Is Nigella's choc fudge cake good? And doe it work? I find hers can be a bit hit & miss whereas with Delia I know that it will turn out perfectly.

Its a month until DD's bday and so I'm beginning to think about what cake I'll be making. I will not be rivalling Bebe's efforts!

I went to WW today and had lost 0.5lbs which made my WW weight a 1lb more than my home weight whereas last week it was a 1lb less. V confusing!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/09/2010 15:10

Ahem Murtette, I think you mean Saint Delia ?

Am going to try Blondes carrot/onion/celery soup to have for lunch tomorrow, maybe DD could take some for lunch tomorrow too, it's the sort of thing she likes!

bebejones · 22/09/2010 15:43

Piste - I second saint Delia, I have never had a recipe of hers go wrong & my mum swears by her recipes too! Just about to make some Delia choc icing for some cupcakes! (Not for me I hasten to add) Her Christmas cake recipe is amazing!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2010 16:12

well done on 1/2lb loss murteet

good luck jodie (think you go today)

my soup was yummy and i had a huge bowl today at lunctime as i have eaten cakes for breakfast and lunch Blush

but was for CHARITY!!!!

Murtette · 22/09/2010 19:03

I agree about saint Delia. I love the fact that you can do her recipes for the first time when you're doing a dinner party and know it will come out perfectly. Her braised sausages in red wine are delicious...not sure if square sausages would work though!

Blondes - I was so scared at the thought of you turning up on my doorstep and sleep training DD that I started doing it myself last night. About to go and do night 2 now...

prettybird · 22/09/2010 19:15

Square sausages would definitely not do! Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/09/2010 06:45

Made the soup blondes, it was really nice. DC liked it too. Do you reckon it could be frozen? I seemed to make a bucket load!! Im not sure there will be any left this time, but will make again!

Now I have an oven that works again I shall make our Christmas cake again this year, so shall look at Saint Delian for that!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2010 07:49

Murtette. I'm not that scarey tho do get results Grin how did st go last night?

Piste. Yes you can freeze. Well I did as it did make tons

I have a confession Blush

after eating cakes all yesterday in the name of charity, dh then brought Chinese

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/09/2010 07:58

Snot a hare coat - that would be cute and snuggly, tis a hair coat, and yes, go and put it on and sit in the corner!!

Envy at the cake and chinese tho LOL
My fave Chinese is hot and sour soup. Slurpies!

GettinTrimmer · 23/09/2010 09:05

I like chinese mushroom curry, wouldn't be too bad but also like fried rice and chips with it!

murtette Nigella's recipes always turn out fab for me, her cakes rise like a dream. That chocolate fudge has sour cream, 3 different types of sugar, corn oil, butter in it, about 10 points per slice Shock Also with butter icing made with melted chocolate.

I am not great on cake presentation (just slap the icing all over!) but will post a picture of it when it is made.

GettinTrimmer · 23/09/2010 09:11

I'm making your soup later too Blondes and joining you in corner. Cheese related not cake Blush

I may weigh in tomorrow joining in with Fridays

OP posts:
bebejones · 23/09/2010 09:17

Mmmmmmmmm chinese! My favourite is Chicken & Green Peppers in black bean sauce! Yum! Oh and sesame prawn toast

Have I missed this soup? Is it good? What do I do?

Have got a manic day today. Seeing my friend and her new baby this morning (eeek so excited) then taking DD to the local butterfly house after lunch (last chance before it closes this year) plus have to pack as going on holiday 2moro!! Will weigh in before I go though, but will probably find some brief moments to get on MN while away! It's a relaxed, do nothing sort of holiday!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2010 10:27

bebe - soup is o points

basically a carrot/onion/celery, 2 tins of chopped toms, dash of worcester sauce and 2 litres of chicken stock and simmered and blended a little (chunky soup is yum)

prettybird · 23/09/2010 12:29

Made a lovely soup last night for supper - no idea how many points it would be, but it was homemade chicken stock with home grown onions, potatoes, carrots and broad beans, all fresh out of the garden :)

But the chicken wasn't home grown (even if it was free range!).

Still got some left over the lunch. Yumm....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/09/2010 13:41

Having Blondes' soup for lunch. Tis vairy nice!

Pretty.. My friend now keeps chickens, but for their eggs not to eat. They are quite sweet but comedy creatures really!

prettybird · 23/09/2010 14:15

Our neighbours also keep chickens for their eggs - do you think that they would miss one? Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2010 15:20

pmsl @ chicken - we would miss one of ours :)

yet again i have sinned, dh made breakie and was sausages Grin, scrambled egg, beans and toast - think it was about 13points Blush

there is room for trimmer and her cheese fetish on my bench in the corner

there is NO weigh way that i will lose weight tomorrow

Murtette · 23/09/2010 20:13

How big is the naughty corner? Is there room for me too? DD had a chunk of cheese with both her lunch and tea and each time I needed to "straighten" up the remaining piece and never got it quite straight enough so kept cutting more bits off to eat (no, I don't have OCD but this has always been considered a legit excuse in our house to eat excessive cheese). Luckily I have all of the ingredients in so can make Blondes' soup tomorrow and eat that all weekend.

Piste - Delia's last minute Xmas cake is incredibly moist and absolutely delicious.

Blondes - What are the most sausage like low fat sausages? DP wants them on Sat night. ST going quite well (touching wood, crossing fingers etc!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2010 21:45

quorn apple ones are ok and 1p

or there are some sold in sains and can be either in a red or green packet and are a point each, but cant rem their name :(

i did go to the gym - trying to redeem myself fr tomorrows weigh in

bebejones · 24/09/2010 06:40

Woo hoo! Have lost 2 lbs! Which makes me below my target!!! Shock Going on holiday today though so will be putting some lbs back on no doubt!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/09/2010 08:18
Hmm sts

But was very good all week Hey Ho. Lost 2 last week so maybe it should have been one last week and one this?!

Have a good day Slinks x

GettinTrimmer · 24/09/2010 08:31

Morning Slinkies

I've changed to Friday, I found last time a change of weigh in day was as good as a rest Hmm

I sts. But that is OK, it's just too easy to gain.

Bebe - Big congrats!

Piste - well done also on sts.

I had some bad news yesterday - I don't think I will be able to do the Great South Run. The Fundraising Manager at RSPCA sent a letter and said she emailed me with a token to be redeemed (didn't get an email from her) and as I haven't done it can't do the run as the deadline to redeem this token thing is today.

She said she tried to phone me on the landline and my mobile, but no answer and switched off. Why she couldn't send a text or another email I don't know.

Tried to phone her yesterday but got answering machine, ansaphone on her mobile, no reply to email I sent her.

Sad Sad

I will just have to find another race - still going running today. There is a 10k round here just after christmas.

I made it sound like something really terrible when I said I had some bad news! Just a disappointment I can get over without too much sulking!
