Hi ladies!

Thought it might be nice to have a new thread for the new(ish) year.

food not good, but I made myself bite the bullet and go dancing. I actually did a jive today!!! still a bit crap at turning and stuff, but I left smiling Smile

naughtily had fish and chips watching the sea for lunchBlush but they were goodWink

we took the boys up to the moors after school and did a 5.5 mile walk (without getting lost this time! thankfully as if we had been 15 mins longer it would have been dark and I would have been SCARED!)

hope you enjoy your dancing. Ironically there was a poster in the chippie advertising zumba belly dancing which said something about egyptian dancing, but when i did zumba at the gym it wasn't much like dancing in my mindHmm

RGPargy · 17/09/2010 15:55

Jam - will let you know how it goes.

Didn't go the airport in the end as we ended up doing jobs around the house etc lol. Fish and chips by the sea sounds lovely Ria! Wink

I think the exercise is deffo making a difference because my new work trousers that I bought from New Look are now starting to look a bit too big and yesterday as i was leaving for work, one of the girls at work said "oh you look really slim in that jacket Carol!" :o :o :o Then today on the way to work, i bumped into another girl from work and she said that she could tell the gym was working for me as my waist was looking particularly small! woohoo!! :o :o :o :o

Enough of my bragging tho. I have got a recipe for millionaire's shortbread that is threatening to put the inches back on........ Blush

RGPargy · 17/09/2010 15:57

As for Zumba, I like the idea of it, but it was a bit too twisty-turny for my liking lol.

Jammy - well done on the 4kg loss!! That's brilliant! :o

Ria - any loss for you this week?

OP posts:
Riadingbetweenthelines · 17/09/2010 16:24

not going well RGBlush, but am enjoying the dancingSmile I bought a strappy dress today to wear over leggings and a black top, to wear for lessons - comfy but girlySmile

Jammyrella · 17/09/2010 21:44

Fab that you're getting so many complements RG. I treally helps when you know it's having a noticeable effect.

2nd night of dancing was really fun again. And I had a 30 min swim afterwards! Did come home really hungry afterwards though and managed to eat cereal AND toast with peanut butter Blush. But other than that have managed to be healthy all week!

Japan Matsuri festival tomorrow in London, and staying at friends afterwads, so will probably have too many unhealthy things then though.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 18/09/2010 20:11

hope you're having a great weekend Jammy. I have no idea what that is, but it sounds great. Did you enjoy that other thing you went to, with the traction engines and craft?

how are you getting on with myfitnesspal?

I have really lost my momentumSadBlush

hope you're having a good weekend RGSmile

Jammyrella · 19/09/2010 16:22

Had a lovely weekend thanks Ria. The edge was taken off a little by the amount of engineering works on the underground. Made our getting about SO much more difficult! And herefore we were a bit grumpy when we arrived at the Japanese festival. But it was nice, we saw some traditional dancing, and some drumming, and I had a go at JApanese writing with ink and a brush. I wasn't overly hungry, so passed on most of the lovely food, apart from some green tea ice cream. So not the healthiest of lunches - and then our friends made lasagne and trifle for dinner - but I walked plenty and did pass on 2nd helpings and only had 1 glass of wine.

A bit more walking today when we went to the Horniman museum, which was good. DD got on really well with friends DD and DS so that made it all flow nicely.

ANd yes thanks Ria, the other thing we went to was good thanks.

Now just plucking up the courage to step on the scales at the end of the week.

Hope you've both (do I need to say all? IS there anyone else here but Ria and RG?) had a lovely weekend too.

findingtheRialme · 19/09/2010 17:33

thanks Jammy. It is a bit like the old days - I have spent too much time on MN todayGrin, but other than that a very uneventful weekend.

findingtheRialme · 22/09/2010 11:12

just checking in. only did one dance class yesterday as we had to race off to the hospital. am feeling a bit uncomfortable with it because I'm so rubbish. I don't think the teacher minds, but some of the older ladies seem a bit annoyedSad, also was terrified i would get approach by one of the 3 single men! DH is coming next week!!!

things are really not going well on the food frontBlush and it's DHs day off today which never helps. Will get back on track tomorrow.

RGPargy · 23/09/2010 13:01

Hi Ladies :)

Sounds like you had a good time at the Japanese festival Jammy!

Ria, why were the old dears getting annoyed? Were they getting cross with you or were they just feeling particularly grumpy? lol

Lost about 4lb this week i think (i have no idea how as i have had 2 McDonalds in 2 days this week!) and my friends at the gym were telling me that my loss was noticeable too! :o I'm so glad because i have been working really hard lately and even put in an extra 2 classes on my day-off-from-the-gym day this week! I must be mental! Hmm :o

Any plans for the weekend, girls? Nothing happening this end, although after DP had 2 of his mates down to say for the weekend last weekend, i am very glad of a quiet weekend this week!

OP posts:
Jammyrella · 23/09/2010 13:23

Well done on teh 4lb RG :)

When I stood on the scales on Monday morning I had lost between 1 and 2 kg last week. And dance class has started being a LOT more active, so hopefully that will do me some good too. And I am trying to make swimming a regualr feature in my life again. When I'm used to that I'll try to get some exercise at home going on too, but not enough hours in the week at the moment, and we are still getting used to the school routine and my new work hours.

Going to my parents this weekend. Mum broke her hip a few weeks back and I want to see how she is doing now. Meant to be going for a meal and the cinema with DH on Saturday night as we will therefore have a rare opportunity of babysitters :) Then next weekend we have my ILs coming here, so I am quite Envy of your quiet weekend RG. At least FIL's recent diabetes diagnosis will keep me on the straight and narrow while they are visiting, as everything must be super healthy!

findingtheRialme · 23/09/2010 17:08

Well done on the losses you twoSmile I am Envy

Have crippling tummy pains todaySad Had a short nap and have trudged up to school for fresh air, but not feling too hot. The boys are getting hot dogs for tea, if I have to cook food I will be sick

Had a look at the calendar today (in the hope of finding some sort of incentive to get my motivation back) and it is 13 weeks tomorrow until Christmas eveShock Hope that will give me a shove in he right direction!

how is your mum now Jammy?

I am meant to be going to an OU day school/tutorial on Saturday - DH has even already worked an extra shift so he can have the day off to babysit/drive me there. He is meant to be taking the boys to his parents but he hasn't rung his mother yetHmm

Jammyrella · 26/09/2010 15:18

Hi everyone. Hope you've had (and are still having!) nice weekends.

Ria, hope you are feeling better now, and that you got to your OU thing yesterday.

Just had the weekend at my parents. Didn't get to go out for dinner on Saturday in the end, as we wanted to go to the cinema and there wasn't enough time to go for dinner as well after we got DD to bed. But that meant we had a nice healthy dinner at home with my parents, so had a lovely weekend and even with baking and eating cakes with DD (it pissed it down pretty much the whole time) I only went 15 calories over my "diet allowance" yesterday :) And the film was great, really funny, just what I needed to unwind :)

findingtheRialme · 26/09/2010 18:56

glad you had a good weekend jammySmile

I didn't go yesterday sadly, as things were still a bit unpredictable. Have been to cafe church (the boys friends dad runs it) and tomy mums for lunch today. DH has been invited out by the pool team tonight so I am a bit Sad that I'll be on my own again, but never mind.

Jammyrella · 27/09/2010 12:17

Stood on the scales again this morning. Another 1kg gone :) "only" another 43 to go Blush!

findingtheRialme · 27/09/2010 13:57

yay JammySmile

Jammyrella · 27/09/2010 20:28

Well, I had 3 biscuits tonight and I'm not going swimming. But instead I gave blood :)

findingtheRialme · 27/09/2010 21:55

I have had several Quality Street (I bought them so I could have a couple a day as my treatHmm) and as DH is having his CT scan tomorrow, it is unlikely I will go to my dance class, as DS3 has already started stressing about nurserySad

well done for giving blood, I have never, being always PG or on ADs when it is time.

Jammyrella · 30/09/2010 20:32

Well I had too many raisins and pine nuts in my dinner to be healthy, but still wasn't doing so bad, and then I caved in and had the hot chocolate and crumpets that this stupid cold made me crave :(

findingtheRialme · 30/09/2010 21:37

crumpets aren't the worst thing Jammy. i was having them for breakfast and/or supper when I was following weight watchers! hope you feel better soon.

I thought I was feeling a bit better and had abit of the pizza I ordered in for the boys. I really wish i hadn't and had just had toast or something. takeaway pizza after 2 days of only eat a jaffa cake when I take painkillers was a big shock to the system! I feel really sick now.

RGPargy · 01/10/2010 12:10

Hi Ladies!!

Finally got around to posting on here. We have been stuck right into the True Blood series and are currently watching series 2 avidly, one after another, which means my FV farms aren't being attended and MN isn't getting a look in either! Shock horror!! Whatever next! Wink

Are you feeling better now Ria?

Jammy - well done your loss and well done on giving blood too! :o

Well, i've managed to put back on the 4lb that i lost. Angry DP pointed out to me that when i weighed myself and had lost the 4lb, it was in the morning after i'd not eaten dinner the night before,if that makes sense. I'd gone to the gym and by the time i got home i couldn't be bothered with dinner so just had a yoghurt instead.

I am really struggling with my food again at the moment. It doesn't help that it's almost TOM either. When i was steadily losing weight i was having a pitta bread and a soup for lunch, something really light (or a small portion) for dinner and my usual 2 weetabix and a banana for breakfast. I was also drastically cutting out the alcohol too. I just cant seem to get back into doing that. I know I should though, especially if i want to lose weight rather than just maintain, which is what i seem to be doing right now.

You'd think that by doing 7 classes a week at the gym i could pretty much eat what i liked, wouldn't you!! No such luck! Confused

Enough of the self pitying wallowingness. What's everyone up to this weekend?

:o

OP posts:
findingtheRialme · 01/10/2010 13:54

7 classes at the gym?Shock of course you should be able to eat what you likeWink and have seconds!

I didn't make my dance class, I felt really crappy after the nursery trauma on Tuesday, so I couldn't face it, and mucked out DS1s room and moved all his furniture round again (have put all his prized posessions crap that was on the floor into black bin liners and he has 2 weeks til the bin men come...) by the time I got home from sainsburys on Tuesday night (buying DS1s rogan josh ingredients for school) I was achey etc, and spent all day Weds in bed with fluSad, yesterday wasn't great, TOTM too, but DH was back at work so I had to get up. Am still pouring sweat today, but not in as much pain thankfully. Have lost 5lb this week though!

I won't make the class next Tuesday either as it's the funeral of the girl who died, and DH seems to think I should go, DS1 has told me I "need to pay my respects" (I do wory about him and his 1940s time warp - he says such odd phrases sometimes!) and even my mum and dad are expecting me to go. Will have to find something brightly coloured to wear, difficult as my clothes are mainly black, brown and dark purpleHmm Do you think i could wear black jacket/trousers with a dark purple top and a bright pink scarf?

the school mum who runs the gym in that youtube link was chatting this morning and is keen to get me back to the gym (don't put your prices up then!), I just don't have the confidenceSad

sorry, that turned into a bit of a rambleBlush No plans for weekend here, catching up on the housework I haven't done while i've been poorly these last 2 weeks, and it's mums birthday tomorrow, so we will visit her with cake, and the kids will probably con me into a church based activity on Sunday (I'm sure using cake to get kids there isn't ethical!) I think it's the Sunday school thingy.

findingtheRialme · 01/10/2010 13:57

I feel it may be time to pay a visit to my farm too RG, I have been neglecting it in favour of bejewelled!

Somehow I managed to miss the registration date for my next OU course (not paying attention I suppose), so aside from my final essay due in a couple of weeks, and registering for February, I'm on a study break now. Farmville will do nicely!Grin

Jammyrella · 01/10/2010 14:51

RG, perhaps 7 gym sessions a week is too much and pushong your body into "starvation mode" if is thinks that level of activity needs to be sustained, so it is hanging onto calories for dear life? I can't remember all the science, but there might be something in it?

Weekend plans? Got ILs arriving in about an hour. So they are meant to look after DD tomorrow so DH and I can have some time to ourselves to go out shopping, dinner, cinema. Just hope I've got over the worst of this cold as at the moment the LAST thing I feel like doing is going out of the house for about 10 hours in a stretch! I have just made 3 fish pies. A little for for DD to have early, a big one for me, DH and MIL to have later and one with no mash for the newly diabetic-and-hence-no-spuds-rice-pasta-or-bread FIL.

findingtheRialme · 01/10/2010 15:43

goodness, that must be awful for him jammy. I don't like fish pie much anyway, but couldn't eat it without mash.

Farm up and running againSmile

we are awaiting our curry (DS1s cooking lesson was postpone til today), even though I probably won't eat I am very pleased someone else has cooked!
