OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 16/03/2010 08:37

about the weighing thing
i got really into the gym a while back, and i definitely got heavier
if you're building muscle you won't weigh the same - but you'll look better - if you like numbers and measuring then you can do tape measure round waist, stomach, hips, thighs, biceps - they go on that at gym rather than weight

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 16/03/2010 08:37

OOh - Le Singe - love the bit abou "not wanting something alien in my breasts" - and you get to choose where they take it from!I would be spoilt for choice.

Obviously the lumps, tumours and deformities cast a bit of a shadow...

CoupleofKooks · 16/03/2010 08:39

ooh hello louiseq! i was coming to the conclusion you were a wind up, but here you are on a diet thread, so i guess not

noddyholder · 16/03/2010 08:41

CoupleofKooks · 16/03/2010 08:42

noddyholder · 16/03/2010 08:45

although does make me hop at times!

CoupleofKooks · 16/03/2010 08:51

Ha!

right this is my challenge for you all
the thing i would like to cut down on is butter
i eat too much of it
i usually have a bagel or crumpet or something during the day as is quite a good snack, but then i also have it in sandwiches, and probably just generally put too much on
any ideas
i have a spotty chin and think it could be butter related
all ideas about the spotty chin also gratefully received

YoginiBikini · 16/03/2010 09:16

Am feeling virtuous and off to a good Tuesday start.

School run achieved and am now munching a bowl of muesli and yogurt. I think I could live on natural yogurt. Would that be good? ?

YoginiBikini · 16/03/2010 09:21

Coupleofkooks - butter is great bit only if it's the real mccoy. None of that spreadable stuff.

I would try to substitute it with something completely different rather than a butter replacement. Hummus spread thinly on your sandwich maybe? Extra smidge of protein to fill you up too. And a little butter when you really fancy it.

Speaking of these sort of things. Avocadoes - eat them and enjoy all their good fats or avoid for calories sake?

BariatricObama · 16/03/2010 09:25

coupleofkooks you just need to stop the butter. have a wee bit of jam on your crumpet. i can't bear substitutes so when i am trying to downsize my arse i just stop. it is a win win, you stop eating carbs cos you can't be bothered having them without butter

Alouiseg · 16/03/2010 09:32

Couple of Kooks: I come to the diet thread for light relief!

Keep the butter and ditch the crumpets. I

Undertone · 16/03/2010 09:55

Spotty chin is hormonal, last I heard, not related to diet. I think you only get spots after eating greasy food because of the extra dirt and grease on your hands when you touch your face, blocking pores?

I always feel my spots are dirt/grease related, rather than anything else.

moodlum · 16/03/2010 09:56

Avocados - - put them down and walk away, you may as well have a bar of dairy milk for the same calories.

Its a lovely day and I'm pleased to be on a diet. But I fear even though I went to bed last night with a gnawing hunger, I haven't shifted any lbs anytime this week.

largeginandtonic · 16/03/2010 12:57

I want need to join. I stood on the wii fit yesterday. My normally svelte mii was blown up to twice it's size.

I have put on a STONE since dh returned form sea last November. I blame him entirely.

I need to lose a stone and half. He is away for 2 weeks. I have myself a goal of 6lbs.

I am cutting portion size. Not sure i can go carb free >

No alcohol. No puddings/cakes etc...

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 16/03/2010 13:21

see... i'm trying to do the low carb thing a bit, but having eaten an entire brie yesterday and about two mackerel fillets and a bag of salad today, i'm not sure i'm getting it right. i bet there are carbs sneaking in there so this ketosis thing will be a bust.

i HAVE to crash diet before this wedding, i've got such lovely clothes and i'm damned if i'm buying something new.

Alouiseg · 16/03/2010 13:28

Avocados If you go low carb you can have half of one every day even in induction........with vinaigrette or mayonnaise.

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 16/03/2010 13:43

Alouiseg · 16/03/2010 16:18

LeSingeEstDansLarbre Induction is the first 2 weeks, You can have all fish, all meat, all green leafy vegetables, eggs in virtually any form. Try and have 3 meals a day try not to snack but if you do just stick to the allowed foods.

Cheese, stick to hard cheese, parmesan etc. use it grated a little goes a long way.

You can boil, fry or steam. If you fry use olive oil, sunflower oil or groundnut oil or butter. Don't deep fry.

Avoid caffeine, but i don't! Avoid milk unless you like soya or lacto free. Have cream in your coffee.

Drink at least 2 litres of water a day but probably no more than 3.

Other vegetables are fine in moderation except, potatoes, parsnips and carrots. I love celeriac and butternut squash in varying forms.

The book i used is by India Knight and Nerys Thomas. I loved it the recipe book is by Bee Rawlinson and the forum is great.

That's it, in a nutshell. Oh, no booze for the first 2 weeks.

cyb · 16/03/2010 16:49

I can't believe I am still being good. its like I've got the builders in all over again

bran flakes
Salad with a sausage (I know they needed using up) chopped up and lobbed in
oatcakes
grapes

Got a mate coming round for a homemade curry tonight, she was going to bring pud I said no merci je suis dans la diet

she said d'accord

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 16/03/2010 17:03

Maybe we could do a DVD on the builder diet - would need a catchy title like "No Kitchen - don't eat!" Su in a leotard and a megaphone , naturally.

Homemade curry sounds yummy Cyb.

Today;

Yoghurt and fruit
Smoked salmon
7 lime and orange tic tacs ( 2 calories each)
Chicken and salado tonight for tea.

Done Davina. Think it's not really shifting atm. Need to keep going - there isn't really an alternative apart from getting fatter is there?

cyb · 16/03/2010 17:08

Su in a leotard
