get out of having potato salad and tirimisu... Yummy . Good luck.

Coffeekaren - do you know about those skinny cow lollies? They were a total revelation for me as I love having choc ices with the DSs - I could eat three in a row (and did sometimes!). One of these Skinny Cows is fine tho and v low in calories etc.

Hello Prinnie - does this mean you've lost some already? Please share as I love success stories!

SM - what are French Breakfast Biscuits? They sound tasty.

Hi Lemon, yes I didn't very have very much to lose - 10lbs and lost 5 between April and June by just being really good about not having biscuits etc (replaced with fruit etc.) and generally being aware of what I was eating. I also took up running at the beginning of April which helped. I'm still running but I think I've reached a bit of a plateau now as I haven't lost anything for about 3 weeks (also had a week of holiday which probably didn't help!). Hopefully I'll be able to remotivate myself by being on here!

I am one of those people who has to weigh everyday otherwise I kid myself that the cheesecake etc won't count

HouseofCrazy · 08/07/2010 23:44

Hi All

Can I join? I have to lose around 10 pounds as well. It is left over from dc3. No particular diet in mind, I think I just need to cut out the snacking. I am really bad of an evening . I also need to up my water intake.

I currently do around 3 miles walking a day (school run) and I wish I could fit in more exercise but it is hard to find the time with three 4 and under! Especially as DC3 is still only 2 months and constantly attached at night!
Any tips?

Will do a proper weigh in tomorrow. Does this thread do weigh ins regularly with current weight, goal weight, Loss to date etc?

Anyway, I will probably be on and off this thread trying to distract my self from snacking!!

See you soon!
