Level 1 for me this morning although a bit of a struggle to get out of bed. The Shred has become very routine for me now and I think that can only be a good thing.

Undertone tell me more about muscle damage water retention! I am curious...

TartyMcFarty · 07/07/2010 09:44

Damn it, I knew I shouldn't have looked up '30 day shred' as I'd just have to buy it. Can I do it with mahoosive BFing boobs?

Ooops!

Jazzicatz · 07/07/2010 09:55

First day of AF so not shredding as I'm in too much pain!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/07/2010 15:21

Tarty - I have massive BFing boobs and they do bounce around but I have a level 4 (or whatever the strongest is) Shock Absorber bra and it does a good job of keeping them in check. If only there was a similar contraption I could purchase for my post-section tummy!

I have not shredded yet today, woke up with not enough time to spare before I had to leave the house. I must do it in a moment while DS is sleeping, but I would love to lie down and have a nap instead!!

Undertone · 07/07/2010 15:35

Skimummy - I'm SURE I read it somewhere connected with a review of 30DS. I've just done a quick google now and on a couple of bodybuilding sites they flag up that tired muscles become inflamed like any other minor injury, and this could be the fluid retention around they muscle that someone in the web ether referred to. By consistently overtraining muscles I think they stay in a permanent chronic state of inflammation. Don't quote me on that, though!

I DID do it last night. I didn't get so deep into the squats/lunges to save my quads - which were the muscles giving me so much grief yesterday. I upped my hand weights to 2.5KG though, to push myself a bit in other areas.

Quads have become more painful today, rest of muscles just a background ache. Should I do it again tonight?!

Undertone · 07/07/2010 15:41

Laydeez with big boobeez - I wear two sports bras. One which just looks like a normal non-underwired bra but with very thick straps and non-stretchy material, and the other one on top is a Shock Absorber crop-top type affair. I found a proper fitting at the shop helped, as I had a tendency to get too large a back size. The correct size squeezes me like a vice!

My boobs are well under control, but I can't control the bounciness making the entire front half of my body blollop up and down.

Nolda · 07/07/2010 16:53

Hi everyone! I completed day 7 of level 1 for the second time round today. This time I'm using 1.5kg rather than 1kg weights. I know that is still a lot less than some are lifting but I'm a weakling.

Undertone I've found that I ache more if I shred in the evening than if I shred in the morning. Just the usual moving about during the rest of the day helps stretch out the muscles. Of course we don't always get a choice .

Someone once told me that you shouldn't exercise first thing in the morning on an empty stomach as it makes your body think it is running in starvation conditions and so hangs onto fat. Has anyone else heard anything about this or have I just been led up the garden path?

LostGirl · 07/07/2010 17:16

It makes more sense to exercise after eating something, even if it's only a banana half an hour before simply because you will have more energy. It is also beneficial to eat within one hour of completing a workout as this is the time when your muscles will need their glycogen stores replacing and protein to help repair the damage. TBH, I don't think doing a 20 minute workout on an empty stomach is the end of the world, it would however have a negative impact if you did it on an empty stomach and then did not eat straight afterwards as well. Exercise often has the effect of suppressing our appetite straight after a workout when actually this is the time we need to be eating.

I'm back. I've been very naughty and not shredded for nearly 2 weeks. I'm hoping if I get back on this thread I will keep motivated.

I've been a bit too busy to fit in the exercise and I've been feeling really tired, yet I know that if I exercise I seem to have more energy. It's a horrible catch 22 situation.

Only 8 more sessions and I'll have completed round 2 and will measure again - I'm hoping for good things but the last 2 weeks may have undone a lot of the good work

Nice to see Lostgirl and joby spouting their good advice. Sorry to hear the pet news joby and tortoise

Nolda · 07/07/2010 21:57

Thanks, LostGirl. That makes a lot of sense. Also makes more windows of opportunity for shredding! I love that it is only 20 mins.

Hi- I briefly posted here ages ago, (as OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper), full of good intentions, but sort of fell away after Day2.

True to form, I'm now wondering if it's worth starting this before my holiday which is in 19 days' time.

Can anyone share miraculous success stories to motivate me?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/07/2010 23:28

Evening ladies - shred just done now. Really had to bully myself into it today but that is Day 4 done.

WWWY - I have noticed a difference already, waist is starting to appear and my arms are a bit less wobbly

I am doing some additional stretching and it does seem to help. If I shred in the morning then I do some stretches before bed aswell.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 07/07/2010 23:31

< Thinks about setting alarm for 6.30 tomorrow >
< Considers two glasses of cava imbibed this eve >
< Decides against >

Joby1970 · 08/07/2010 08:19

WWWY - if you start straight away & do it every day you'd be 2/3 of the way thro the 30 day shred & you WILL notice the difference. I think all of us that have stuck with the DVD have noticed excellent inch loss.

LostGirl · 08/07/2010 08:30

Definitely WWWY, in 19 days your stomach will be looking flatter and your shoulders will be more shapely and your upper arms less wobbly.

passmyglassplease · 08/07/2010 09:49

morning all, I have just completed level 3 for the first time!

I think I enjoyed this level more than 1 or 2

keep on shredding

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2010 09:56

Level 1 Day 5 done. It is getting a bit easier, noticed today that the jump rope and jumping jacks didn't feel so heavy. I think I will be doing modified press-ups forever though, they are so hard!

Tortoise · 08/07/2010 09:59

WWWY You should see a difference in 19 days (although guess that depends on your size now). I didn't lose much inches in 30 days but felt i had toned up a bit and lost a little weight. Won't hurt to give it a try.

I actually managed proper press ups for the first time this week. (smug emoticon)

Joby1970 · 08/07/2010 13:28

massive news - new shred DVD coming out in USA in Autumn I have cut & pasted this from website

Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels is coming out with a new DVD, Shred-It with Weights, set for a Sept. 7 release.

Shred-It With Weights adds extra weight to circuit training techniques that promises results in 30 days. Using a kettlebell or a single hand weight, Shred-It with Weights features two 30-minute boot camp workouts including a warm-up and a cool down. Level One is designed for beginners, with arm presses and rows that sculpt lean muscle. Level Two, features intense jumping presses and powerful lunges created to engage the core and fire up muscles.
